Because there is any scenario where Spags triple teams Dotson instead?

Was Dotson tripled on this play? Do you know? 2nd and 11 is not an automatic passing down, please.

This is just how extensive the task is for me just to point out the obvious here. My patience paid off

Well... that's enough of this one for me. You gotta be kidding me... could have been 2 sentences instead all this BS. 🙄

Serious psychological issues or problems expressing the simple things. My apologies if there is an actual diagnosis of a mental disorder, can't take those lightly, but J.C. was that painful to grind out a simple answer from an adult.

So many other factors you can't discern from a still shot. Sure looks like a blitz with Bark either picking one up or doing a chip block and running a short pattern. IDK he acts like he's never seen a blitz before

The simple answer was where we began. Everything afterwards I was forced to endure.

I’ve never seen a pass blitz called when the DC was selling out to stop the run. Yes…making leaps and bounds of progress Everywhere today.

Simple Google " Hurts pass to Dotson in the Superbowl " and it pops up. I was trying to figure out the significance... can never be a direct answer???

They blitzed on a play...therefore Barkley choked and Hurts carried the team. Simple sentence could have sufficed.

This is a football…say it together…FOOT—BALL

Doesn't matter...a blitz is 5 or more...or anyone who isn't down with their hand on the ground.

They put more guys in the box to disguise where the blitz is coming from.

Beautifully picked up by Barkley

You and I will have to disagree on the definition of a blitz. The origin of the word from World War II describes how the firepower comes from outside the locality of the direct action. In war the locality being ground zero. In football the locality being the line of scrimmage. When the base Defense of a team is a 5-2-4 alignment, rushing 5 is just SOP. Nothing is coming into the LOS action other than the D-Linemen. So no blitz. Same is true for 8 in the Box where all the LBs are jammed into the Los, plugging the gaps that the opposing Offense is looking to exploit.

Spags deployed 8 in the Box throughout the game. With the 8 he combined active penetration rushing with reactive mush rushing. He desperately wanted gap discipline so that Saquon would have nowhere to run without being confronted by one or more Chiefs defenders.

Interestingly enough Fangio arguably did not deploy a single blitz in the whole game. He had a light box of only four through out the game, and Baun and Burks played traditional off ball as LBs. There definitely were plays where either Baun or Burks rushed the passer, but in every one of those plays one of the D-Linemen, typically Smith or Hunt dropped back into coverage, so there was never more than 4 Eagles rushing the passer in any play. It was masterful.

The direct answer was supplied to start with. Let me slow down some more…where were we at? oh yes..teams in green and red…also fans in crowd. We are the green team. Hurts wears number 1.

All completely run defending against Barkley on 2nd and 11 right? That’s not just your story…but seems to be the majority opinion around these parts. Nothing says obvious rushing down like 2nd and 11

8 in the Box does not determine how the 8 will be deployed. Further, when aggressively defending against the run three things are vital. First, and most important is gap discipline. Second is penetration to try and achieve a TFL. Third is maintaining the edge.

When you look at your still screenshot, which of those three keys are the 5 Chiefs players accomplishing, and are any of the 6 Chiefs not shown in your screenshot accomplishing any of those three keys?

The Eagles had a play where they rushed Baun...was not considered a blitz because Both Nolan and Sweat dropped in coverage.

That's great....in football when they send the entire DL ...plus an extra...the extra guy is considered a Blitzer. The NFL uses the balance sheet approach on this one.

Number one is referred to as Super Bowl MVP. Can anybody here guess how he earned this title?

So you think if 8 are in the box... and they all go after the QB...that it's not officially counted as a blitz?

Because they didn't want to give it to Sweat. Was going to take a miracle for someone other than Hurts or Mahomes to get it.

You lost…it’s over…time to move forward to a new subject.

The play that was considered a blitz was when Baun rushed along with all 4 DL.

Was going to take a miracle for Hurts to be denied SB MVP each time he’s stepped on that stage indeed

Sure you didn’t go on and on and on about how no QB ever had won it all with Hurts style…so it would never happen. Just me pulling BS out of thin air. Really you and everybody here has completely agreed with me all this time.

That is Ancient History. Why don’t you let it go, or is it your mission to be 100% negative in your comments?

With that said, all players. Evolve and grow. Hurts is no exception. Many of the skills and capabilities he displays today, he did not have earlier in his career.

In addition, players have good games and bad games. The Hurts of the Super Bowl was far, far superior to the Hurts of the Wild Card.
