I agree that the DC should be an older, experienced coach like Schwartz was. I’d also want a DC that brings a new scheme and not this Fangio type. I would prefer a more attacking style D, which actually wants to punish the opposing offense.

Yeah, I've said this a couple times but I think the Philadephia fanbase is fundamentally incompatible with Fangio style defense. And I think that's okay. I know basically any form of "Bend but Don't Break" (which is like 90% of the league these days) drives Philadelphia fans absolutely crazy.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I see. Me personally I think it'd be an extremely bad idea to fire Sirianni, but I'm aware that a lot of others are furious about the season and feel the opposite. I just feel that a lot of the coaches in the NFL both know and realize how much winning Sirianni has done, and no one worth their salt will want to come to Philadephia considering that, Howie's power vicegrip, and Philadelphia's notoriously demanding fanbase.

Which is really bad because the chance of us downgrading is not low.

I just think he is a HC with a short shelf life. He built a culture and for a while it was good, really good, but then things turned and he had no answers. And for a team to quit that way? For a HC who really all he does is the motivational stuff to oversee a team that quit? In the play offs? Yeah I am so out on Sirianni and if he’s back next year then it’s going to be a complete waste of time for everyone.

Anybody think 48 could pry pitts from ATL on his contract year?

Agreed.

They didn’t think he was ready last year and let him walk. He might have no interest in coming back.

Ironically, he had a longer NFL resume than Desai.

Who says hiring a defensive minded coach is a bad idea?   I would love Mufasa back here.  Never going to happen though.

I don’t know if most of the fanbase views it the same way I do. I grew up in a different era of football and might be seeing this "soft” type of D too harshly.

Even JJ had a version of "bend but don’t break” in his defenses, but also had "blitz packages” to put pressure on opposing teams. Of course he also had the players that could actually do it.
He wouldn’t have looked as bad with this defense as the current DCs, but damn, these players were one of the worst assembled groups ever.

The best defenses can mix up what they are doing and hit the offense with something they aren't expecting.   This defense you can set your watch by.  3rd and short... we'll play way off the receivers and give them an easy conversion.  3rd and long... we'll play even further off the receivers and still give them an easy conversion.

Something doesn’t add up here. Everything you stated would definitely tell us that he should be rated higher. Top 3? I don’t think so.

This is what I don’t understand. He wasn’t even the top receiver at USC this year. In four college seasons he totaled 1800+ yds. Granted he spent two years at Colorado but his best season, this year, he had 791.

If he is underrated someone gets a steal in the middle to late rounds. If he isn’t underrated and you take him in the 2nd round? You get caught reaching.

Where he gets drafted might depend on what type of offense a team runs and how he fits into it also.

Are you drafting pedigree or player, an argument can be made for both in this case because he is Jerry’s son.

I don't get the lack of production either although he did have 12 TDs this year.

For me, he’s hands down the Coach of the Year. Rooting hard for Mufasa this weekend.

Eagles lockerroom was open from 2:30 and Jalen Hurts wasn't available until 7:30.  That tells me that Hurts was in a long exit interview with Lurie and maybe Howie too.  Probably longer than planned and now Nick's had to be bumped back to tomorrow. Are the coaches and coordinators that Howie is reaching out to for Nick or to gaige interest in Eagles HC opening?

Either that or he was crying in the fetal position in the shower because he has blitz coverage PTSD

They made money on this. It's not the point that you think you're making.

NFL made money…Peacock lost money.

At least this makes me happy!

I don’t think McCarthy is a bad coach. Their defence and dak were their problem

If that cycles enough, Peacock (and other streaming services) either won't pay as much, or will just back out of the bidding.  Eventually, it will hit the NFL.

I will very much miss Fletcher Cox.

In general, or on this particular game? I don't think there's enough data yet to make a judgement on the latter and it broke the record for viewership of a live streaming event. I wouldn't count those chickens until all the data (i.e. numbers on new subs) comes in.

There's your logistical issues. Good to see the owner taking this so serious.

Safe to assume neither of these guys are coming back if a team captain is saying this.

Or he’s not planning to make a change so didn’t deem it necessary?

I guess Sirianni is staying but no word on the coordinators. If they run it back next year with the exact same coaching staff we should all boycott next season.

Hopefully Siriani’s coaching search comes up flat and they replace him. I hate the brand of football we watched this season.

How did we go from Jim Johnson to this. Ugh.
