YEP.  Some of you are blind to what is coming...I've been trying to tell you.  Don't worry.  We reached and drafted a project back up QB and a linebacker who is built like a corner.

As long as both lines stay healthy I trust the front office and coaching staff to draft and develop those guys accordingly. We’ll see how Reagor pans out. Didn’t really like him coming out but hope I’m wrong.

It’ll definitely take a few hours before they have a chance at being as good as that 2017 team.

When they won it in 2017, younger guys stepped up.  Especially when some of those older guys got hurt.  In 2020 we are not deep.  We are old and thin because of poor drafting over the past few years.  Winning with an old team reliant on free agency is an outlier.  You build through the draft.  I know I shouldn't have to say that here in the BLOG.  Everyone knows that.  2017 is not a realistic blueprint for the future.  Neither is the New England Patriots for God sakes.  Bill Belicheck is the best ever and so was Brady.  We have neither.

JFC.

Well, 2 of the past 3 Super Bowl winners were reliant on free agency to build their teams. The Chiefs went out and gave big contracts to Frank Clark, Tyrian Mathieu and Sammy Watkins. The Rams got to the Super Bowl by...giving big money to Brandin Cooks, Andrew Whitworth, Robert Woods and Aqib Talib.

Do you have to do this? No. The 49ers largely built their team through the draft, with a few exceptions notably the QB.

There's multiple ways to win. If teams only won by how well they drafted, the Steelers and Packers would be in the SB every year. The Packers were bad/average for a while, until they finally paid veterans in free agency.

Kempski has actually improved over time.  I do think he has some connections inside the locker room.  He definitely doesn't have one with Slay now though.

Kempski started from way back, though. His first year+ as a "reporter" was crap, full of snark. He was, it seemed to me, always looking for a cheap laugh and his self-generated feuds with certain players just diminished him in my eyes. It's like he wants them to do badly so he can crow about it. Already this off-season he's been more jerk than usual with his comments on Dillard, which included baseless reporting, and now with Slay. His stick art can be very funny, and I enjoy it but I wish he had more respect for the players and, truth be told, respect for the game. It's a hard sport but he never seems to acknowledge that. He's eminently capable of good analysis, witness his rundown of Wentz's fumbles, but he doesn't do enough of it.

JMHO.

Howie!

I mentioned this yesterday I think. Going to be interesting what Howie does. Howie will have to guess on if it's time to replace some aging vets but also wont have footage of draft prospects since early spring this year or fall of last year

No Brees? Also why would Murray be on the list. Stafford above Rodgers?

Before Stafford got hurt he was actually playing at a really high level. The lions just suck so bad it gets put on him meanwhile he was playing really well last year before his injury. Only played 8 games. had 2499 yards, 19 tds and 5 picks. On pace for 4998, 38 tds and 10 picks (106 rating)

i agree i dont think murray did enough to be 8th on this list. Then again I’d have left murray off for dak, brees, tannehill and even cousins.

I like Nagy, but he’s such a shill for all Senior Bowl players that his analysis gets lost.

I don’t know how Beast has the time for all his cars, his business, his multiple homes, watching all those college games and still having time to watch all the NFL analysts.  Must never sleep.

And people get upset when players want to get paid.

Takes no time to own cars or homes,  I have quality people who work for me , no hand holding nessecary.

I watch football for fun ,others chooses to golf or hunt or fish....its really not that complicated.

If only that was George 😔

I’m referring to the first movie when George is getting bullied then Biff flips his attention to Marty to bully him and George laughs at Marty at a desperate attempt to look cool.

And all that money and then some is gone if there’s just one lawsuit. This isn’t rocket science.

I would assume that a lot of the CFB issues right now are 100% based on liability. Statistically, the age range of these players puts them at little to no risk if they get sick, but all it takes is for one player who has an unknown heart or lung issue to get it and die. I would be curious if all these players who are saying "We want to play" would be willing to sign a waiver holding the NCAA not responsible if they get sick.

Great to hear NRC say the plan is for CBs to be up on WRs this year, and let the DL do its thing.

That is what Sidney Jones was supposed to be good at. That is what Mills was good at. That is what Rasul was good at. That is what Darby was supposed to be good at. And yet we rarely ever did it.

Its a good chance for Rasul, and Jones to play to their strengths again and finally prove themselves one way or the other.

I would say this is the perfect argument for players NOT to get paid.  I posted about this last week.  Outside of a few top schools, college sports aren't making money.  Yes, football is bringing in $120 million but that $120 million is paying for all other sports to happen.  Nebraska isn't there sitting on $120 million thinking what can we do with all this cash.  They are funding all the other sports.  Paying to install top notch facilities, players lounges, cafeterias and such.  There is such a misconception about the money made by college football.

I'm curious about that as well now. Has it been suggested?

I hated 10yd cushion that Schwartz gave WRs

right. when he had a DL attacking, but allowed the cushion for QBs to get rid of it quickly. Made no sense. And when he acquired all the press CBs and never let them press....

Maybe the new DB coach is bringing the common sense.

He is full of snark.  I do think he is sincere in his criticism and I don't think the criticism of Slay's tackling is baseless.  I don't think he's that hyper critical in his articles.

There is a delicious local food hotspot called Mediterranean Deli. Every time you post, I get hunger pangs...

In Chapel Hill?

Exactly.  Sorry you burned out 20 years ago.  But you assume you wouldn't be burned out by repeated concussions,  injuries, training camp, losing seasons, riding pine, stupid teammates, lousy coaching, unrealistic goals to achieve bonuses, idiotic owner, and just the reality that a game you loved became a job like every other job put there.

I assumed that I burned out 20 years ago and had to /have to keep going. Sorry you needed to take such exception to that. I would trade that young man any day of the week. He can decide that he's burned out and quit which I probably wouldn't do. And now I'm done with this.

Yes. I don't eat out often... I can almost always make better food at home, but I will scarf down some med deli and Al's burgers 👍

I think there'd be a riot if Schwartz had Slay line up 10 yds off a WR lol

Maybe we'll see that 1st round talent that Jones was supposed to have

I eat out about once a week, for me  it's not that the food is better it's just a treat to not have to cook.

Side note...

I sincerely hope everyone is doing OK amongst the shiddy situation our world is in. I know I annoy the crap out of people on here when I act like a 12 year old, but it’s how I deal with stress. Despite how much of a **** I look like in hindsight.

The gym I run lost almost 25% of it’s membership, I had to cancel a trip to Florida, and there’s a good chance I’ll be forced to make a career change soon. So much for that exercise science masters degree....

Very unsure about football season. I’m going to miss Saturday morning college gameday. Just can’t find myself to get motivated when I know the top stories will all be covid related.

On a positive note.... really enjoying the Flyers right now and happy I never cared about the Sixers.

I’ve never reported anyone. I got banned for two weeks when I told a Yankees fan to get Aids. Got warning points a few other times but I forget
