The Eagles signed LeSean McCoy to a 5 year / $45M contract in 20212 when the cap that year was just under $121M. The devaluation of the RB position makes today's "expensive" RBs really not that expensive.

I expect the Eagles will sign a safety today

I hope the Eagles will sign a LB today

I expect RB will be signed later on

Eagles interest in Barkley isn't surprising after watching how much McCaffrey helped Purdy.  Swift isn't that guy and Barkley is as close as the Eagles can get.  With Moore as OC the RB position becomes more than the afterthought it has been.

Barkley hasn’t been that guy for the giants though.

The Eagles have interest in Xavier McKinney and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, per @caplannfl.

One player he says won’t be coming to Philly, barring an unforeseen change: Darnell Savage. He says there’s an AFC team involved.

The Eagles also are interested in Geno Stone.

Look, I know Howie is always thinking of the future, but I highly doubt he plans that far out.

Correct.  Again, Barkley is a myth.

If they draft a CB in the 1st 2 rounds, probably looking at that guy + Ringo as the 2025 CBs. Slay, Bradberry gone. No major $ tied up at A. Cap allocation for the secondary would be looking light. Seems like there's room for McKinney.

Lol

I really hope we sign Lovato before the days over

He might end up being TE2

Saquon Barkley stats for the last 4 years:

45 games, 723 carries for 2,901 yards (4.0 ypr), 202 targets and 145 catches for 941 yards (6.5 ypc)

Not a small sample size.  Anyone can give you that level of RB production.  Literally anyone.  No need at all to outbid the league to pay $10M AAV for it.

Or Re-STFUYOUKNOWWHATWEMEAN

Barkley is a better runner, receiver and blocker than Swift. Swift is just shiftier in space.

The Barkley stuff still makes no sense and I’d be shocked if he comes here

My guess is if it’s genuine it’s because Howie knows his market will be smaller/cheaper than expected

No he's not.

Howie sux and Lurie is cheap.  We haven't signed anyone.

Wonder if he even makes it to 10K yards for his career. Injuries and wasting away on a bad Giants team kind of sucks.

This is the correlation of top 5 contracts at each position to cap increases from 2014 to 2023:

I like Barkley.  It seems like a value when great running backs become somewhat cheap.  If Barkley cost the same as Chris Jones,  maybe you skip that,  but if Barkley is 1/2 or 1/3 the price of Chris Jones,  you look very closely at getting that.    Also,  Derrick Henry.

The sound of Swift's agent telling D'Andre to take a lesser deal.

Closer to it than Swift.  Has averaged 20 touches a game during his career.  Nonetheless,  I don't want to spend the money on him.  Nor do I think Swift can handle 20 touches a game.  And he can't block at all.

I want both.  We are an inevitable Barkley injury away from doesn't Gainwell starting a bunch of games .
