He's never going to spend on LB. Safety he's more willing, but of late its usually bandaids.

People will never learn.

I dunno, maybe not.  PFF has Curl ranked higher on their free agent list.  Even at 12/13 million a year, that’s more than we’re willing to pay I’d think.

I really think Jerome Baker ends up being the LB we grab. No clue on safety, but I’m still hoping for Curl

I mentioned this the other day. Don't thinbk Eagles would go higher than a 5th.

I would say yes

The supposed offer from the Eagles was 3 year $24M, but allegedly $17M was in year 3.

what did he get from Detroit? He proved to be worth less than whatever he was paid since he hardly played 2 years in a row. I give him the Detroit money, or less.

$6.5M

They’ll regret putting that money and those years into Barkley.  Everyone always does.  They’ll regret it sooner rather than later too.

Not a fan of spending on RB but when healthy Barkley is a Beast

I think Howie seeing how much CMC helped that niners offense played a factor in howie getting a 3 prong back to take some pressure off hurts.

Hopefully Barkley can stay healthy and if over the next 3 years the Birds win a suoerbowl barkley will be worth every penny.

Good for him

Raiders gonna Raider

Barkley isn’t nearly as elusive or versatile as CMC.  Barkley was a better pure rb prospect coming out of college and that’s what Howie is paying for.  But that was a long time ago.  He’s a really good starting RB, but he’s not what he was projected to be and never will be.

Id try for 5 and give him 6 if we have to.

Crazy they signed Jimmy G to that contract last year, drafted AOC, just signed Minshew, and yet they still have no long term starter at QB. I like Pierce & also think Telesco is a quality GM but man what a rough spot to be in.

I think you're probably right to be so skeptical of investing big money at the most injury prone, shortest athletic window position in sports...but if you're looking for ways to talk yourself into it, consider that Barkley was hit in the backfield on something like 46% of his touches last year. ...Compared to 29% for Swift. He's going from arguably the worst supporting cast to arguably the best.

Would love Fields as a backup QB. Stylistically fits Jalen and thus the offense.

....... because Bijan is 5 years younger and less than half the cost?

How much does it cost to replace Jalen Carter

Barkley costs less than a top dt by about half

I wouldn’t hate it for a 5th or a 6th. Short term rental for QB2, I don’t hate idea of him being a starter if Jalen goes down + our offense is loaded to where he won’t have to carry, gives McKee another year to develop as potential future QB2. If trade compensation is more than a 5th though I’m out.

Fields stinks.  Having him as your backup QB instead of starting QB doesn't change the fact he stinks, and makes the fact he's one play away from being the Eagles starting QB truly terrifying.

I'm worried about Barkley but remember CMC couldn't stay healthy in Carolina.  Then all the sudden he goes to SF and hardly misses time.

Not sayin that will happen with Barkley but maybe we'll get lucky.

Barkley's home field is now natural grass at the Linc instead of 8 games at Met Life. That has to count for something.

And this is the third time it’s been said but he also averaged more yards after contact per attempt than Swift.  That’s significant.  I think the signing is fine. It won’t kill our cap next year and there is flexibility that Howie can work with across the roster for future caps.

He took the idea from NFL network saying the Eagles or Colts would make sense since he would fit the style of the starting QB if they go down.
