I'd take Moss to go with Swift. But Moss and Gainwell sounds like crap to me.

It does to me, as well.

Ok but that doesn’t answer why he was never more than a situational guy

It looks like their starting DEs are bigger. Like 260+ and 280+

They drafted Will McDonald last year, who is legit. And already have to pay DTs Quinton Jefferson and Quinnen Williams.

They have a lot tied up in that DL.

And it looks like they used their smaller guys as situational rushers, and used their heavier guys in early downs.

That Def does have talent, but he doesnt really impress me. Maybe fangio sees something.

I do find it odd that these free agents are being leaked to the Eagles.

If you think of Howie's bigger free agent signings, they weren't. Think Reddick, Hargrave, Brooks, McLeod, etc. They all got big contracts, but weren't leaked before the tampering period.

My gut tells me that Howie likes Huff, but using his free agency as a leverage play in contact negotiations with Reddick.

OK, just doing some Sunday morning thinking here after seeing that the Eagles are interested in nearly every available player, notably both Swift and Barkley.

Between Jalen Hurts (157) and Kenny Gainwell (84) there were 241 carries. 40 of those were QB sneaks.

Saquon Barkley had 247 carries last year.

Maybe the Eagles are seriously considering a Swift/Barkley 1-2 punch with the intent of eliminating the called runs for Hurts and an upgrade from Kenny Gainwell.

Swift saw his best production last year and while many think there were more plays to be had from him, 230 carries was 80 more than his previous career high. He also only had 39 catches compared to his career high of 62. I could see the Eagles thinking of bringing him back and changing his role a bit. Get him the same amount of touches but more like 200 carries and 55 catches.

They bring in Barkley to take Gainwell's 84 carries and 30 catches, plus 30 of Swift's and let's say 120 of Hurts runs. That gives Barkley 230 carries.

D'Andre Swift- 200 carries 55 catches

Saquon Barkley- 230 carries 30 catches

Kenny Gainwell- 20 carries (Boston Scott's 2023 role)

Jalen Hurts- 40 carries

Can't pay Hurts that money to turn around and spend that much on multiple running backs. Doesn't make sense.

Unless they both want to come here for 4 million

Yea, was just trying to figure out how it would work or what their thinking would be if that was the case. I do like the idea of less Gainwell and fewer Hurts called runs however.

Yes.

I think with Moore as OC we will see fewer Hurts runs.  This is why motion will be a key pre-snap element.

In 2022 our deception was does Hurts run or throw?

In 2023 very limited motion and with Hurts unable to run due to being banged up, the offense didn't fool or confuse anybody.

With this in mind we need good RBs.  Real RBs.

Mac Jones traded to Jacksonville

Absolutely no interest in Barkley for what it would take to sign him.

To be a backup which is exactly what he is.

Nope.

The max I would go is maybe 6-7

Wow. Guess NE is in the QB market for sure.

I'd rather have Swift back for a couple of years.  At a stretch in the season, he was the leading RB in the NFL.  With a better offense and more targets in the passing game, he could be a top RB.  Add a mid round pick or low-mid RB to mix in with Gainwell.

Of course, if the market is soft for Jacobs and you can sign him for a good deal, you have to consider him.  Barkley is a distant 3rd to those options imo

Sure, he is. CMC is worth more, but he’s paid more and that was before the increased cap.

I guess given where they will be drafting and starting with a new HC they kind of have to be? Mac Jones definitely isn’t the answer.

They've been tied to Jayden Daniels for weeks now.

We’ve all followed the Eagles long enough by now to know their style.

Huff makes sense.

Barkley is someone who they will never give a competitive deal on day 1.  But if he’s unsigned 3 weeks into FA and will take a 1 year deal, you know the Eagles will kick the tires.

And you know they are exploring the trade market on players with 1 year left for the trade and sign.

Hasn't finished a full season since his rookie year and aside from last year, has been pretty meh and injured over the last 4 years.

I'd rather Swift for cheaper than Barkley at 10 million per.

If the Falcons sign Cousins, what is the true market for Justin Fields? If the Bears are hard set on trading him, and seeing that Mac Jones was traded for a 6th round pick, could Fields be had for cheap as a backup to Hurts? Would anyone want that? His cap hit is $6 million for 2024 but there's no way he would stay as a backup after this year.
