  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

He might be salvageable in the right circumstances. Probably fits better in a pure cover-3 scheme but we'll see how he looks in cover-6. Some better safety and LB play would help too. Byron Maxwell, he ain't.

Eagles missed out on McKinney, got too pricey apparently.  Same thing happened when they wanted Marcus Williams 2 years ago.

Have to imagine Simmons and CJGJ are the focus today.  I'd crap bricks if Howie went after Queen...the only slight hope of this is that it's been oddly quiet on the Queen front and the Eagles are known for a surprise move every now and then.

Would love to see a double-dip at Safety though...Simmons/CJGJ + Chinn (S/LB hybrid tho).

Howie swung for the fences with Barkley.  The upside is generational RB in this offense.  The downside is some money that in the grand scheme isn't as much as people are making it out to be it's just a lot for a RB.  I think they paid Cox nearly that much last year

If Bradberry remained on the team as "depth", we could do worse.

We supposedly offered the same amount of money to Williams as Baltimore and he choose them instead.

I meant as a starter. Not exactly my preferrence, but not outside the realm of plausibility that the situation we were in last year didn't exactly paint him in the best light. I find it difficult to believe the drop-off from the year prior was strictly due to his age.

For now... he is.   I expect him to be cut June 1.  But, I could be wrong.

It’s only day 2, but they don’t seem too concerned about S…which the need there is amplified with Slay/Bradberry.

Supposedly, they were outbid for McKinney.

Did you not watch last year? he was depth

I don’t think Bradberry suddenly forgot how to play CB. Scheme is a big deal for him as he’s been up and down based on who he’s played for, and Vic runs one close to what Gannon did. If we get "average NFL starter” out of him, that’s a big win

Wanting Swift at a lower price ≠ Barkley being trash or me saying as much.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess.

I’ll wager you a virtual beer that Barkley has a better year than Swift. In fairness to your view, Barkley had better have a better year at his price.

So hard to say, he was particularly bad on an extremely awful defense...somehow, his awfulness stood out the most (to me), and that's saying something given the overall S-Show that was going on.  Hard to say why his play dropped off that significantly...age?  Got contract, lost fire? Complete CF on D and everyone lost confidence/fire?  Deployed wrong so he got exposed?

I certainly don't want him starting, would not take that chance.  If he were to stay as a backup, I'd probably be okay with that. Someone noted an interesting trend with him...he has followed every down year with a good bounce-back year.  This would be the bounce-back year, but who knows?

Health aside, he likely will. This is a vastly better team.

My whole point was that I'd rather take Swift and possibly spend more elsewhere (maybe we get McKinney as an example if we go that route), but the Eagles felt comfortable. It is what it is.

I'll buy us both a virtual beer with the hopes that he proves to be worth every penny. Deal?
