Across the NFL....

Dak = 10th highest paid...   2nd highest cap hit

Zach Martin = 52nd highest paid... 26th highest cap hit

Lawrence = 175th highest paid....  80th highest cap hit.

This is where the Dallas method of waiting and using tags kills their cap.  Their guys don't get anywhere near as much cash as what their cap hits reflect compared to the rest of the league.

It's not one year.  More problems coming up... and they need to dig further in the hole with these guys to open up space...only to give it back.  It's the same cycle they have been in for years.

Eagles compared to the league...

AJ ...27 in cash.... 183 in cap hit

Lane = 32 in cash.... 122 in cap hit

Reddick = 85 in cash..... 74 in cap hit

You see Reddick as the easy restructure.. last year of the deal showing where the cash vs cap hit is usually at its worst.... look how close it is.   The extension doesn't dig the Eagles any deeper.  They will get him way cheaper this year and the cap hits will stay below the cash the rest of the way by doing so.  It's actually a great business decision to extend him another couple of seasons.

Dallas by tagging and waiting... got behind and can't catch up.  They remain on the hamster wheel... until they get like SF was 10 years ago.. .suck for 3 years and then clear cap because nobody is worth paying.   If they avoid going backwards... the cycle will continue.

Do i... ok.... do you think that Dallas has been unable to sign free agents fir over a decade....because it's about one year?

Really?

Look at Dak's cap hits... look at Lawrence's cap hits... look at the RB cap hits over the last 5 years.

Just brutal. .. that's hilarious " just one year "  lol

We haven’t been able to sign FAs in 2020, 2021 and 2023. Three out of the last four years. The one year we actually had that capability should have won it all.

You are mistaking paying the piper sooner than later as the salary cap is massaged. Both teams have been so perfectly equal for years. Back and forth with one game deciding which is the winner of the division earning that home game.

I can hate the cowboys such an unlimited amount. Can laugh at their pathetic postseason accomplishments. But personnel roster wise hasn’t limited the cowboys much at all from the top of the league over these last several years.

Hunh????    Did we draft Reddick?

They pay more on the current cap versus how we have to carry the burden of dead cap and a h season from players haven’t even been with the team for years. Feels like an eternity ago since Brandon Brooks contributed at a top level. We pay on the cap the next three years for their play today. Which at a point I’m totally fine with. To extend a championship contending window then fine with sabotaging the future cap more. Like how the Niners are doing basically. They’ve been contending for so many years straight. To throw down big on burdening their future to make that push last year, this season and next year is the move.

Excuse me...  we technically " traded for AJ Brown" that's another move we could make due to having cap space. Byard was another one...even though brutal decision.

Again... stop bring lazy and coming up with theories.

Research actual numbers.   Numbers do not lie.

You hate Howie...try to come up with any narrative to make him look bad. .. even try to go out of your way to try to make the cap management seem bad here, but good in Dallas.

Do you really think I'm going to put out any information without researching #s?   The left field theory without research is your thing.

You don't understand the ability to use dead money in your favor.  You don't get the rolling cap. You don't understand the cap going up and where any cap hit later is less than today due to the % of the cap.

You don't get business.   What you get is when they make a mistake choosing a player.

But go research...  show me cap hits from Dallas for Dak, Lawrence,  their RBs and Martin... combined over the years...and show me where its " just one year" or " kick the can down the road "

Stop being ignorant and go do some research. It only takes 5 minutes.

If we cut Maddox...and save 7 million... get a better player in there for 5 million.   That is a good move.

bUt tHe dEaD mOnEy???   Who cares.. it's the net effect on the cap.

You keep him...it's 9 million

You cut him...it's 2 million

That leaves 7 million to do other moves.  If you can get a better slot CB in there for less than 7 million...it makes sense.  Might even make sense to spend more if it's an upgrade.

But you can't be afraid of " dead money"  you don't keep players on your roster if you can replace them with cheaper options that are also better players.

2020....signed Hargrave and traded for Slay...  because they had cap space.

Will remind you that Rosie did place a bid on McCaffrey.

This is in part why I’d also say we could look into Barkley even if really really slim… He is very similar to CMC has the same ability as a runner and is a very good receiving RB as well.

I just really want a 3 down guy. Tired of having to take our best RB off the field since they can’t block or catch

Yea I just don’t see how we can pay Maddox 9m he isn’t worth it can’t stay healthy.

lol 😂 rumors Chip Kelly could be the next OC for the Washington Commanders

Joe Kasper new S coach he was also on our staff when we won the SB was Gannons S coach.

Byard is more making my point on things. Having to trade and pay a player on the decline. Only making that move  because of struggling cap situation

This discussion is all about theory and philosophy. But I pointed out how other teams did things differently than us and been just as talented rosters

I don’t hate Rosie at all. Just not blinded by his methods like you are. I can see all sides of the issues unlike you. Trust me …nothing I don’t understand in anything you are bringing up. Incredibly easy for me to grasp and process.

Your point is always about paying later is so much wiser. That the cap rises so the hits are favorable to backload and delay.

But it’s a rolling cap. That’s first off. The next major point that destroys your theory of how this pushing things back…is you are acting like player salaries aren’t rising along with the cap. Costs that much more to sign guys in that future.

All that’s happening is our cap is actually being limited.

That we just keep putting baggage of the future. Paying guys and strapped over paying for play in 2020. A four win season.

A team that was very steadily declining each year. Because of the cap issues.

So instead of clearing up and freeing money to roll forward from a team nowhere near being able to contend….we spent several years cap dollars to achieve those four wins.

2021 could have been the beginning of a huge rebuild and geling together new talents. But instead just started over with a team that was carrying all the dead weight.
