I wouldn't depend on them, but teams primarily improve through players already on the roster taking a step up, not FA or the draft. This is b/c you only add a couple impact FAs (and a bunch of depth) each year, while most draft picks need a year or two to raise their game at the NFL level. So it's the guys you drafted/signed the last couple years who've been backups and on STs who help you make that jump (or don't).

I did notice that Zack Baun did play HS QB,  with an emphasis on a lot of running.  More rushing yards than passing yards.  And nice video is available to watch.  All of his hudl is him playing basketball.  
 

The Saints actually put that video together after they drafted him, of him running for TDs in high school.

Did a reporter actually ask about that?
