Would you do it for Kelce? He's a year older than Ertz

I wouldn’t have extended Kelce with two years left either.

#2 seems wildly unrealistic but I'd carry Jones to Carolina on my back if it was possible to get Samuel.

I would only extend someone with two years left if I’m getting a great deal. I don’t see the purpose in doing so with a guy like Ertz when we already have his natural replacement and is due for a big pay raise.

We’d have to throw in a third round pick I bet.

Ertz is really good, but he’ll be entering his age 32 season when he hits FA. Let him play out his contract. Goedert should be plenty ready to be the No. 1 TE. With how much football changes, we may not even want to be a two-TE offense in 2022.

I love Zach Ertz and everything he's done as an Eagle and for the Eagles.  He's embraced Philly and just seems like a good dude.  With that being said, he is not worth the money...especially with Goedert ready to take that next step.  I think a lot of his numbers are also padded by the fact that he was THE option.  Not taking anything away from what he's done.  He's an all-timer.  We don't win SB52 without 2 huge catches.

Ertz also doesn't seem like he's the kind of tight end who is going to age really well.  He's not a bruiser, he's a finesse tight end.  Despite his weight he has a really slender build, especially in the lower body so his game isn't built around power.  To me, the tight ends who keep on plugging away are the beefier guys who while they slow down, they enhance their blocking.  The develop in to that 2nd tight end.

Ertz is going to turn in to an oversized, slower slot WR.  We also just can't afford to have gobs of money tied in to tight end.

Goedert is the one who really has to be drooling over these tight end contracts.

One of my favorite things to do once camp starts is to browse every teams website to see rookies/FA's in their new gear.  See what numbers guys are wearing and such.  I've always been an equipment junkie so it's something I really enjoy to see.  I did this today and I'm just going to say it again...PE.com is the worst site in the NFL and it isn't even close.  EVERY team that has practiced has photos up, interviews with players, unique content.

The Browns have a daily 2 hour Browns Camp Live.  The freaking BROWNS.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, heck I brought it up earlier this week but now that things are rolling it's easy to see how horrible PE.com is.

Minus Lane Johnson, Wentz and Cox, we have gotten more out of second round picks than first.  Do you think picking one slot higher would have changed that.

On top of that, teams that continually draft in the top 10 never seem to get better.  Winning games is priority one towards building a winner.

Added one more to those 1st rounders.

We should have traded Ertz this past offseason.  Preferably during the draft.  But then we would have wasted the pick on a long snapper.

I don’t agree. He’s still easily the best receiving threat on the team. Goedert is good but can still be inconsistent.

If the WR situation was better I’d feel differently but it sucks. Right now the 3 best receiving threats on the team are two TEs and a RB.

I can't see any reason Carolina would make that trade.

Wait until the Browns find out you are feeding information to the Steelers.

Too late, already told them OBJ is a huge **** dancing and only making 1 handed catches while checking his Apple Watch between plays.

Yea, I don't even think you could pull that off in Madden

Bohm with a double in his first career at bat... eat your heart out carter hart lol

Not saying he didn't, but it is gonna cost him now.

I'm all for trading him after the season.  They're set up well if they can extend Goedert.  Once Ertz leaves, run less 12 personnel and utilize Desean, Reagor, or hopefully one of the quick twitch rookies in the slot, and run the offense the way Carson needs it to be run.....with speed.

Really?  How did getting rid of DeSean and Shady work out?

You want to keep play makers.

Rush for burkhead?  Yes please

I did not think he would end up being this good.  Good for him.

When is Goedert up for a new contract?

Excuse me.  Are you talking to me?  Or maybe he was talking to me!

We have to face the facts that paying Ertz close to 15 mil per year is ridiculous at this stage of his career.  He's one of the best route running TE's in the history of the game, and I would miss his skill set here, but you can't pay both Ertz and Goedert.  I think Goedert is a beast.  He's already a key component to the run game and 10x the blocker that Ertz is.  He's made a few bonehead plays, but I'd rather pay the young TE who hasn't hit his ceiling yet than someone who will inevitably be on the decline in a few years.

Yup, and it needs to be repeated so they can see the message.

Not sure Ertz could reasonably command 15m for the reasons you state.  I think he really wants to stay here and there is a number for a third contract that works for both sides.

The problem will be more likely that Goedert wants to be paid like a top TE and may not extend here, bet on himself in 2021, and look into FA for top dollar elsewhere

I was OK with getting rid of LeSean McCoy with the premise to use the money in other areas of the team. The problem with that was they got pennies on the dollar in a trade and Chip Kelly was dumb as he reinvest the money He saved back into the running back position with Ryan Mathews and DeMarco Murray who were not as good as LeSean McCoy And making nearly the same.

I think mccoy is great but i also rather not pay a running back top money when he got traded at 27. To me when running back hits 28 he’s year-to-year on if he’s going to stay consistently great (he made it thru 29 before falling off the cliff). So trading him at 27 wasn’t that much of a stretch to me if you thought he was going to start to decline in a year or two. But you would have to maximize the fact that he was in his peak prime for at least another year maybe two and they didn’t. I’m ok using a 2-3rd round pick on a back i love and keep cycling that way ala miles sanders. However the eagles also continuously didn’t address running back until late 4th round or later until sanders.

desean I’d 100 percent agree with. Could even throw maclin out there with how effective he was in chip’s offense.

Kind of have to hope he gives the Eagles a discount.  I don't want to be that guy, but I'd rather keep him if at all possible.  It's one of those things where we've gotten so used to his level of play, it's going to be noticeable when he's gone.  Until Carson finds another trustworthy target, of course.  Def not a given though.

I don't think these 2 are on the same level.  It's Kittle, Kelce, and everyone else waaaay down as far as being a complete TE.

True but I do think Zach Ertz is more likely to age more gracefully then kittle and kelce. Both of those guys take a lot of hits That ertz for the better part of his career has avoided besides the kidney shot.
