For the right price he’s a nice get. Kind of feels like the longer FA goes the better value he and Hollywood brown might be

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Barkley hasn’t done anything noteworthy in the passing game since 2018.

I don’t mean necessarily in the passing game. Just as an offensive piece, plus with Moore who likes playing 12, makes whoever is WR3 less important given everyone is healthy

I said multiple times going back 2 years that Barkley would be our starting rb in 2024.

Im too tired to search for it, but hooray.

I tend to agree, but let’s paint a scenario…

The deal is essentially 2 years at $13M per year plus performance bonuses.

Now let’s say one of those two years is a monster all-pro year. Somewhere close to 2000 yards, 15 TDs+, etc.

If we get one year out of him at that type of production, is it worth it?

I think you're probably right to be so skeptical of investing big money at the most injury prone, shortest athletic window position in sports...but if you're looking for ways to talk yourself into it, consider that Barkley was hit in the backfield on something like 46% of his touches last year. ...Compared to 29% for Swift. He's going from arguably the worst supporting cast to arguably the best.

Here’s how I’ll look at it; I don’t like the contract.  But I really like the addition.  Barkley, barring injury, is an upgrade on offense in an offseason when they have minimal opportunities to upgrade personnel on that side of the ball.

I need to see one or both of Sweat and/or Reddick get moved before the draft.

You can say it’s early, but if they don’t do that, it means they’ve seen enough of Nolan Smith already.  And that’s not good for anyone to confirm a first round pick went down the drain.

Means we need to draft a TE

Hollywood Brown would be incredible for this offense.  He’d be the Blake Snell addition.  Don’t really need him…but he’d slot right in, pun intended, and would make this offense very exciting.

This WR class will drive Hollywood’s price down also. I’m a huge advocate for signing him

I’m actually surprised Andy hasn’t been interested in him thinking he can be his DeSean Jackson/tyreek hill deep threat. I think he’d be a good fit with Kelce and rice.

Hollywood Brown

Cedric Wilson

Curtis Samuel

Darnell Mooney

4 speedy WR3 names to watch go off the board to other teams that we really should/should have signed.

Curtis Samuel as a no. 3 would be solid. Can move him all over the offense and do a lot with him.

I just hope its not the only significant move in the secondary.

crap, I’m gonna have to read his tweets and try to decipher what the F he saying again

This is probably thinking way too much about things, but you look at Bryce Huff, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, Milton Williams as the new core DL. Jalen Carter has played the most snaps in one year out of that crew with 563 as a rookie. All of these players are going to be asked to take a huge leap in playing time. One good way to keep those guys fresh. Long, sustainable drives with a great running game.

I bet Howie feels we're good at LB with who we have

The QB they draft at 3 has all the help he needs.

Is there a decoder pen for that?

He WR market is very quiet. Calvin Ridley hasn’t signed which is surprising.

Ravens & Derrick Henry is sounding like something according to Josina

Yeah, that’s totally fair. In a vacuum who wouldn’t want Saquon on their team?

The question is if the extra money vs a rookie and mid tier free agent are worth it?

So what kind of production would make the $13M per year worth it?

In my head I see a very likely scenario of one big year from him. I don’t think we pay this money without looking at him as a work horse. Hes got to get a LOT of touches to be worth it. And if he’s getting that kind of action, would one all-pro type year followed by one injury year be worth it?

Figured this to be a real possibility when Edwards signed elsewhere.
