AR best attribute... he finds DCs that won't be considered head coaching candidates and stays away.

Believe his decision over McDermott hiring. Rosie forced him to fire McDermott. But was no stretch to foresee him on an eventual HC career path.

AR such a strong coach dealing with any personalities of player. He’s dealt with difficult Primma Donnas. Thugs. Heck kept arguably the greatest TE ever on the bench after he threw his helmet throwing a tantrum. He’s a leader of men. Top quality!

See this is pretty much the exact type question you want to force. Then try and pin whatever on me about it. This isn’t the decision. The decision has to account for the whole team situation. Account for positional availability options.
But clearly I weigh intangible charatericstics much higher than you do. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is a heck of a player for example. But he lacks the intangibles. He isn’t the leader. Isn’t the tone setting example for all the other players coming in. Isn’t the guy you want being the loud voice in the locker room driving things.

Lol... clearly you like to write paragraphs and not commit to anything....then spin it to where you put words in other people's mouths.   Just answer a direct question for once.

Btw...who is going to pat Swift $30 million over 4 years?

Definitely knows how to pick a DC and stay away.

Dallas ....great cap management examples

Tag to Lawrence...$17.143 mil

Tag to Dak... $33 mil

Tag to Pollard ... $10 mil

Instead of taking the discount and getting the player signed early while using leverage and keeping the cap hit low...

They spent over $40 mil (THAT ALL COUNTED vs A ROLLING CAP) that they can't recover...  before paying both guys the top of the market price ...2 YEARS LATER increased value!

Spent another $10 mil they can't get back...and still have a hole at RB.

Contracts of Dak, Lamb and Parsons looming.  Good luck with that.   Oh...and the CB who kept intercepting the bad QBs and returning them for TDs... he is going to have to get paid too.

But Swift is a perfect target at 4 years $30 mil for Dallas?

I mean.. you tagged Dak because you wanted him to prove himself..  he got hurt and missed 3/4 of the season...and then you payed him anyway?   Absolutely crushing your cap.

Just brutal business decision.

And my math was off... it was $10 mil WORSE for Dallas.  Just awful cap management

Each of these guys had a choice and role in being tagged. They used their leverage against Jerry. Those guys just didn’t want to sign any bargain deals. They all realized their value was very likely only increasing.

Cowboys just wait more for players to prove themselves first than us. Waiting on Dak and tagging him was wiser than paying Wentz early.

How can they be neck and neck with us every season being one game difference between the teams…with having one of the strongest winning percentages in the whole league and be considered so terrible at cap management?

Cowboys had a hole at RB after needing to move on from Zeke. Had to make some better move than sticking it out with Zeke.

But was clear Pollard was at a peak leverage and potential earnings position if his career. Proved very much he isn’t worth that elite RB money.

You are forgetting the player side of things again. Two sides in all negotiations.

Why would Dak want to sign instead of be tagged?

Dak and Pollard weren’t offering a deal to sign to begin with is the understanding I had about them.

I totally committed to my philosophy and thoughts. Expressed them. You just don’t like..or aren’t able to grasp a different way of doing the business.

What leverage did they have over Dak and Pollard? Both expected to be tagged and still be hot FA the next season. If they did sign they were looking for elite top of the market contracts.

I’m committed to viewing things as all factors matter in all situations. You don’t just decide this DT or RB, That’s basically been my whole point here.

You just believe it’s all about immediate cap hits. There is a key flaw in your logic right there.

You just think if you sign a player to a one year contract it’s great management to take the lowest cap hit right away and postpone the real charges. Can’t agree. Too short term thinking.

Doubt we will pay Swift to stay and if we would consider paying him I’d honestly rather target a guy like Saquon who might come even cheaper then Swift

LOL no way does Saquan go cheap

Are you saying the Eagles players are stupid for signing early?

Do i... ok.... do you think that Dallas has been unable to sign free agents fir over a decade....because it's about one year?

Really?

Look at Dak's cap hits... look at Lawrence's cap hits... look at the RB cap hits over the last 5 years.

Just brutal. .. that's hilarious " just one year "  lol
