It's no worse now than The Moral Majority was in the 80s.  Those creeps were always on their high horse trying to censor and remove TV shows, movies, all sorts of entertainment that didn't meet their "standards".  They put a lot of pressure on sponsors and networks.  Stand-up comedians are more tasteless now than ever; even I can't put up with more than about 10-15 minutes of Jim Jefferies, Anthony Jeselnik, or Bill Burr -- and those are just the mainstream ones.

There's certainly no shortage of violence or nudity in today's movies.  I'd say any shortage of humor might be because of a lack of comedic writing talent more than a fear of offending anyone.

I'm confused. Their "high horse standards" was trying to cut back on nudity, violence, bad language, ect, ect. So are you mad because they did that or are you mad because nobody does that now?

Pfft.  You can't interrupt the obsessive Chip hate.  It's almost as powerful as the obsessive McNabb hate or the obsessive Patriots hate.

Chip sucks

Neither -- I'm disagreeing with the assertion that there are comedy movies that aren't being made now because the industry is afraid of offending anyone.  There have always been "watchdogs", and there are still lots of entertainment options that push the envelope.

Fair enough.

Catholics had the Legion of Decency, equally repellent. Before that was the Hays office, which still exists in a watered down form. G, PG, R, MA,. Those guys. When I was a kid we all wanted to see movies rated X.

Watch the movie PCU and the people who get offended over everything. It's why a lot of comedians won't go to college campuses anymore.

I agree i miss the good ole days when i could say overtly racist stuff because it was funny😒

Is it racist or just creating comedy based off of racial stereotypes?  One of my favorite stand up acts of all time is Eddie Murphy's Delirious.  He constantly rags on white people but it's still hilarious.    Heck he did the white face act on SNL and it was hilarious.  Don't care because there's truth to every stereotype out there.  Do all white people walk on their toes, talk with a nasally tone of voice of course not.

IMO, a lot of good comedy is based off of exaggerating racial stereotypes.

East Bound and Down, Joe Dirt, Reno 911 while they aren't comedy gold by any means all exaggerate redneck/white trash stereotypes.

Just like I'm Gonna Git You Sucka or CB4 exaggerate a lot of the inner city stereotypes.

The term racist is so watered down anymore it's lost all meaning.  What Riley Cooper said was racist.  Calling someone a racial slur to their face is racist.

Look up the Gary Patterson story to see what qualifies as racist now.

Writing was on the wall with this one. Probably doesn't speak well to Miller though.

Also you are going to have to interject something political into this if you want a discussion nowadays.
