If I had to guess I'd bet Lurie really would have liked to let Sirianni go too but was afraid of starting to be viewed as another Panthers or Raiders where they change HCs more than I change my underwear - (and maybe if last year was the final year of his contract he would not have been signed to a new deal). Or maybe they really did feel like he earned a chance to right the ship since he did lead them to the Super Bowl just a year ago and had them at 10-1 to start this season (before the wheels came off) and will see how next season goes before making any kind of decision on his future.

Which could lead to yet another change at OC in 2025 to go with that new HC is this doesn’t work out. That would be four consecutive seasons with a new OC. Hopefully the next HC (if it comes to that) will at least be able to call his own plays.

It’s not rocket science there is a learning period but it shouldn’t take a year. im assuming Howie is going to address LB and S in free agency. Not sure it will be top name but he’ll get guys All 32 teams changed OCs in the past 2 years? If true that is crazy! I have lowered my expectations (to basically nothing) for the upcoming season. It very well could come together sooner than a year which would be great but I'm just not counting on it. A lot will have to do with getting Hurts back on track, how Brown buys in, what happens with the OL (does Kelce retire? if so does Jurgens slide over? and if so how much of a drop do we see? what happens with RG, RB, WR3?). I have questions dammit!

As far as HC change in 2025 Lurie probably feels he got the best of both worlds here. He is installing an OC that he probably thought has fresher ideas but wasn't ready to be HC 3 years ago. If the O looks promising then great maybe he's your next HC. If the O stinks then you've probably learned things that we don't know today to inform your next move.
January 29, 20241 yr I'm on board with the new hires at OC and DC. With the Fangio obsession...and now having the man himself...I have no doubt Howie will try to get decent players at whatever positions Vic says he needs most for his scheme to work with this defense. I imagine the back 7 is going to be completely reshaped. We shouldn't need quite as much on offense...we'll probably take an OT in the draft (round 1) and hopefully we can find a good WR3 to add an element to the offense. I think Moore prefers 3 WR sets.

But obviously we don't really know what kind of route runner he is...he'd have to be Wes Welker-esque. I wanted Tank Dell last year. Hoping we get someone similar with the speed to add that explosive element and also force safeties to play deep.

I agree with all that but will add we will also have a need at RB (Gainwell currently the only one under contract entering 2024) and maybe a RG if Kelce hangs em up and Jurgens slides over.

Agreed we do but I think those are "minor" pieces in terms of the cap hit? Especially given we might have around $40M.

I don't know if 40 is real with the can kicked contracts that might need to be eaten with guys coming off books. But I agree RB should be doable. I'd like to see Swift kept

True, but I was mainly thinking positions where we'll likely spend upper-echelon resources. RB is a position where we'll prob find another cost-effective player...certainly won't be breaking the bank or using a 1st or 2nd round pick. If we take an OT in Round 1 as the presumed eventual LJ replacement, that player and/or Steen should be competing for RG if Jurgens slides to C. WR3 will be interesting to see if address it and how aggressively. The clear focus for the offseason has to be in the back 7. FA and the draft.

I'd like to see them use a second or a third on a WR to be honest. Someone young who can come in here as WR3 and who knows who we might find. We know Brown is tied down and we need to tie Smith down to a long term deal but ultimately I don't think both are going to still be on this roster in say 2-3 years so we need to try and find that long term replacement for one of them (most likely Brown).

I’m okay with the hire, as long as we run the ball, get under center more, and get some creative formations to combat the blitz I’m good whoever it is. DC I’m much more worried about because Fangio will put an Edge rusher on CeeDee Lamb and give 7 yards of cushion on the outside like we did last season. I mean, sadly our last 3-4 DCs have been doing that. Seems like Lurie/Howie like the bend but don't break crap so much they hire guys with that philosophy.

The problem with Frazier is that with any success, he would have been gone in as soon as one season for a head coaching position. Vic and Ron won't be a hot HC candidate any time soon.

We've been neglecting those positions since he's been with the team, save for a lucky free agent signing here and there.
