  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Think they would have brought him in by now. They've showed no interest.

Why do you hate us?   Can't we all just look for GOOD football... and then everyone benefits?

The Eagles shouldn’t trade for Fields because he will be too expensive.  Year four salary $3.2 million, year five though would be $26 million.  Not a fan of Huntley but that is basically what Fields is.  Lots of alternative vets like Josh Dobbs.

Why would it be a foregone conclusion that year 5 salary would be so high?  Howie is known for extending and renegotiating contracts with players.  I have no reason to believe that he'd just give that number for year 5.

The idea of bringing in Fields is that you could attempt to rehabilitate him this year, and potentially flip him for a higher pick next offseason.   If he plays and looks good... that's the benefit.  If not, you've lost very little.  (Of course, I am suggesting a trade for Fields only for a 6th round pick, or one of the 5th round comps.)

It is 100% the same thing... but its ESP, so you should just ignore it.

Meanwhile, this team NEEDS a backup QB.  The idea that Tanner McKee can be that guy is a nice idea, but I think its much closer to wishcasting than it is reality.

ESP is just a younger, more annoying version of Eskin.

I’d be thrilled, but it doesn’t seem like there’s interest.

No chance Fields signs an extension that's below the 5th year option. He'll be a backup here, and his play will be to get to FA as soon as possible to try and find a situation where he can play or at least compete for a starting job. So you'd be trading a 5th for a 1 year rental.

Are we allowed to point out that Fields is terrible? The national media loves to make excuses for him, hype him up, but he is just not an NFL quarterback. I'd much rather sign a vet backup like Huntley and keep our picks.

I want Cooper so badly. I love his potential. That Saints pick seems like the perfect spot for him, may have to trade up a bit.

It's becoming pretty obvious that the Eagles (guessing lead by Fangio) think Sweat basically tanked it last year and was simply out for himself. Which makes the fact that he didn't get a sack the 2nd half of the year even more amazing -- he was playing selfish ball and still couldn't get a sack. If that's the assessment, and they want him out of the building, I guess cutting him is on the table.

Cooper or Wilson would be awesome.

Only the team that has him can pickup his 5th year option. If eagles decline his option he’d extend or go to FA. He’d have no leverage really to demand his 5th year option be picked up. Compensation of picks would be the only consideration.

Of course you are allowed to point that out.   But, have you seen his 40 time?

I was responding to a post asking "why the 5th year salary would be so high?" It's because there's a 0.0% chance Fields signs an extension with the Eagles if we trade for him. You either pick up the 5th year option, or he walks.

It's just funny to watch the national media hype him up and be confused why there's no interest in him. He's the new Scam Newton.

I think we are going to look back at the Huff signing as a really, really good one.

Yup. Barkley gets all the noise because of his draft status, CJGJ because of his time here before, but THAT is the big move of the off-season.
