I know Van Ginkel has the Fangio connection, but he's 29. I'm not sure he's the guy Howie would be pursuing. I think Huff or Young are more likely. Howie wants youth and upside on the lines.

If they can get a first for Sweat or a 2nd+ for him and then sign Chase Young to a one or two year prove-it deal, that would be awesome.

I've believed for a while they are only shopping Reddick because they don't want to pay both him and Sweat in a year. Maybe they realized Sweat will get more in return.

I am ok with moving Sweat, but I do not want the underachieving Chase.

Ehh.... not sure how I feel about a one year wonder guy.

Get younger on D has to be the priority. Safety is one od the positions where players can age gracefully.

I think a 1 is a little high, but would be over the moon if they got it.

Me either, and at what cost? He is intriguing though. Extend Reddick and sign Huff. If Chris Braswell is siting there in round 2 he'd be on my short list as well. Depending of course on how FA is shakes out.

If they got a 1 for Sweat, I'd drive him to the airport and be his servant for a week

It's not about hate, it's about acknowledging the facts.  Howies drafting in the 20s has been amazingly awful.  There's not one pick from that range that has been good for the Eagles, unless you count one year from Nelson Agholor.  Then, you get exactly one season from one player drafted in that range.  You can even lower that range down to any that is not single digits, as Derek Barnett (14) and so far Jordan Davis (13) didn't get it done compared to their draft status.  We head into year 3 with Davis this year, and while he can be a freak athlete for moments... he can't stay on the field.  With Cox out of the picture now, no reason to forsee Suh or Joseph returning we NEED big things from both him and Carter next year.  This team desperately needs playmaker defensively and when you draft defense with 3 consecutive first round picks (picks 13, 9 and 30, respectively) that puts a massive onus on Davis, Carter and Smith to produce.  Davis nears the halfway point of his rookie contract.  So far, he's been a disappointment given his draft status and his physical stature.  He should be better than he has been and he should be on the field more.  The training wheels are off now for him.  Time to do it on the field consistently.

Even with Agholor, he was picked the one year Kelly had full control. For 2015, I’m ok with giving Howie no credit or criticism for that draft.

I'm starting to get excited

Bryce Huff = Howie's 2nd attempt at Reddick. Won't be as cheap as last time.

Your excited over a guy who aged 2.75 sacks a season over 3 years then a best of 10 in his contract year?

At the price it looks like he might get I am not excited for with that inconsistent production.

Still worth to trade that. Use the extra 2024 rising cap for good reasons.
This also frees up 21M in cap in 2025.

Not ideal at all, but we have enough under the cap plus can easily get more with extensions and other tricks up Howie's sleeve.

oh wow it would cost us cap space and dead cap to trade Sweat?

I'm excited for tatergeddon in general. Huff is a young guy though who was on the ugly Jets, I do think the arrow is pointing up. He made strides against the run this year too. He could be viewed as a building block to this defense.

The Eagles would make up any cap loss in restructures. Extending Reddick would free up cap too.

If you can get a 2nd for Sweat, then you can use 22 plus a second to move up for Mitchell, and still have 2 seconds left...

how much cap can we gain with a sweat trade, and a Reddick extension?

You lose $5.5M in cap trading Sweat.

I like hearing that the Eagles are shopping Sweat and Reddick.

If you have the worst defense in the NFL, any expensive player who is likely on the back end...Howie should be at least exploring the trade market for them.

It also reflects some degree of confidence in our completely unused first round pick from last year.
