I really just wanted to sign a youngish LB with a high floor to a multi year deal. Those guys were available, but admittedly got good money (Cashman, Brooks, Al-Shaair) and a flyer like Kenneth Murray got crazy money. I had no interest in paying Queen either. Devin White, though, was the absolute last LB I would have wanted to sign. He just doesn’t fit unless Fangio is making some changes. I don’t see how a guy five years into his career is going to learn instincts and reining in his aggression.

Corley would be an absolute beast in this offense.

I’ve been obsessed with adding him for the past 18 months. He’d bring a dynamic we just don’t have.

Plus there are a ton of fast WRs in this draft, so if we need a deep threat we can get one later in the draft.

Looking at the CJGJ and White signings, it feels like the team is prioritizing splash plays on defense over consistency. Those 2, along with Huff, aren’t guys who play disciplined football. Huff doesn’t do well against the run, White is super aggressive and CJGJ is a maniac.

It feels like the philosophy may be to try and have the defense make a handful of game impacting plays every week, even if they get burned on occasion as well.

I’m sure Fangio will love that.

Also, I’d guess Cunningham is coming back. Dean, White, Cunningham and a draft pick (hopefully Cooper or Wilson). Not great, but infinitely better than last year.

Ill solve it for you. Corley shouldnt be anywhere near round 2.

But why settle for a slot only type WR that early in a draft loaded with talent at the WR position?

I love his physicality, but I think Wilson’s speed/explosiveness is what our offense needs more.

I dunno, does Parker move the needle at WR? A 31 year old who can't separate and a PR are the only WR on the team behind AJ and DeVonta. I'm all for adding a WR from a stacked draft class but I wouldn't be opposed to another WR.

They need a TE2 and a veteran backup QB. They could use another LB and S too. DT depth is light. Only 2 RB on the team but I can see them only carrying 3 with the 3rd being a draft pick.

If they don't trade Sweat this week, I think he's here until the draft and gets traded for pennies during the draft.

Nah, Parker doesn’t move the needle there for me. While I would like another WR before the draft, I’m just not sure they sign another one, I wouldn’t be surprised if they roll with Devonta/AJ/Parker/rookie. Not saying that’s what I want, but I think happens. I think we see a WR drafted Day 2 of draft for sure though.

I think you can find TE2/RB3/backup DT in the draft with the collection of 5th round picks they have. I did forget to mention in my post that I think they’ll sign a FA QB, they seem to be involved in that market too.

LB & S I’m not sure what happens. I’ve said before that I wouldn’t mind Cunningham brought back as depth if it’s cheap, I’d really like to see a LB grabbed in Rd 2. We know Howie’s draft MO so doubt it happens, but he signed a RB to a big contract so maybe he breaks another one of his usual stances. Hopefully White & possibly Cunningham brought back doesn’t stop Eagles from drafting a LB. I’d still like another safety maybe brought in, not sure where CJGJ truly plays but gives them some flexibility to either draft a safety or draft a nickel CB & put CJGJ at other spot.

It doesn’t fit with his traditional style of making teams execute long drives, but we’ve seen how that looks against talented QBs.

Hopefully fangio doesn’t call him a shark in the water

Or they think they have a good plan but Howie just doesn't know defense and our other front office guys don't really either and this is what we have

So 3-4 front 7 before the draft:

Carter-Davis-Williams

Reddick-White-Dean-Huff?

Infinitely better I think is a big stretch. I’d go with maybe slightly less shiddy but still pretty shiddy

If the Eagles consider themselves done (for now) it would be highly disappointing. After the season they had and how bad the back 7 was, your "big signings" being CJGJ and Devin White would be so disappointing. Their splash moves were RB and edge which were not even in the top 5 of their issues in 2023.

I’m not sure White’s floor is even better than what Cunningham gave us last year, and I hated having him on the team.

If White and Cunningham turn out to be the same player, White is still faster. Cunningham seems to have lost about 3 steps for some reason despite not being very old. If nothing else, Cunningham was a solid run defender most of the time. White should be able to get to a few more plays with his speed. Its not much, I know.

I wanted those guys you mentioned too.

But, I still think we will draft a potential stud. And theres still a chance Dean turns out good too.

We were running Nicholas Morrow and the corpse of Shaq Leonard out there. It’s an upgrade.

I like this strategy if the offense can consistently put points on the board and the d-line can consistently win in the trenches.

If not, well we see what happened last year

Give me Xavier Leggette day 3 for our slot.

Maybe the back 7 was bad because the defensive coordinator had no idea what he was doing.

Well hopefully White is more than a corpse. We’ll see but I’m not optimistic

Didn't realize he was taken fifth overall in 2019 and he's just 26. Not too excited by this but maybe a change of scenery will help.

Really need to get Cooper in the draft.

Oh,  not at all.   Getting Devin White is more than enough.  He had great combine numbers that year.  These days you can get ILBs with comparable,  top combine numbers as UDFA,  like VanSumeren,  then,  5 years or so ago,  Devin White's numbers were more rare.  And Devin White had really really good numbers.   Not as good as VanSumeren,  or Nolan Smith,  but 9.38 ras

ras compare as LB Devin White v VanSumeren
https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=23189&p2=19489&pos=LB

IMO a reddick extension is howie's next move
