Sixers did their best to blow another one tonight ... but stood firm on defense and only gave up 43 fourth-quarter points

Their defense is god awful and they continuously blow leads. Add on this is against teams without some of their best players. Same as it was 4.5 months ago.

the first of Brett Brown's 3 pillars. "Defense. Pace. Space"

and they got a new defensive coach this year. Still sucks. Amazing.

Even more amazing brand built the roster this offseason to win with its length and defense in the playoffs. Yet they look even worse than the last two years.

yep... and his rationale "Defense travels"

that was the comfort in going with length and Horford's added defense after losing JJs shooting (which shooting doesnt always travel). So we traded shooting for defense.

And again... this defense sucks. And the 6ers couldnt win a road game this season. It sure didnt travel.

All I know is I hated that Al Horford contract when they gave it to him and I hate it even more now. Nobody in their right mind is going to take that contract until it’s an expiring contract. Which isn’t going to be for two more years. So you just have a ton of money on a guy who’s over the hill and isn’t very good and is not a four. There was many better options with that money and who to give it to

I am appalled! No mention of Coltrane? That’s just crazy. Wayne Shorter. Herbie Hancock. The Duke and the Count. Art Tatum. Sonny Rollins?

No Coltrane? SMH.

There’s a great Japanese woman pianist right now - Hiromi. Her god is Oscar Peterson, also passed over here. There’s a lot of Hiromi’s stuff on Youtube. Check out her duets with Chick Correa or her solo performance of that old standard, I Got Rhythm. The woman is a monster.

All great.  Coltrane is a bit on the edge.  Let him experience Miles first. Coltrane is usually an acquired taste for most.  My mom thought she was a beat when she was younger.  I have her 78s, including her Duke Ellington.  If we want to go vocalists, Ella.  If he wants a good taste, if they have Black Giants available still, I would suggest that as a starter album for him.

I will check out Hiromi.

Surprised you didn’t throw in Dave Brubeck Quintet.

Speaking of mom’s beat roots.  I remember other kids catching grief for some of their reading material in school and I am carting around Kerouac, Kesey, Wolfe courtesy of mom.

Sorry, JR.  You're right.  Should have mentioned Coltrane at least.  I was out in the Sun today and drinking so my mind isn't as sharp as usual.  Yes, Coltrane is another one I enjoy listening to along with Rollins for the 'old school' Jazz.  The Count to me is more big band, which my grandfather used to have vinyl records of loads of big band artists that he'd listen to when down in his 'shop' in the basement.  He was a big Glenn Miller fan.  So that was my first intro to the Jazz world.

My dad loved Glenn Miller and I do too.  Tommy Dorsey too.

My first "concert”, my dad took me to see Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass

Tijuana Brass rings a bell.   And wow, Herb Albert was one of the founders of A&M Records.  I'm sure I've heard their music before.  WRTI would play Latin/Cuban Jazz on Saturday nights.  I used to date this older woman and she'd come over my place Saturday nights and we'd share a bottle of wine while listening to WRTI and then.....

Duke energy is saying almost 200k without power in Carolinas

The Sixers and NBA in general is tough to watch. I may rather watch golf.

I've had 2 Ninjas (aka crotch rockets) and when in traffic I'd ride like I was invisible because to most drivers I most likely was.  I was careful.  However, on certain stretches of roads that I was very familiar with that were basically long straight lines with no side streets or driveways where I had total visibility and when I was the only one on the road I would throttle that bish up, tuck my knees into the sides and lay my chest across the gas tank and do about 120.  And I liked just going out for drives on back roads with curves and little traffic so I could lean into curves and see how close I could get my knee to the road.  But I always made sure I was aware of my surroundings.  I know someone who thought he was cool and decided to drive down the shoulder when everyone else was stopped at a light and one of the cars decided to pull out to make a right and he ended up paralyzed from the neck down.  And I've seen idiots on highways at high speed doing wheelies in traffic and one time on the Schuylkill some moron blasting through traffic (in between the lanes of cars/trucks) at high speed with a passenger on the back.  The more times you roll the dice the better the chance you'll eventually end up with snake eyes.

I had an R6 when I was younger.  Red and white, red helmet so I was easy to see.  I rode responsibly.  One day I was riding with my buddy and he took a right at a red light.  There was traffic so I had to wait, didn't go with him.  Still sitting at the light a lady rammed me from behind and threw me in to the intersection.  I was so lucky that there was no more cross traffic.  Bike was totaled and I only dinged my elbow.  Lady got out of her car an told me she saw my buddy take the turn and figured I did too.  She also admitted she just had surgery and was on painkillers.  Things worked out for me in the end but that was my last day on a bike.  If I can get hit standing still by a woman on medication and walk away I'm good.  Hang it up.  Next toy will be a boat of some sort, just trying to figure out what I want to do.

Yep, the Horford signing was just awful.  I wanted them to do everything they could to keep Jimmy but in the end he just didn't want to be here.  I think Tobias is stepping his game up but not sure he is a max contract player.  This team is stuck again.  With that being said I still can't watch, they really lost me as a fan.

Now the total number is over 300k.  I think most of the outages were in the Wilmington area.

Damage is minimal though. My parents live on the coast of NC, we've been through a bunch of these.

This one moved through fast which is always good.

Just got back from southport on Saturday.

Glad I missed it.

So false positive test? Can’t wait until those cause key players to miss games.

Yeah that’s my biggest fear. The sixers tanked to get assets and cap space only to be undone by crappy ownership that has no clue on how to run the franchise and the GMs they’ve hired since hinkie have wasted cap space and assets.

Jags had several players come off the COVID list early.  Must be false positive tests.   You would think the NFL teams would be using the same labs but it sure makes you wonder about the quality of the lab doing Jacksonville’s tests.

I think people can be on the list if they were exposed to someone who tested positive.  So it may be that they tested negative after exposure.
