I totally disagree, I don't think he looked good at all. He had maybe 3 plays all year where he flashed. Otherwise, was getting totally engulfed by blockers. I don't think he's even remotely ready to start, and in the Eagles system he doesn't have to, because they rotate DL quite often. He will get plenty of snaps. But giving him 60+% of snaps in the NFL when in college he couldn't even prove he could handle that is a crazy extreme jump for a guy like Smith. And if he sucks, then you're completely SOL in a Super Bowl or bust season.

We should see if he can play the MIKE position. Dean, so far, is not answer there.

I think a vet inside linebacker is more or less a certainty I wouldn't be surprised to see Jerome Baker brought in.

I think it's Baker or Jewell, along with Dean, Cunningham, and a day 2 rookie at ILB this season.

Nothing on Curl or Simmons yet?  So there’s still hope we sign a safety.

Smith is an OLB, not a hand in the dirt pass rusher. Sweat is a 4-3 RDE, that's his best position. Reddick is a rush LB who fits an "Elephant" or pass down specialist like Huff. He's good chasing the run but not holding his ground, and is stiff in coverage.

I think Fangio wants less "flash" and more reliability out of his front seven. I'm sure they'll bring in a veteran ILB at some point, and probably another true OLB. But a lot of 3-4 OLBs are undersized college DEs with the athleticism to play OLB, the problem is finding the handful who also have the smarts.

I don't think the goal is a top 5 defense, a middle of the road group that can force a few turnovers is more than enough to win 12 games with this offense, and if the defense jells by the playoffs, anything can happen with a top offense. Still need WR3 and TE2, though the later might come in the draft as Goedert's eventual replacement.

How does that compare to the Gabriel Davis contract?

Didn't expect that not Mooney.

God if Darnell Mooney is getting $13mill a year, Smith is going to be asking for $30mill a year fully guaranteed.

To answer my own question, Gabriel Davis got 3/39 with 24gtd. Mooney got 3/39 with 26gtd.

That is insane.

Gabriel Davis is an upper tier WR2. Mooney had a good rookie season like 3 years ago and has done nothing since.

I was in on trying Mooney as a WR3 if he was available later on.

He just got paid on production he hasnt shown in years like he is a major contributor on playoff teams.

I thought that was a bit of a bargain for Davis. Its pretty crazy for Mooney.

I think we would all do that deal with him over Barkley's deal.

by the way, it is a crime that Shocker was not able to be here for the Hennessy signing.

Wasn't it reported they wanted a 3 down back?

Is more than nothing automatically something.  Is nothing an absolute?  Or is there a range of nothing, where more than nothing can still be nothing?

We wouldn't.  Henry is a deep set, QB under center RB.  Not a fit in the scheme here.

I’m not huge on Curl. I’m not sure he gives you much more than what we already have.

I’d rather have Barkley pending he plays the majority of the season

is Lamar Jackson going to be under center all the time now?

Howie will sign CJGJ today

Henry is that.

That’s not a bad deal, but I have a sense that Derek Henry might regress more next year based off what he looked like the first 16 weeks. Before the week 18 game against Jacksonville, he was averaging 3.9 yards per per carry. He went off against the jags to boost it to 4.2. The jags were terrible down the stretch. There’s a chance he’s closer to what he was the first 16 games (and maybe even worse )he played than what he looked like in week 18.

Be interesting to see if the Ravens are smarter than everyone else and he still has gas in the tank or can be as effective on lighter duty.
