I’ve forgotten the luxury of having goaltender sorted out with "the” guy. Hart can take this team places

Don’t know how the Flyers are up 2-1 in this series. As a whole the Canadiens have been the better team

How do you define talent? JJAW and Agholor have more talent, is that it? Bigger, faster , stronger. Ability to actually play the game, I guess, doesn’t count. Edelman and Amendola and Landry don’t measure up either in the talent department. It must be luck, because they lack talent.

I would like it all thank you. Again there is nothing wrong with the desire to push a guy down the depth chart and hope for a better player to take his place.

Unfortunately it seems the higher draft pick is higher on the depth chart no matter whether they are producing or not.

It shows the inability to admit they've made a mistake.

Well. while I understand your argument and even share much of it, here's my issue with it that I can't get past. Production beats talent. I will grant that Ward probably is the least physically talented WR on the team on the measurables...unless you count production.  His skills are limited to getting open and catching the ball. These limited skills are shared by players like Adelman and Amedola, but not by Agholor or JJAW. I see people ripping Ertz for much the same reason: he's just not physically impressive. However, he knows how.

It should make you happy to see that we drafted a track team. All those guys are fast, really fast. Maybe they can push Ward down the depth chart and make you happy. If they can produce more than Ward with their better talent I'll be happy too. I wouldn't hold my breath though

There are caveats here, of course. Ward's CV is not even half a season's worth. To me, he showed a lot; to others he showed less.

In my youth, the Baltimore Colts, with Johnny Unitas, had Lenny Moore at one WR and Raymond Berry at the other. Moore was much faster but Berry was the clutch receiver. They were a good pair. I think with some burners on this team and Ertz in the 12-15-yard range Ward can wreak havoc. With that grouping he won't have to be particularly fast; he'll just work the holes those other guys will tear in the coverages. I think that putting a fast kid in there who doesn't have Ward's feel will be counterproductive and production is what I think we both want.

Watched the Hard Knocks episode last night and it’s just a preview of the season.

Everything being discussed will be covid covid covid. It sucks. The episode has funny moments but there was very little in depth discussion about individual players.

And no freakin way players were keeping their masks on at all times.

Then LOL at me.  Cause you and I both know you were talking about me.  You’re his biggest fan.  We get it.  But how many years of camp drills have you seen?   Cause you can pick out great plays on camp drills all the time.  The guy is not a complete receiver.  And he’s old and his main claim to fame is his speed.  I wouldn’t expect much from him going forward.   But fan boy on.  I have my old DJax Jersey I can send you.  My guess is you already have more than one.

lol

I wasn't talking about you.  Just about every DJax naysayer uses that line and there are tons of them.  But if you want to send me your old DJax jersey, I'll take it.  Although if it's a black one I already have one.  :towel:

So Jason Peters is going to continue with his work load management during practice.  This is a bit concerning considering a brand new position is being learned.  I guess they just have to develop that chemistry on the right side during games.  I hope he plays well but I was on the Matt Pryor bandwagon excited to see what he could do with full prep with the 1s.  Sounds like he will still get that chance with JP getting rest.

It seems like every single year our OL has players missing, developing no cohesiveness until the season has already started.  I hate that.

Yep

No longer a QB factory

It sure is frustrating.

My gripe is that I don't think anyone was lined up at JP's door.  My preference would have been to roll with Pryor at RG.  IMP there would have been 3 outcomes.

1.  Pryor doesn't step up to the challenge and fails at RG.  Then you bring in JP as an emergency RG.

2. Pryor is the player he was last year.  He gives you OK play while manning the position until Brandon Brooks is healthy.

3. Pryor improves every week with the more experience he gets and develops in to a solid starting option at RG/eventual BB replacement.

Now we have JP playing RG, Pryor is back on the bench and we have no idea what he could be.

Well I wouldn't want to push him down the depth chart if it wasn't warranted so we kinda agree here.

Well, to 1. JP would be playing a new position at RG. Give him some reps. You don't just call him in off the street and ask him to do that. As it is now, you have both JP and Pryor on the roster.

To 2. IF IF IF JP is better than Pryor, wouldn't you want the better player in there until Brooks gets back? And if you go with Pryor and he gets hurt, see 1.

To 3. your best alternative. Pryor is a solid run blocker but lacks great lateral movement. I'm sure he works on that all the time and yes, playing will make him better. This is your best argument.

A couple of other things: I think this may be Kelce's last year. If so, I would expect Seumalo to move to C so we would need another guard and I would expect Pryor to be that guy. That goes to your #3. However, Pryor is not the most agile guy and we play a strong guard, quick guard system, where the LG does most of the pulling. I'm not sure Pryor is up to that.

In any event, having more good players on the OL is, well, good. If past is prologue, we'll need them.

And finally, JP wouldn't be back if Stoutland didn't want him.

I hear your points.  I don't think JP was a hot commodity with teams lining up for him.  I would much rather the team said to Matt Pryor, let's see what you can do.  Earn this spot.   Instead they brought in a 39 year old left tackle to play RG.  We have NO IDEA what JP can do at RG.  The only thing we do know is that it's a 1 year fix.

I wanted to see Pryor get in there, gain some confidence and become a better player.  Confidence is such a huge factor when it comes to being successful.  Look at Aaron Mooreheads comments on Greg Ward.  It's all about confidence and knowing you can do the job and that the coaches believe you can do the job.  Matt Pryor was just told that even though you've been on this team for 3 years now learning the position, we are going to bring in a tackle to take the spot.  You can't tell me that doesn't take a toll on a guys mentality.
