They play because they choose to because they tell the coach they don't hurt enough to warrant being pulled. Stop glorifying a MEDIOCRITY. It's pathetic how low you stoop to cover for him. if a coach forces a player to play the NFLPA would be busting their door down

I think he will be frustrated with Hurts and sounds to me, unlike Patullo, he's going to let the FO know about itThat would be another outside perspective. I thought 2024 was enough for the organization to realize the shortcomings via the passing game, another outside perspective should cement it. If you keep the QB... we need 3 thingsFirst an elite run gameSecond ...the QB needs to runThird, an elite defense.

Even elite defenses can't play 45 minutes a game. Adding 2 pieces in CB2 and a decent edge and I think we can be a top 5 again. Elite run game hinges on the O line. Even Bark got hit behind the LOS. You won't dominate anyone like that. Hurts screwed the pooch when it was disclosed he was a quitter. it's on him to bring it back(or not) if not I don't see him starting next year(2027), sorry I just DON'T. Howie cannot afford to waste this talent we have. Bark has a few years left, Smitty is very effective. I hope Hurts uses the slot,so much damage can be done from there if he only looks for them. JJ made a career from the slot. I'm excited to see what Mannion brings after the vanilla Patullo year(with more than damaged O line) Cooper tries very hard. Tank is also a weapon that needs more use. Hurts trusted Wilson in the slot also, he is almost like a TE2. Boatloads of lost production because Hurts can't read the field

Mainly due to the decision at QB. Contract situation, I'm sure they want to do something one way or the other after 2026. You have to sacrifice a lot later due to paying the QB. If he is an along for the ride guy vs being the driver...than you can't keep him. They are going all in with this new OC. First thing is to make sure the QB can play in this system. What they do with AJ will be very telling.
February 23Feb 23 Author 8 hours ago, joemas6 said:They are going all in with this new OC.Agreed. We don't have alot of cap space right now. I assume some players we like will be heading out, but some we need coming back(like Becton who loved it here, but under Stoutland). Speaking of him, we have broken up his spot into 2 different guys. He is difficult to replace, so these 2 newbies need to be tight because as we all know "It's the O line stupid".It would be nice for those new guys if we had Lane and Becton. Neither need much coaching except whatever new things/plays are added. I'm still searching for that next all pro RT. Very difficult. The combine is about all the close up we as fans get to see,but it does help! We await word on any guys retiring. I still have OT,G,CB,Edge as the top priorities. I would still love to get Mayer off LV and add a late round TE, but even Sadiq IMO is nowhere close to the previous 2 years top TE's, so Goedert sticking around would also be nice. We also know this is Fangios last year and Howie is already gathering data on his replacement. I was happy he stayed on to allow the O to experience it's growing pains which we know are coming. I agree with you about the QB spot. It's on him if he wants to remain as our 1. Pats and Buffalo will both be looking at AJ and Tyreek Hill. One of them should go to either team to rule their division. I'm actually hoping Hill goes first. He is a locker room cancer, but if he goes to either the Pats or Bills that will turn up the heat for the AJ trade to the other and raises his price for Howie. Of course this is all conjecture, but it's all we have. Howie could opt to clear the slate and draft the next star(Denzel Boston???) if AJ can get us a 1 pick OR they can talk to AJ(and Houdini Hurts) about the new system. I'm just not sure, once again, Hurts is up to learning it. If he chooses to LEAD again(which he failed to do this last year) and AJ buys in, he will stay. AJ would however succeed with either of the 2 mentioned teams. IDK if the Saints could afford him, but I'm sure Moore would also love to have him. A solid piece as they rebuild. You would know more then I being a local, but so far it looks to me like Mannion is the type who will not hold back as far as good or bad reports on Hurts. I refuse to believe he would accept Hurts wussie side deal and report such right to Howies face. In other words he will put his system in place and its sink or swim for Hurts. We know from GB he's not afraid to put the ball in the air. Hurts similar to Love. It's either going to be seamless or Mannion will go right to Howie and report that he can't work with Hurts. It's on Siri to keep the peace and get all the new people working together. I'm excited to see new things/concepts/plays. Hurts is on the hot seat IMO. We still have an excellent surrounding cast. I suspect we could begin the season with a few losses. I'm anxious to see if Mannion is a guy who can adjust on the fly. That ability is so important now. In any case with the talent we have I see no reason we can't compete. NFCE will be tougher this year, but I love good competition and we will be up to it. Some the new cogs in the machine, Siri will fine tune that, but alot of new ideas hopefully. As you said AJ and what happens with the O line is important to watch. I think Lane decided he was happy about what he is hearing and wants to go out on a high note as does Goedert, Just observations from me. Keep the faith my birdheads because as I say down here "Hey at least we aren't the Panthers" HAHAHA. Ready to rock and roll!!!!

It seems you guys outside of the local area are panicking and making things out to be much worse than reality. I don't think anyone thought Lane was going to retire.. Dickerson would be turning down a lot of money. AJ being traded is not any guarantee, Howie doesn't like to eat dead money that's more than the money it would cost yo keep a star player. Remember Wentz, huge dead money, still saved slightly on the cap. The QB is definitely under the microscope this year. Should be an interesting off season. Idk about all this investment in the OL via draft. You might be surprised of a different direction

Last season it was being talked about he was returning during the regular season. Clearly he had setback(s). Because he couldn’t suit up even weeks later for the playoff game.
