August 20, 20205 yr Really nice breakdown on this kid's potential... - Plays much stronger/bigger than his size/weight. - Goes up and attacks the ball on "jump balls". - Also has a basketball background. - Good route runner. - Nice hands. - Very good deep ball tracking ability. - Exceptional run-after-the-catch ability. - Good football instincts for the WR position - Oh...and he's super-fast.

Sheesh some people are desperate to praise anything. people buy wayyyyy too much into training camp tweets and short videos. Happens every year. And then someone who looked great in camp does nothing. At this point i take everything with a grain of salt until i actually see them do it in a regular season game and produce then. 40 minutes ago, Ace Nova said: Well baldy and ross tucker would be sad if he’s gone.

Yeah, he gets hurt and maybe he isn't an all star, but he looked decent in the past. I just can't see how they cut him this year.

But i mean it’s not exactly like he’s proven himself to be a capable back up in the league. He’s been hurt the last two years and he has had minimal experience. If Driscoll looks good and better than mailata in training camp then I could easily see them moving on. Why keep a guy who can’t beat out a rookie who’s had essentially no Hands on mini camps during Covid pandemic. Like why keep a guy on the roster heading into year three that’s still not capable of being the top swing tackle back up cause a rookie beat him out. I get the covid situation but if hes not capable of stepping in as the top backup then you are counting on your 3rd string LT and at that point not likely to have much success anyway.

Covid isn't something that can be ignored this year. I think he's proven somewhat capable just not dependable, which is an issue. If it weren't for Covid then I think there would be a greater likelihood, but they have Johnson, Driscoll, Dillard, and Mailata with Peters able to swing outside I guess. They have to keep 2 backups at T even if Covid wasn't around...unless they see more in Prince TW. Covid could take out two guys without a problem, so I just don't see it.

I think he'll cut Brown loose and make a terrie trade involving Ben or Joel. Do we know yet when next season will begin?

Even the beat writers can pick up that he just cannot stop or even handle an inside spin move, still. Ostman was killing him last year with it and Toohill was doing it just the other day. It's not a knock on him that he's not a complete OT just yet, either. Question is do you carry him on the active roster or do gamble getting him on the PS and then using one of your protected player designations on him. They put a lot of time and coaching into him to just pull the plug now.

When has he proven to be capable? He’s never even played in a regular season game. He could go out there and be terrible in live action against starters. Additionally he’s had problems with back up defensive ends doing spin moves but he has no counter for or been able to stop. Furthermore your third string tackle behind Driscoll if they went that way as the swing would likely be Jason peters and they’d go put someone else at RG. additionally if Covid took out our entire offensive line or 3 of the 5 we have bigger issues because you would need 3 to 5 new offense of lineman. Mailta isn’t saving the eagles season if that happens.

I kind of feel like if the eagles would’ve had the kid from army make it to their practice squad last year and still here that mailata would be more likely gone as he was also a developmental guy but i think likely further along in his development. I think it’s still gonna be here. But I don’t think it’s a stretch to say he’s not gonna be here Or that covid saves him. You can use that excuse at almost every position. Even with Covid being a factor he’s not saving the Eagles if oline gets Covid and he’s forced to play. He has not proven himself and he’s proven more that he still a ways away from being a capable starter heck I would even say top back up.
