Wow!! I mean you couldn’t blame them I guess but then who else they going to have at QB if they eventually move Dak on? They don’t ever tend to suck in the regular season (I mean Dallas freaking sucks) so they rarely get a high pick.

They aren't moving on from Dak.... just waiting til next year to pay him.  Lawrence was on last year of the deal, so they probably saved cap hit to sign him.  Lamb should technically do the same for them this year.   They may sneak in Dak before the season ends,  but probably not.

Lawrence signed with Jax.... their QB... wasn't Lawrence from Dallas. Lol

So clearly what you are missing is that the QB can look and adjust the play.  Clearly you haven't watched other teams adjust plays ....we used to do a lot of that too,prior to the current QB.  It's a big part of the game... after the teams break the huddle and line up, they actually make adjustments.  The play call isn't the final decision made pre or post snap.

I expect my players not to give a 10 yard cushion and then keep back pedaling on 3rd and 5 and give up the easy pitch and catch for the 1st down.

The opposing QB easily called an audible to that short out route on that particular play,  easy throw for 6 yards to the wide open short out route that no defender was on the screen and then took it up field before running out of bounds for a 12 yard gain.

I understand play calling just fine.  What you seem to miss is that not every coverage scheme or play call works vs everything the opponent does. The game is won and lost with how the teams adjust as they break the huddle.   In the case of your " cover 3"  the opponent simply adjuster to the short out route for what you could consider the easiest 12 yard gain you can get in the NFL.

That's why we have a new DC.

I think it's reasonable to expect my QB to have the similar mental ability to quickly adjust a route or see where there is going to be another wide open option other than his primary. 

In the play where Goedert was holding his hand up... AJ ran the route ...wide open underneath... bad coverage scheme that worked for New England because Hurts handed the ball off. That was Hurts decision.

I think the Eagles have a successful season...I'm looking forward to 2024.
