The Eagles did a terrible job of avoiding leaks this year.

Howie will fix it!

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Nicholas Morrow?   Mark Simoneau?

In fairness simoneau had positional versatility that morrow didn’t… he could kick FGs from within 40 if need be and do kickoffs poorly

IS CGJ perfect? No

But he is what this defense sorely lacks. And that's being a playmaker / turnover creator. Outside of Reddick, we didn't really have what I'd call playmakers on D last year. Hopefully Jalen develops into one, but you need someone in the back-7 who can create / capitalize on INTO chances

Both things can be true.

CJGJ burned some bridges on his way out of town a year ago.   Meanwhile, I think most people wanted someone else.

Funny thing is that a lot of us wanted him back last year but he wanted more money

Unlike LB there are still some really good options left so he really hasn't.

CJGJ, Justin Simmons, Kamren Curl, Julian Blackmon

I'm still confident they will get one of CJGJ or Simmons. LB looks like it's going to be a shitshow again.

All 5 of the ILBs last year had PFF's in the 60s.   3 were above average,  2 were below average.   Overall.  average,  not shitshow.   VanSumeren had the highest PFF of the ILBs with 69.5

Hindsight says that the Eagles should have kept TJ Edwards,  who had a PFF in the 80s in 2022.   The Eagles, at ILB,  went from above average to merely average.

The CBs sucked.  Slay and Ringo were average,  in the 60s,  and the Eagles had 7 CB/S with  PFFs in the 50s or even the 40s.   The shitshow is in the CB group.  Add 1st round draft pick there.

The S group lost Bynar,  who had a PFF in the 70s,  would think he'd need to be replaced.

I can't think of many linebackers available for trade. CJ Mosley maybe? But he's 31 going on 32. The only other is Dre Greenlaw who Niners guys speculated if they'd trade him, but he's coming off that achilles tear.

Dre Greenlaw??!! Ffffffffffffffffff no.

Calling my shot: The Jags have a high priced LB in Oluakon (sic) a first round pick in Devin Lloyd and then they drafted Muma. If we trade for someone, it’s one of those three, and Sweat is involved.

I could see Doug interested in a Sweat reunion. Would LOVE Foyesade here.

Wonder where they intend to play him. Pair up with 2 high with Blankenship and bring back Maddox for the slot?

Maddox??!! Ffffffffffffffffffff no.

Hopefully CJGJ is happy with the contract. He seems like a D head when things aren’t great.

Would be interesting to see how he'd react if the season went toes up like last year.

I will say it’s telling that Philly and the Titans with DC Dennard Wilson (his former DB coach) were the two finalists. They know him well.

Linebackers are gone.  Great job Howie

Agreed.  Great job Howie.

The Eagles don't need a new, expensive ILB.

How good is Baker on a scale of Casey Matthews to Fred Warner

Skews more towards Warner. But definitely two tiers below.

Maddox sucked last year,  with a PFF below 60.

Howie's 2024 LB bargain bin shopping guide

Really good - Jerome Baker

Good but really old - Bobby Wagner, Eric Kendricks

Upgrade but still kind of meh - Willie Gay, Cody Barton, Tyrel Dodson

Wildcard - Devin White

Who we will probably end up with - Zach Cunningham, Denzel Perryman

Zach was fine last year.  Slightly above average.

Lmao

Interesting that none of the announcements from the national guys call CJGJ a safety. It’s safety/nickel and DB.

What is Kamu Grugier-Hill doing these days?

Yup. I think they saw what Moore got and figured he can play some safety but he’s really good in the slot. And that’s why he got that contract

I actually think he just got married. I remember seeing something on IG

CJGJ gets turnovers which statistically are one of most impactful things in a football game.  Agree there are pros and cons to other parts of his game

Yeah, agree. He has flaws but going from what they had last year, to a guy that was leading the league in INTs last time he was here, should be quite noticeable.

3 years,   33 Million?
