That would be another outside perspective. I thought 2024 was enough for the organization to realize the shortcomings via the passing game, another outside perspective should cement it. If you keep the QB... we need 3 things

First an elite run game

Second ...the QB needs to run

Third, an elite defense.

I think the D is fine personally. I think they got worn out alot by lack of offense. Even elite defenses can't play 45 minutes a game. Adding 2 pieces in CB2 and a decent edge and I think we can be a top 5 again. Elite run game hinges on the O line. Even Bark got hit behind the LOS. You won't dominate anyone like that. Hurts screwed the pooch when it was disclosed he was a quitter. it's on him to bring it back(or not) if not I don't see him starting next year(2027), sorry I just DON'T. Howie cannot afford to waste this talent we have. Bark has a few years left, Smitty is very effective. I hope Hurts uses the slot,so much damage can be done from there if he only looks for them. JJ made a career from the slot. I'm excited to see what Mannion brings after the vanilla Patullo year(with more than damaged O line) Cooper tries very hard. Tank is also a weapon that needs more use. Hurts trusted Wilson in the slot also, he is almost like a TE2. Boatloads of lost production because Hurts can't read the field

I believe this to be the pivotal season for the direction of the team. Mainly due to the decision at QB. Contract situation, I'm sure they want to do something one way or the other after 2026. You have to sacrifice a lot later due to paying the QB. If he is an along for the ride guy vs being the driver...than you can't keep him.

They are going all in with this new OC. First thing is to make sure the QB can play in this system. What they do with AJ will be very telling.

Agreed. We don't have alot of cap space right now. I assume some players we like will be heading out, but some we need coming back(like Becton who loved it here, but under Stoutland). Speaking of him, we have broken up his spot into 2 different guys. He is difficult to replace, so these 2 newbies need to be tight because as we all know "It's the O line stupid".It would be nice for those new guys if we had Lane and Becton. I don't think anyone thought Lane was going to retire.. Dickerson would be turning down a lot of money.

AJ being traded is not any guarantee, Howie doesn't like to eat dead money that's more than the money it would cost yo keep a star player. Remember Wentz, huge dead money, still saved slightly on the cap.

The QB is definitely under the microscope this year. Should be an interesting off season. Idk about all this investment in the OL via draft. You might be surprised of a different direction

The thinking about Lane retiring surrounded his ability to continue to play. Last season it was being talked about he was returning during the regular season. Clearly he had setback(s). Because he couldn’t suit up even weeks later for the playoff game.
