They’ll draft someone who probably wins the starting gig.

I could see vikings making a move for Mccarthy

Got a bunch to still read back on…still don’t like the money attached to the Barkley signing.  One move that i can see happening, and there’s zero mention of this anywhere, but would be a Howie special is a trade with Carolina for Jayce Horn.

That is a Howie move.  But I don't think we put big money on to the CB position for a little while.

I think we will draft one. Maybe even 1st round.  But nothing more expensive than that.

I can’t see them dumping big money either with other needs…but it’s 100% a Howie move, and would be a good one.

Sign me up for that.

Hmmm... maybe because he's already spent too much at that position for mediocre, at best, performance.

Slay can still play, he just needs to stay healthy and we need S’s.  One can only hope that we get the pyrite Bradberry this year as he’s been up and down alternating every year since he’s been in the league.

Will the Eagles be running the wishbone offense now or the veer?

Haven’t seen anything on them attempting to resign him.  Loved him when he was drafted, and he’s lived up to every bit of what people thought he could be coming out of S Carolina.  Panthers picked up his 5th year option, not sure how that figures into things.

Day 2 predictions?

-LB's fly off the board all morning. Eagles make a surprise trade for a LB not involving Sweat or Reddick.

-Eagles miss out on CJGJ but his contract proves it's not a bad thing.

-Eagles sign one of Hollywood Brown, Laviska Shenault, Van Jefferson, Donovan Peoples-Jones or Ray Ray McCloud

-Eagles sign Easton Stick

-Eagle sign Jalen Mills

Generally they go light at RB.

Now one of the last places to go light is CB next year with this year's draft pick and Ringo starting.

So I'm not sure how they'll pay a big contract to an upcoming CB coming off his rookie deal.

I predict an rb in round 5

They need a nickel corner from somewhere, bringing back Maddox to get injured again even on a cheaper deal would be dumb as rocks. No-one on the roster last year looked near ready to step up

Slay is declining and not worth what his contract is for.  He shouldn't have been extended last year, but finish out his deal, which would actually open the door for the team to spend at CB this offseason, when he'll be 34, and likely be even more of a shell of his former self.   But, we'll get to cut him after this season and carry $24M dead for 2025.... or we'll make it a June 1st cut and spread that $24M over two years.

It was a mistake to extend Slay.   It was exacerbated by bringing back Bradberry.   And now we get to pay for it... this season, by limiting what they are willing to spend at CB because of what has already been allocated, and we get to feel that pain for at least one more year, possibly two.

If they gave up Brian Burns for a 2nd and 5th... I can't imagine that the price tag on Horn is incredibly high.    I believe the 5th year option is all salary, so his cap hit would be minimal for the Panthers in a trade scenario.

But Howie is a genius who is never limited by the salary cap.

Meanwhile, I don't know how we can be happy with the idea that Ringo will be starting on the outside, as compared to adding a guy like Horn.

Slay’s contract was pretty bad, i agree, but if I’m betting with free money he’s the one that can remain adequate enough to play.  Bradberry was just beyond stupid.

As constructed currently, the Birds need to go big on S if slay/bradberry are here.

yes Im not saying they wont sign a CB. Im saying they wont spend big. The discussion right now is about Horn. I dont see how theyll fit his coming big contract extension in to their plans.

Because I think theyll add a guy like McKinstry or DeJean or WIggins. And Ill be very excited about that.

yep. Bradberry was the bad one. Slay can at least still play. No problem with keeping him last year. Wish they paid a little less but not gonna bash the move in hindsight. Keeping him felt right.

There’s got to be a high possibility Reddick and/or Sweat are traded by the end of the week with Huff coming in.

Still need a LB, S, and RB before heading into the draft.

Yeah I don't see another splashy contract, truth be told looking at the contracts in the WR market and the money we already spent so far on free agents and Dickerson, I don't see how they extend Smith as of right now unless Reddick / Sweat or both are on their way out.

Trade Sweat, extend Reddick....by exteding Reddick it actually frees up cap space.   That is assuming Reddick's new extension is reasonable.....

I think the solid FA RB market from yesterday showed what teams think of the RB class in the draft.

Is there anything that tracks the average age of draft classes? Would be interesting to see how the NIL money is causing more kids to stay longer in "school”.
