When Gannon left, and we hired Desai who we were lead to believe was an up and coming, smart, Fangio disciple we said- even with less talent on defense, we may see improved performance based on having a DC who knows what he is doing.

We got burned on that line of thinking.

But we can try it again. Fangio might be able to make this thing work with just the slight upgrade to LB and S that we have made. AND, we still have the draft. So this can be looking significantly better within a few weeks.

So I’m turning my attention to a second safety (assuming CJGJ splits time at nickel/safety) and backup QB.

Id love to have Blackmon. As far as QB goes, Huntley would be … whatever. Tannehill probably would be the best available.

Worst LB in the league against the run last season?

Shhh. Mods unfiltered the KA word so that’s what we have to do all the time with anything the Eagles do.

Looking at the CJGJ and White signings, it feels like the team is prioritizing splash plays on defense over consistency. Those 2, along with Huff, aren’t guys who play disciplined football. Huff doesn’t do well against the run, White is super aggressive and CJGJ is a maniac.

It feels like the philosophy may be to try and have the defense make a handful of game impacting plays every week, even if they get burned on occasion as well.

Which makes no sense for a Fangio defense

Todd Bowles was an elite defensive mind and he couldn’t make it work with White over the past three years, and that was with an elite LB playing next to him.

Whatever. Maybe he needed a change of scenery. Maybe he can break his bad habits. Maybe Fangio is exactly what he needed.

If Hollywood Brown is too rich for us, S seems to be where the best talent is left with Blackmon.

Id still take a flyer on Chark but thats not likely to be a much better move than the meh Parker signing at this point.

Blackmon is where its at.

The Bears get Keenan Allen for a 4.

Chargers definitely going Nabers in round 1 now.

I still think they are strongest trade down team for someone going up for a QB but yeah hard to argue with this

Bears are going to have some serious talent on offense. Whoever the Qb is is going to have all the weapons to succeed.

Justin Herbert meanwhile has Johnston and Joshua Palmer at Wr and that’s pretty much it

I'm not going to lose sleep over Devin White as he's a camp body.

WTF are the Chargers doing?

no.

Yes.

oh. Backup QB still has Wentz.

And if the eagles dont mind a pocket passer as the backup QB with interest in Flacco again, maybe they like Garoppolo.

RB may have talent left after the draft. JK Dobbins, Edwards-Helaire, D'Ernest Johnson, Hunt...

WR still has Tyler Boyd out there who isnt the speed guy we have been focused on but is a legit #3.

DL can try a Howie special if super cheap for injured Tyus Bowser

S is very intriguing right now. At some point, does Simmons become a bargain? Blackmon. Curl still available?

CB has some guys who are lower tier starters, but do occasionally make some plays unlike Bradberry last year- Adoree Jackson, Ahkello Witherspoon. Vets like Xavien Howard and White.

yeah we may be just about done for now because a lot has happened in just a few days. But at some point some of these guys are going to drop their price to where we get active again.

Yep. Moore, Allen and Swift is a good trio to put around a rook

I think keeping Allen and moving on from Bosa or Mack would have been better. Give your QB something.

& they still have pick 9. Can beef up their OL some more, or trade back pick up some day 2 picks + whatever else. Exciting time to be a Chicago fan for sure

To be honest, I could kind of understand the Keenan Allen trade, he’s going to be 32 and he’s in the last year of his contract. And you’re likely not gonna give him a contract extension at that age. That said i do think Allen was likely worth more for 1 year then a 4th round pick but they also clear 23 mil in cap space by making the trade

remember when Blacklock was a DT that flew up draft boards? Looks like he has suffered injuries pretty much every year of his career. Or just doesnt get on the field?

Maybe an intriguing name for a very late TC body type signing.
