I mean do coaches say go out 6 yards and fall down if you catch the ball? Aren't all players taught(whether they have the ability or not) to get as far as possible with the ball in your possession? A YAC guy is just a guy who has jukes, speed or other attributes to gain more yards than a mediocre guy. I could see falling down after a catch on a 3rd down conversion not wanting to lose the ball. There is no designated YAC guy I have ever been aware of at any position that touches the ball with their hands Jason Avant and Zach Ertz. Still quality players and guys. But probably combined 11 YAC in their Eagles careers.

Two DBs in a row to start the draft is near Earth shattering Forget start... just...here is your group of players plus you add assets to next year's draft. Numbers don't exist...let's say a computer assigned you players randomly.
April 28, 20241 yr I’m liking our team that’s put together. Our losses of Kelce, Cox and Reddick are very significant to overcome. Just can’t replace those guys. But I’m probably as optimistic as anybody on Milton, Tuipolotu and Ojomo. Think Jurgens showed he is a serviceable option. Bryce and Nolan are fairly major question marks our pass rush depends upon. Not just their quality…but durability. Think we should bring back Zach Cunningham being a serviceable LB. Not writing Dean off yet. But can’t pretend he’s proven anything yet either. A bunch up in the air about our Secondary. But just without question have options. Have legit competition to come up with something decent in the WR room past the top two. Brought in a serviceable vet TE2 if Goedert isn’t available.

April 28, 20241 yr But the start is obviously carrying the draft class for us. The difference of shattering the hardened philosophy positionally…really should make a huge difference. The reach for the pass rusher in the third can’t bring it down enough. But even with him…you have to see some huge upside. Hunt is a huge swing for the fences pick.
April 28, 20241 yr Worthless April Power Ranking wise? I’m not quite sure about every teams draft haul and situation to be honest. Mostly just try and focus on the NFC. That’s the main roadblocks. I think we might have stepped ahead of the Cowboys. Lions and Niners are on top…again. Think in my euphoria of those first two draft picks am ready to consider us third best NFC team.

Obviously guys who can compete...but more importantly by getting these guys....next year we can go after the big guys again...with the secondary need of getting a quality TE. I'm looking from a perspective of all the one year guys off the roster next year ...so that 2nd RB and 3rd or maybe 4th WR is nice to start with. TE needs to be a better target next year.
April 28, 20241 yr But….you knew I wasn’t going to have a BUT…we have all new schemes to learn. So probably rolling into week one in São Paulo as underdogs.

Plus the chip on their shoulder. Should be different this year.

April 28, 20241 yr Find it very interesting how Rosie made a very specific point of stating how Quinyon would need to focus on just outside CB job to not be overwhelmed and thrive. Then spoke only of versatility with DeJean. So how do they view DeJean? Where will they start with him?

Actually thought they hit as hard a bump in the road as they’ve faced last season. Had that losing spot in the middle of the season that tested them. They overcame it very strong. But think I’m putting them number two behind the Lions this season.

You put Mitchell out there using his physical tools to lock up on the outside. DeJean you move all around.

Yes....losing spot because 2 guys were out. That's fortunate to only have 2 guys out 3 weeks. This year already starting with LB recovering from serious knee injury... year older for their LT. The injury prone RB went through a lot of work last year. Very fortunate to stay healthy. QB now has full season of teams gathering film etc. We'll see....I just don’t think things go your way like that as a norm. We have to admit, that was our 2022 season.

Common sense could lead you to listen to the very first thought Rosie had of: rookie just focus on one position first. I’d put DeJean at S probably. Get him on the field and very involved right away. Several S roles even. So starter or not…he’d get involved.

So he has to learn as part of the position....cover slot, some centerfield....two deep ... blitz...etc. He should be fine. I'm looking at them just wanting Mitchell to be an outside shutdown guy. That enables them to do more with every one else

April 28, 20241 yr I just keep getting caught up with what seems like the one universal weakness of DeJean in scouting reports being not possessing fluid hips. That’s a very huge feature I always look at out of DBs. Outside you can maybe get away not exposing it as much. You have the boundary and can play off or up in a receivers face. But in space…especially in the slot fluid hips is crucial. SS playing in the box fluid hips is crucial. But both these concerns are in pass coverage. SS and slot CB against the run he should be capable. My least concerns for DeJean would be as a single high S or with two high S looks. That’s where I’d start him off. Basically in FS roles. Quarters or covering half the field over the top split Cover 2. Back there with his eyes on everything in front of him to react to. Start there and work in disguises as the season and his comfort level rises.

Doesn’t have the experience of Bump and Run duties. So even just learning outside there is so much to absorb. Man concepts are pretty straight forward in Off Coverage. But Fangio has to teach the Zones.
April 28, 20241 yr But yeah I’ve been tossing around how I view DeJean and how I’d try to work him in Fangio’s D for awhile now.

But Fangio has to teach the Zones. Again ... I don't hate anything. My point is simple. Mitchell engages outside on the WR...whatever scheme you want...that's where I would play him... to replace Bradberry. DeJean... I have him all over the place... covering RB, TE, an occasional slot guy, blitzing, centerfield, in the box etc. The reason why I do this...is when I have Rodgers, Maddox, CGJ , Blankenship and DeJean on the field....any combo of that, I want the QB confused. They all do a little of everything if needed. But I would not use DeJean as an outside CB... Ringo jumps in there next. Absolutely use Dejean more like the other DBs. You want to call it safety...I'm ok with that. But for me, I like my S to do everything.
April 28, 20241 yr Not sure the timeline of your thinking here though I guess would be the key. Gotta start at square one here with everybody. But you just throwing the book at DeJean in TC and saying be everything? Or is this a year two, three…. career goal for him?
