Yea there were no amazing free agents but damn near every single one of the ones gone were far and away better than what we have. So now the only options are 1) trading for a linebacker and 2) relying on a draft pick that is probably going to be a day 3 pick based on this team's draft history.

People are annoyed that nothing has been done about what is by far the biggest hole on the team, so yea FA is basically over in that regard because the top options are gone. Any FA signing now is basically going to be a Cunningham or Morrow level player

It's not over, it looks bleak, but it's not over. While I find it extremely unlikely, they could trade for a good starting LB (as a couple of people have reported) and draft one with one of their two 2nd round picks. It's only March 14th.....but it is obvious they will not be using free agency to upgrade the position.

We can hope Howie trades for a player and they're more Brown/Swift than byard/quinn/Tate/Albert O and we can hope he bucks organizational philosophy and goes LB in the first 64 picks. But these are hopes and prayers, wishcasting. When they were being linked to 5000 free agents and none of them were LB that's what people are upset about because it just looks like you said, continuing the path of not giving a F about the position.

I'll hold out hope for the draft, this team doesn't really give out big money to FA RBs but they did this year. Could be a year of firsts and they go LB early

Gonna be honest, I think adding Baker would be straight up good and Dodson would be a really solid rotational pick up, Baker is way better than anyone we had last year.

And Queen was not a strong LB before Roquan smith carried the load. It would be the opposite situation here

It'll never happen, but in the event we sent Sweat/whomever for LB help in a trade....who's a realistic target?

I just got the latest "intel" from dumb and dumber, er, I mean Caplan and Mosher. According to them if you listened on Monday you would know they were right that "Howie would be aggressive in free agency" and also don't listen to anyone else but them because according to multiple league execs Saquon is NOT good in pass protection.

Saquon is not Samaje Perine, but he's a good pass blocker.

So they were saying that they needed scouts to figure out that Sweat was freelancing? Watch one game in the 2nd half of the year and it's all over the place.

What a joke.

Sweat "doing his own thing" = selling out on a speed rush he would inevitably lose if he didn't perfectly time the snap, and then running in sand 10 yards behind the play.

as we know, Caplan doesnt know football.

So if a guy who was a good pass rusher has a bad 8 game stretch in a defense that was essentially uncoached then he loses all value. I’m not buying it

Was there an ILB that better as his position than Saquon, CJGJ, or Huff?
