I see his main playmaking experience occurring as an outside CB. That’s what has my brain spinning some on how to approach his career.

The next question is about P returner. I see DeJean as absolutely elite P returner. So what do we do there? Covey really came on last season. But Covey hasn’t shown any WR ability of worth. It’s a great problem to have. Do we just trade Covey?

DeJean I’d see as elite gunner on ST also.

I’m not even trying to dive all into the new KO returns….other than I’d have to believe he’d be a very strong candidate there as well.

So ...if you just went into a draft ...and said..  we are coming out with these players...and whatever we added to next year's draft.    ( without looking at who got drafted where)

How do you like it?

I liked it alot. I admit I don't know alot about Jalyx. They liked him and that is what matters. I got the slot WR I have been pushing since day 1. I'm glad they saw in him what I did. He should be that Amendola/Edelman type. The guy that can help bail Hurts out when protection breaks down. He is not or will ever be a #1 WR,but that's not his purpose and I think he will serve us well for the role he should assume. I felt we would press a little harder/be more aggressive for O line competition, but the fact we did a double dip in the secondary was excellent. I was hoping Howie would break tradition and he did-TWICE. So you can't get everything you want where you want them, but I was happy with this draft. I would be more than pleased if Jalyx works out.

Not sure the timeline of your thinking here though I guess would be the key. Gotta start at square one here with everybody. But you just throwing the book at DeJean in TC and saying be everything? Or is this a year two, three…. career goal for him?

I don't get your idea here?  Do you want the kid to play or not?    If he plays S...then play S.   Which involves doing everything a S does.   Do you want him to just stand 20 yards back and play deep?

I don't get it?   You make it sound like you are teaching 7 year Olds rocket science and only get them 3 days a week for 20 minutes?

This is an adult who has played DB for years.   With almost 5 months until game 1.   Hours and hours of class time, camp and preseason???

Idk your question?  Are you asking about his first day?    I don't care how they do anything...but come game 1...he better know how to play...not just sit 20 yards back off the line.

Hurts now needs to read the middle of the field. It's time for him to take the next step(s). Reads and decisions need to be faster. There are no more excuses left. he has a top RB as well and weapons at every position on the field

Here is the beauty.  You don't have to dive into any of this.  You can work on your running or whatever...the beauty is the Eagles do all this stuff and we get to watch.

Figuring out DeJean's career path... shouldn't be a concern.  Should be more of something we look forward to seeing where it will go.

Plus 3 extra picks next year...going from 6 to 9.

Extra 3rd, 4th and 5th.

More ammo for trading for a vet.  To move up next year... or  just extra players to draft.

First :I think you could make the case for him possibly being an elite outside shutdown playmaking CB. So are we squandering that talent?
He really hasn’t played S though. So he really doesn’t have tons of experience to lean into. But you’re oversimplifying S jobs. There are like 50 different S jobs. Just all those is a ton to digest.
But your answer seems to be throw everything at him to start with your answer of "come game one.”

I think he's great. Just from a game planning standpoint. If we play vs super fast WR's we can use him differently than a game where we face big possession receivers. I don't think he really gets defined at one spot. he has(and wants to have) the ability to move where he is needed. I would hate to tie a kids hands like that. He loves the game and just wants to play again

Yep Howie always leaves chips on the table to play with, never going all in so to speak.

My answer is to have him ready to play game 1.   Throw it at him in whatever order you like.

And it's not my concern how they do it. How the progression goes.

More like putting the other guy all in...and still being able to cover it if the cards work against us.

For me the next step does revolve around coaching and playcalling. Not to deflect responsibilities from Hurts. But the playcalling and routes have to reflect this. Just obviously, right? I’d like to see his main step of evolution be in throwing short quick accurate timing passing game.

The other focus for me would be eliminating turnovers much more. A new O will almost always bring miscommunications not just from the QB…but blocking and receivers. So some of those are just going to happen. I’m not even reaching for perfection here. But he needs to hold on to the ball with better ball security being the main improvement.

Nice to have those small chips when you are bargaining for a draft pick or a vet. If a player gets  the same offer,Howie can say OK I'll toss in a 6th to put his finger on the scale

Sure we could all just never even think about anything and let it all just take place. Never question any GM decisions, coaches decisions or players decisions. But that’s pretty much exactly what we don’t do.

IDK I can run 8 plays only.if I can execute those 8 plays and you can't stop me,the play call doesn't really matter. Of course this is a simpleton explanation, but it all comes down to execution. I don't think the play calling could get worse though. What bothered me most was continually running plays we could NOT execute

I'm not saying not to question anything you see after the fact.

I'm saying you have a rookie with promise... why worry exactly how he is used from his first day at practice etc.  Let it happen... in a way that works for him and the team.

I think even the minor fan of our team can see DeJean is special at returns. Covey had a huge step up in P returning last season. But that’s really all Covey does. So it doesn’t take to much jumping to conclusions to consider whether you’d trade Covey. Doesn’t need to happen tomorrow or anything…but frankly it could be an option as part of some trade deal. Some team could view Covey as potential in the KO return arena as well.

1 yard sideline routes to Goedert was not only bad play calling but failure to execute it,but we kept running it

Failure to understand the sideline is an added defender sent shivers up my spine(and not good ones)

What bothered me was during a few games stretch last season...Hurts had more turnovers than our punter had punts...while we were scoring a lot of points....and fans were complaining about the play calling.

What concerns me going forward... if the RPO is going to be stopped and contained better by modern day defenses... can our QB still be effective?

That’s a very tall ask. He’s just learning a whole new O. Miles away from being ready to room through to the third read on every new play understanding what Moore is looking for out of him. That’s not just with the O play called..you understand…it’s that play how it translates versus the D playcall.

I thought it was just an understood fact that with time in a scheme comes more comfort and knowledge of that scheme.
