  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

We arent going to save any cap space. And if youre worried about saving 20M from the dead cap figure then I dont know what to tell you but thats a waste of time.

We’re swapping players for a 2nd round pick (hopefully). Josh Hurts, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Miles Sanders, Dallas Goedert… that is a significant return

Jordan can get restructured/extended

Mailata? He has nothing to restructure this year. Extending him does nothing.

2025 yes. But not now.

I think he could finagle a player to take a major "fully guaranteed at signing” year 2 and 3 offseason bonuses in exchange for a smaller signing bonus. Depends on the myopsis of the player/agent

If he has a bad agent. $ right now is always > $ eventually

Extension then. What about any of Slay, AJ, Goedert?

Trade Reddick and Sweat. Isn’t that what we drafted Carter and Davis for?

In a vacuum, trading Sweat for picks and signing Huff is smart.

But in an offseason where they desperately need back 7 help, spending your entire offseason revamping the pass rush would be incredibly annoying, but also very Eagles of them.

They need to revamp that back 7 so so badly. Hopefully they have something cooked up there as well.

I'm pretty understanding of their limitations and don't expect a huge splash.  But if Howie wants to go for a SB, he better find 2 corners, a safety, 2 linebackers, a WR, and a RB all this offseason who are capable of having big years next year.  That means half of them need to be big splash names and the other half need to be surprise hits.

its very doable with the cap space and draft picks they have, as well as where the strengths of the draft are.

Welp, true to Eagles form, they can't help themselves but to overinvest in the DL.

Well...

It sounds like we have Huff and Danielle Hunter coming in.

Graham back one year deal.

Brandon Graham is resigned

Maybe the majority of the draft will be secondary.

If an extension doesn’t do anything there’s no point.

Slay and Brown, no. You’re looking at a couple $100k doing those. Goedert at best is $2M so you could but nothing substantial. Howie structured a lot of his contracts to mirror automatic restructures and tapped into a lot of other players already. They don’t have really any optionality or flexibility besides Reddick.

I’m not trying to imply doom and gloom, just that they made long term plans and can’t deviate on the fly.

Argument to trade both is clear.

Paying Reddick $25m/yr at age 30 with all the pending young player extensions is tough.

With Sweat, it's completely different. I don't care if Sweat is 24 or 34, I don't want to pay him market value. Combine that with a possible 1st/2nd round pick on the table? Trade him, enthusiastically. Use the money Sweat is actually worth to this team to pay someone else.

would make a lot of sense to do so.

Wonder if we are finally getting Parsons here since he wants to be here and Dallas is interested in Sweat.

I would rather trade Sweat than Reddick. I think we saw last year that Sweat can’t play a high number of snaps on his knee - he disappeared down the stretch. He’s going to want big money, and we shouldn’t give it to him after this year. Trade him now and get a quality pick. Extend Reddick, sign Huff or someone else, and then focus on the back 7.

Amazingly, they could free up a couple million by extending Jake.

Greenard, Huff, Curl, Gardner-Johnson at nickel

Draft 1st round CB, LB and WR in round 2, RB in round 3.

Seems we are super bowl bound if the QB is up to par.

If I’m the Eagles, I’d be way more concerned about Sweat long term than extending Reddick. Sweat will always have that knee lingering and he showed he just can’t play the majority of the snaps without falling off. In his prime he’s better than a situational pass rusher but he’s headed to being a situational pass rusher fast.

Maybe, but there's only so much you can control in the draft. Can never leave any position completely in the hands of the unpredictable draft.

I think regardless of what they do at pass rush, they will add a top safety in free agency. I was hoping the money went to corner instead of two freaking edge rushers. I've wanted Lattimore for a while, I think he'd be a great fit and it seems the Saints are having issues moving him, which means he may not cost a ton to acquire. We'll see.

And they should extend him for life.
