Here's why Howie is gambling on Barkley:

Eagles #1 OL, Giants #30. Nuff said.

Just look at Sanders behind this line and then after he left. Same is going to happen to Swift.

Swift cost twelve cents and was just fine. That's one of the perks for a great line, you don't need to spend 12-16 million for a back

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Saquon put up some numbers behind a division 2 oline in New York. Injuries or not, I've watched him since high school and he is a generational talent. Guy is incredible out of the backfield, you got speed, power and better hands than any #3 WR in the league. Great signing Howie.

I'm a big Jalen Hurts guy, but no excuses this year. Go out there and win 11+ games.

Can someone explain the fascination with Barkley from fans and the media? Is it the draft position? The guy is oft injured and his numbers have been crap 3 of the last 4 years. I just don't get it. If we were getting rookie Saquon, then OK.

hes over-rated. possibly soon to be hated. But its the local PSU homer thing for a lot of people. And living on draft hype.

Hope that with our OL he is just constantly ripping off 40 yard runs though cause he does have the speed and burst to do that.

If we're doing this and spending real money on a back, then we damn well need to use him as a lead back. If I see Gainwell on the field in crunch time, I'm burning something down. If it's $26mm for 2 years, then run him into the ground.

The counter is that with a great line, you don't need to put resources into the RB position. We had a 1,000 yard back for $1 million last year.

Hopefully there's 4 void years on this and we can defer to pain at least.

Agreed.

But playing Devil’s advocate, Saquon is 1 year removed from a 1300 rushing yard yard, 330 receiving yard and 10 TD season where he was the only legitimate player on the offense.

If he’s healthy, with this offense, getting traditional lead back type touches, can he be a 2000 total yard 15+ TD type player?

Maybe…

Barkley is a better pass catcher than I ever remembered but Hurts has never shown to check it down

Eskin has been on the money lately.

You know it's going to happen. They'll justify it with "Not wanting him to get hurt"

Lol

That RB is making $8m per year now though.

Howie loves washed up players who get injured. I expect him to fall apart fast.

barkley's only missed 5 games over the last three seasons. he's far, far from washed up.

also, all i care about is the guaranteed money on any deal and its not bad on this one.

I have a feeling Kellen Moore had an impact on Barkley.

I just can't get on board with paying big money for an oft injured running back for his age 27-30 seasons. Not many running backs thrive at that age. I hope I'm wrong and he delivers the goods and we're all happy with how these three years go.

You pay all of this money to Barkley, he better be a focal point of the offense. That means Brown, Smith, etc are getting fewer looks.

I just really don't like this deal.

McKinney to the Eagles

So we got the exact 3 players everyone said we would get.

Ha, that’s funny

I’d take an average of 1700 and 12 the next 2 seasons.

I’d be pretty content if we signed Kenny Moore, cashman and Justin Simmons. Deal one of Reddick or sweat

Just because the Bears are stupid doesn't mean we need to be.

The play would be to find the next Swift -- guy on a rookie deal who needs a change of scenery.

Whatever, it's done. Just sign a LB and safety please.

Barkley, Huff...who's 3?

This is a good point. If you're using Saquon as your slot receiver on 3rd down, the contract is a bargain. I have to wait and see that happening though.

On the year, Huff now stands alone as the most efficient pass rusher in football. Despite being 60th among edge rushers in pass-rush snaps (87), Huff is seventh in total pressures (26). Huff’s 29.9% pressure rate ranks first among all defensive players in the NFL with at least 30 pass-rush snaps, regardless of position. That’s out of 280 qualified players.

Here are the league leaders in total pressures, alongside the number of pass-rush snaps they have played:

  • 1. Aidan Hutchinson, DET (35) – 210 pass-rush snaps
  • 2. Maxx Crosby, LV (34) – 182
  • 3. Micah Parsons, DAL (29) – 142
  • T4. Chase Young, WAS (27) – 129
  • T4. Nick Bosa, SF (27) – 159
  • T4. T.J. Watt, PIT (27) – 179
  • 7. Bryce Huff, NYJ (26) – 87

And here are the league leaders in pressure rate among edge rushers (min. 50 pass-rush snaps):

  • 1. Bryce Huff, NYJ (29.9%) – 26 pressures on 87 pass-rush snaps
  • 2. Rashan Gary, GB (25.6%) – 20 on 78
  • 3. Myles Garrett, CLE (21.5%) – 23 on 107
  • 4. Chase Young, WAS (20.9%) – 27 on 129
  • 5. Josh Uche, NE (20.5%) – 16 on 78
  • 6. Micah Parsons, DAL (20.4%) – 29 on 142
  • 7. Maxx Crosby, LV (18.7%) – 34 on 182
  • 8. Victor Dimukeje, ARI (18.5%) – 12 on 65
  • 9. Tanoh Kpassagnon, NO (18.4%) – 14 on 76
  • 10. John Franklin-Myers, NYJ (17.9%) – 22 on 123

Where was this stat when Mamula played🤔
