Howie throwing a lot of bandaids again.  Only Huff, CJGJ signed long term, couple years for Barkley.  All the rest on one year deals and mostly prove it deals.  Hennessy prove health.  White prove getting benched was not a reflection of your ability.  Parker prove you still have something left.  Baun prove you are a LB.  You can throw Okwara and Kinnard into that bunch too.

Draft for the future has to take that into consideration when ranking BPAs.

But that's how you build teams in today's NFL, pay a dozen core players at key positions, draft to fill holes cheaply for 3 years (rookie year usually a redshirt), and fill holes.

At least he's filling holes with younger payers who can be extended if they show they're good fits. That's a better strategy than hoping to get one more season out of a dying veteran (unless you get him cheap enough to cut in favor of a UDFA if he doesn't work out).

Also, the McCaffrey in the top 10 buzz came very, very late in the process and it was a shock to pretty much everyone. Nobody had him ranked as a top 10 prospect.

He wasnt big enough. Only 205 isnt enough to hold up as an every down back. He wasnt that elusive. He made big plays busting through big holes. He looked like an exceptional receiving back who could line up at WR as well. And a big play runner. But not a workhorse RB. AND he already had a ton of miles on him from his college career. Heavy, heavy usage.

His weaknesses are basically the same as Shipley. However, Shipley is actually faster, and slightly bigger.

Daniel Jeremiah had him as his 25th ranked prospect and 3rd RB in January of 2017. https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-50-prospects-for-2017-nfl-draft-0ap3000000775479  He had him as 15th in March.

In his final Mock draft he had CMC being drafted by the Panthers.  https://www.nfl.com/news/jeremiah-mock-draft-5-0-trubisky-mahomes-go-back-to-back-0ap3000000802161

Howie has completed his task of getting to the draft without any glaring needs on the roster.  He can convince himself he’s filled vacancies at RB, LB, S, and OL depth.  We’ll see if his free agent acquisitions turn out better than last year.

I don’t mind the Devin White signing.  He might not be a scheme fit, but neither was Cunningham, and he played pretty well on balance — considering he was signed to the roster in August.

Hopefully in the draft the Eagles can come away with a CB, IOL, TE, and WR with those first 4 picks in the top 100.

People have unreasonable expectations. Even with his cap magic, Howie wasn't going to add three $20+M contracts in FA - and that's the cost of a top player at most positions, even S and LB will cost you $15+M for a difference maker. He got Huff and Barkley, two players with upside, and extended Dickinson, an elite OG. CGJ is a good NCB who can play safety, White an athletic LB with upside but flaws, Parker a body at WR, Hennessy another upside addition as OL depth. I'd say that's a damn good haul.

We lost two top veterans in Kelce and Cox, but both were slipping last year, love 'em but it was time. Jurgens needed to move to C, Carter to become the big dog on defense.

Barkley >> Swift.

Huff >> Sweat at OLB (Sweat better suited to 4-3 DE)

White >> Cunningham/Leonard

CGJ > Byard

It's still going to come down to 2nd and 3rd year players stepping up in camp and seizing jobs and leadership roles. McKee, Covey, Steen, Ojomo, Smith, Ringo, McPhearson, McCollum are probably the key players. And other young players raising their game, Mailata has another level, Jurgens, Davis, Carter, Williams, Dean, Blackenship.

One drafted player might start, but most are not going to be significant contributors until 2025 and 2026, same with UDFAs and SFAs Howie adds this summer.

Maybe it means nothing but the Eagles list CJGJ as a corner on the app.

He played well as a nickel.

The whole area is overun with people, cars, cement, housing.  We'll be moving in a couple years to get out of here.  The beaches where I live are divine, love all the wildlife, but there are other places in the world with great beaches and nicer people.

Where are you thinking alternatively to live?

I don’t think anyone in here is being unreasonable. Speaking for myself, I just preferred different players to CJGJ, White, and Parker. I would have saved money at RB to get a higher floor player than White and Parker for sure.

For sure. It’s his best position.

How many Howie's? I know most won't love DT but think he provides some serious upside and too good to pass up.  Like Washington in the slot a nice big prospect for Stout and some solid LB's for depth.

First step to move up for a QB.

IMO we still have a half need a at safety. In a nickel fomartion if CJGJ ever moves up in the slot we have Sydney and Reed on the field at the same time. There should be a seasoned safety with the high cover there

I would suspect the coaches dictated the FA moves, this is where coach input is vital, they've seen these guys play, they know their schemes, and what they want.

The draft is more scouts, Stoutland gives input b/c he directly coaches players, but I'd suspect the coordinators have less influence (too little time, too many players).

That would explain replacing Sweat with Huff, Swift with Barkley (Moore probably looked at teams heavily blitzing Hurts), etc.

I think there are more moves, they need a slot WR, more depth at ILB and S and RB, etc.

Driscoll and Opeta are still out there, probably bring one back.

TE2 is a big hole unless they think Calcaterra or Albert O can step up, but neither is a blocker.

But most of these roles are filled with low cost veterans, SFAs and draft picks.

Vikings are positioning to move up into the top 5 by acquiring the 23rd overall pick.

I wonder if Howie got that offer.

The Vikings will end up with JJ McCarthy. And they’ll regret it. He’s not worth trading up multiple firsts for.

Of course.  Doubtful that he wanted to move out of the first round this early.

Keep open the possibility for a sweeter offer on draft night.

I could see them bringing back Maddox.

I actually like it from Minnesota's perspective more. Got a first rounder by essentially giving up a 2nd, 6th and a future second which by draft value chart since it’s a future second has the equivalence to a 3rd rounder.

Top 5 being the important phrase, literally.  Gotta assume NYG would be taking QB at #6

New England at 3 is ideal trade partner if they are willing to move back to 11 and stockpile picks. They apparently are willing to trade out of 3 if Daniels isn’t there. However been some rumors on twitter they might trade for fields and then just draft Marvin Harrison jr. Which likely makes the cardinals at 4 a trade partner.

I would hope he would have turned it down. It doesn't seem like Houston got that much
