He probably did, but I’m taking all this info from people quoting him on Twitter.

Folks.

Did he say it was a fluid situation?

Some of Howie's best free agent signings/trades have been at safety: CJGJ, Jenkins, McLeod

Hope the Dickerson deal works out.  That's a big contract for a dude with a lot of injury history.

McLeod still balling, would have been happy if he stayed. Had the best season of his career in 2022

Landon got a very good AAV, but less guarantees than I thought for a contract that size. It's basically a 2.5 year extension.

Welcome to the annual restructure list, Landon Dickerson. Only the best.

How often is Fangio rushing 5?  So on passing downs one of the OLB's is going to drop into cover the shallow routes because the Safeties are always sat deep, Neither Reddick, Sweat or Graham is any good at that.

Sometimes they’ll drop back, but mostly they’ll be pass rushers. Sometimes he’ll rush 5, mostly 4 though.

On passing downs 3-4 teams normally get into a nickel or dime so they’re taking tackles off of the field and normally have 2 interior DL and 2 OLB/DE as rushers. Typical Dime/Nickel packages still apply from 3-4 to 4-3 they just look slightly different. Rush 4, drop 7.

the difference in 3-4 to 4-3 are really just in their base package facing 2 WR 1 HB looks.

If I’m the Eagles, I’d be way more concerned about Sweat long term than extending Reddick. Sweat will always have that knee lingering and he showed he just can’t play the majority of the snaps without falling off. In his prime he’s better than a situational pass rusher but he’s headed to being a situational pass rusher fast.

Not sure I'd qualify him as getting there 'fast'.   I've seen him run, its more labored than it is 'fast'.

You are absolutely right though.  Investing big in Sweat is a very risky move.   I'd be very happy to see them trade him, if they get even a decent return.   1 - He's not nearly as valuable as some seem to believe.   2 - He's going to get old fast.   Knees don't regenerate.   He's Jay Ajayi.  Use him while you can, and then move on before he breaks down.

No chance they go to 10m.

This has got Howie written all over it. Look how low the signing bonus is. For comparison:

Orlando Brown got a 64m$ contract with the bengals with a 31m$ signing bonus.

When Quentin Nelson signed his 80m$ contract, also a 31m$ signing bonus.

When Joe Thuney signed his 80m$ contract, also a 31m$ signing bonus.

And those are all deals a year+ old.

His cap hits year 1 and 2 are going to be unusually low, then Howie will restructure him year 3, and rip this up before bloated year 4 with a new extension and do it all over again

I can't believe we're here again with Eagles and RB's.

I mean I can believe it, but come on.

$20/2 years wouldn’t be crazy. If he can stay healthy, small risk move. We’ve spent more on less. JB24 is getting 3/38 lol

Smith is gonna be expensive

Right? Just sign Queen, safety help and then bring back swift.. really we need 2 LBs.

Still to be seen if Jeudy can reach his potential but that's some damn good roster management. The Eagles traded more for Robert Quinn and Kevin Byard and both were here for a combined 16 games. Hell, the Eagles traded more for Genard Avery.

Shhhhh.... Howie is the trade master.    Don't bring up his failures.   It makes some people around here sad.

Ahh yes - my favorite time of year.  When everyone in the blog acts like it's their money that the Eagles are spending when they sign these guys to their contracts.

Dickerson is a top 3-5 guard, it’s the price to play the game and he has been a huge draft hit.

He likely structured it with guaranteed option bonuses which is like an automatic restructure. If $50M is fully guaranteed at signing but only $20M is a signing bonus, the rest is likely option bonuses because I doubt he has large guaranteed base salaries the first few years.

Not that Nolan Smith has earned anything, but the dude is a first round pick that I'd rather not see go to waste (not to mention supremely talented).  How would Huff and Smith coexist in the same defense?  Both are very light pure speed rushers who really figure slot in for Reddick only, not Sweat.  Unless someone things Huff could be a Sweat replacement?

The waste could very well have been selecting him in the first place.   We'll see.   But, if they really think he's not an answer, then they need to make alternative plans.

Imagine freaking out over Dickerson but wanting Barkley 🤣🤣🤣

I think Huff is more likely than McKinney. I don't care about the rumors, we all know Howie and what he prioritizes.

I understand that but they aren’t paying him $17-$19M a year to play around 400 like he did with the Jets. I’d expect him to play 700 to 800 which would have put him around 65% of total defensive snaps

And yet, we invested a top 15 pick in a NT that has yet to play 50% of the snaps in a season.
