January 26Jan 26 Be interesting to see if we have interest in any of the coaches on the playoff teams…. I know Davis Webb seems to be a popular name the pass game coordinator and QB coach for the BroncosRams staff has handful of coaches as well we could look into
January 26Jan 26 Was still hoping we would interview David Shaw but doesn’t seem like we have any interest
January 26Jan 26 We interviewed Miami former OC Frank Smith and Texans QB coach Jerrod Johnson for the OC job
January 26Jan 26 LSU Weis Jr also informed the team that he plans to stay at LSU so can count him out as well
January 26Jan 26 Wondering if we interview Nathan Scheelhaase now that the rams are out of the playoffs…. Rams pass game coordinator and was the OC/QB coach at Iowa St before going to the rams. Also believe we interviewed him before hiring Patullo last year or maybe it was Moore in 2024….Reports saying Cleveland has interest in him as the HC though as well.

January 26Jan 26 Author I salivate over Jeremiah Smith (WR from OSU), but he's staying in school to finish his education. He will be ready for the '27 draft, Excellent replacement for AJ Brown, which obviously won't help us if we let AJ walk this year. That being said Carnell Tate should go high. He's the smaller Y guy. Smith would be a prototypical starting X in '27. Both would be out of reach unless we got a ridiculous round 1 offer for AJ. If we did a post June deal for AJ we'd have a shot at Smith, but then we'd need some kind of "filler" for the next season. Or we keep AJ for '26, then maybe trade him for a top round 1 in '27 which would get us Smith possibly. Very tricky situation we have here LOL
January 26Jan 26 I'm convinced after watching the games this weekend that a catch is whatever the official decides it isI've seen the Kupp 1st down catch called incomplete and have seen it called it complete at different times

January 26Jan 26 After watching the Seattle game, the morning after they win the SB, give Klint Kubiak a call, offer him our HC position. Smart, ballsy calls, creative routes.

Don’t like when he runs out of bounds losing yardage instead of throwing it away. Maybe both tie into each other.15 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:Hurts isn’t a prototypical QB. Our Oline is huge. So there is a limitation there with vision..,probably specifically..over the middle. Hurts sure doesn’t have the cannon of an arm like Mike Vick.He gave up throwing into tight coverage and jump balls to AJ. Might help his turnovers and look good for completion percentage but also increase 3 and outs and less points. You're right Hurts is limited and his vision does suck. He can't throw over the middle, can't read zone, doesn't throw with timing, weak arm, not a smart QB, can't read a defense presnap, runs out of bounds taking a sack rather then throwing it away and now doesn't want to use his legs.
January 26Jan 26 Really have to wonder what is scaring off OC candidates. Is it Siri? Hurts? FO?Siri- find this one odd just because I don’t think the FO would keep him if he was the issue getting coaches in here.Hurts- lots of rumors regarding Hurts from his struggles with reading D, him not wanting to run complex O forcing OC to simplify things, and now that he doesn’t want to use his legs. And this doesn’t even bring up his limitations as a passer to begin with.FO- for better or worse this is likely seen as a boom or bust job either it works we are successful and the OC gets HC offers or they are fired after the season.
January 26Jan 26 Roster- OL and AJ can’t image is a major concern for coaches if nothing else Howie seems To be known to do overall good job at stocking the roster not always perfect but far better then most teams

Howie has lots of decisions to make. I'm sure he will ask Fangio for some assistance, but what role will the new OC have. giving him "full autonomy" should mean(in my view) that he will have a say in who stays and who goes. Will the new OC even want to mess with AJ? AJ is becoming more like a prima donna. Not sure AJ will stay. After some lackluster drops when it mattered can he get his old form back, or is this the start of the downside of his career. Seems AJ doesn't really care if he is here or not. A BAD attitude has set in. He can choose to fix it......or not, in which case he needs to go. We are stuck with Hurts for at least the '26 season. I'm not happy about that, as I assume he will continue to play it safe and not use his legs much or risk getting hit. Lurie has to be LIVID after paying out the big loot to a QUITTER. There will be alot of closed door meetings with Howie and Siri as to which path to take. It's not going to be easy either way. I would prefer players that are hungry over prima donnas. Guys like Phillips who love playing here. BG could probably go another year. I hope we can scarf Becton back from LV. he made it known he wants to be an Eagle again. Those are the guys I want. I hope the FO wants them too. The OC job is one nobody seems to want especially dealing with Hurts side deal BS
January 26Jan 26 Author I would be a horrible HC because despite the huge paycheck I'm starting McKee and making Hurts ride pine. Let him sit and stew and decide if he wants to play QB or not. The longer he sits, the less he would be worth to any other team. If I have "full autonomy" and that stands, then that's what I would do. I cannot afford for my team to suffer because my QB is useless and mediocre and no longer has the will to win and put himself out there. That's why I would be a horrible HC, but I believe that's what it's going to take. Either Hurts WAKES UP or he is QB2 in my book. It's my belief(as you know) that Hurts is the issue with this team(AJ too), so I need a QB and a WR1 that are hungry and on the same page. I know this won't happen, but that's what I would do. Bash me all you want, but my opinion won't change. Hurts got what he wanted and now he's DONE and I am ready to move on if it was up to me(but it's not)
January 26Jan 26 Author BTW I would love to get Allar(homer) in at QB in the draft. Let Hurts know he is walking a very THIN line. Finding a kid to replace AJ will not be easy. My hope is AJ can mend his ways. in the '27 draft is the kid from OSU who fits the bill perfectly. Meantime I would still draft one to maybe replace Dotson. But the slot requires the QB's attention and Hurts doesn't look there. Maybe Darius fills in there and I know Hurts liked Wilson until he went down. We need O line(Becton would help) and young guys who can take the reins there soon(RG,RT BU's) CB seems like a must have on Fangios list, so I see one going early next draft. TE is a big need also. I see a few in the draft(very few) who fit what we do, but I see no outstanding ones(maybe in time but we need to get them here) Goedert needs to stay a few more years. Get that done Howie. If the new OC likes receiving TE's there are those the draft, but historically we like blockers and those are no longer common coming out of college. Going to be an interesting game of chess for us

AJ needs a reason to play and Hurts isn't it for him. Maybe McKee reignites the fire in AJ? I love the Bark/Tank combo, but like you said if we can't get them to level 2 they will continue to suffer. Despite sloppily winning the NFCE this last year, then dropping to the beat up 9ers just seems like wasted talent. I want all those skill guys to shine. Maybe Hurts needs to sit as I said. Not going to happen, but I don't see us improving with him at the helm. Take your lumps, call it a year of retooling and get it done and don't look back.
