Sorry I sometimes forget your hearing loss. It was explained all in the video of what occurred. Hurts signaled Smitty presnap. Then Hurts discussed it immediately afterwards with Smitty on the sideline. Hurts expected Smitty to stop…Smitty countered with explaining to Hurts he did what had been discussed between the two previously during the week in preparations. You could feel Smitty cut himself off from the detail he was about to expose….being that microphones are everywhere nowadays.

Hurts, like always so consistently, went straight to all the O starters taking responsibility making sure to keep morale up.

If it was discussed during the week that Smitty wasn't, stopping why would Hurts expect him to stop on this play?? Makes no sense. The detail he was about to expose was the QB didn't make the throw

Now sorry to bring up context l, detail and fact. But this agenda photo crop is when Hurts is throwing. The S just made his first step towards breaking away from Goedert. Too late to actually judge anything on at that point. Sure after Hurts threw the high S made his move towards the outside opening up Goedert. Nothing but pure hindsight!

So if Smitty was on the same page with Hurts would it have been an easy completion with huge YAC potential? No need to wait for an answer responding…because it very clearly would have been a huge play.

If…or when we get the playcall in early enough so Hurts can actually look over reading the D presnap …most great plays from ANY QB are produced from going to his first read he concludes on. You have the playcall…effected by the D positioning, personnel and playcall….so a QB makes his read presnap most of the time. That’s how you play this game called football in fact.

How often did Tom Brady throw to his first read? My educated guesstimate would be somewhere near 75 percent of the time. That’s 3 out of every four successful throws.
