In terms of Mailata, I would be a little more concerned about this:

than I would about who will be the backup tackle, especially since Cox, Barnett and Hargrave were all not practicing today, i.e 3/4s of our starters.

When has he proven to be capable? He’s never even played in a regular season game. He could go out there and be terrible in live action against starters. Additionally he’s had problems with back up defensive ends doing spin moves but he has no counter for or been able to stop. Furthermore your third string tackle behind Driscoll if they went that way as the swing would likely be Jason peters and they’d go put someone else at RG.

additionally if Covid took out our entire offensive line or 3 of the 5 we have bigger issues because you would need 3 to 5 new offense of lineman. Mailta isn’t saving the eagles season if that happens.

"proven somewhat capable" was the quote and I'd say in the preseason last year he looked like he belonged against starters. When you get to the 3rd or 4th tackle there are always questions.

They would have bigger issues we agree, but they have to put someone out there to protect Wentz. Saving the season isn't the point. Just hoping to keep Wentz on his feet for a week or two if say Johnson and Dillard get it at the same time, which isn't out of realm of possibilities. Johnson is also still one bad protein drink away from a ban and injuries happen.

Again, they have to keep a 4th tackle...if they think Prince is further along then maybe. I just don't see it with all the things looming this year. My best guess is he makes the team and probably is let go in the offseason.

And its not the Ravens, that was the fake Schefter account.

I liked Hamler coming out but oh... his size.

Some people are worried about UDFA Killins' size...Hamler & Killins are roughly the same weight/size.

So the preseason is now considered somewhat capable. The preseason? Really we’re going to go based off preseason. Because we’re going off preseason Nelson agholor should’ve been a stud his rookie year. Jjaw should’ve been great last year if preseason mattered. Sorry that’s not capable Of an NFL regular season game. Preseason does not matter whatsoever when he’s asked to be a starter in games that matter where guys are actually trying.

OK even if both of those guys get hurt. You still have Driscoll who you probably moved right tackle and Jason peters that you move to left tackle and start Matt Pryor. So mailata it is still not getting on the field Because Driscoll would have been better in camp and Jason peters they trust more than mailata. So at that point mailata is now your swing tackle backup. Add on Matt Pryor can also play tackle. And likely could call up prince from PS if need be. Add on they might like some of the guard/center versatility guys that if Matt Pryor has to move out There when Jason peters gets hurt that they could play those guys at guard more than a like putting mailata there.

Again they don’t have to keep a fourth tackle. Matt pryor has versatility where he can play guard and tackle so he could Be your 4th tackle on the roster. So you have your two starters, Driscoll, peters and Pryor all who could play tackle. Add on prince who they likely have on PS.

Foles has always been streaky. We just got lucky he was streaky good at the right time.

Yeah even dating back to his time at Arizona he’s been streaky. People don’t remember because they don’t really watch Arizona Wildcats football. Because why would you they mostly suck. But going into his senior season he was considered a top 20 draft pick. The end of his junior year he was hot and consistent. The reason why he fell where he did in the draft with because he was super up and down senior year  He started the season on fire. But then he does what he always does was up and down with his performance week to week.  And he dropped all the way to the third round because people wouldn’t take the chance on his consistency Along with some other issues in his game.

Yes. Preseason determines if people get cut, so yes...if he looked "somewhat capable" as I said against them then yes I'd feel he would be "somewhat capable" in a real game. When we are talking 4th tackle that's what you pretty much get and hope for.

I don't see him getting cut at this point and could be wrong. I don't think this is the year you want to cut someone they saw so much potential in and have been patient with.

We will absolutely disagree about them having to keep a 4th tackle. I absolutely feel they need one regardless of Pryor. Heck, without Covid the past two years they got down pretty far on the depth chart. I think Seumalo even had to kick out once, but could be wrong. Can he get cut? Sure. Will he? I seriously doubt it, which I think we agree on because you said "likely not". So...why are we still talking about this? Because I said he has looked somewhat capable because he played decent against starters last preseason? Really?

I can agree that Kraft is a piece of crap

Really displays the value of having money in the crIminal justice system. The average Joe takes a misdemeanor solicitation charge and probably is impacted for life with that on their record. Kraft fights the admission of the film and likely walks.  No punishment from Roger.  Is it any wonder that playing the system to the point of cheating is the culture with his team? Kraft isn’t challenging his guilt he is challenging the admission of the film that proves his guilt.  There will always be an asterisk by his, Brady’s and Belichick’s accomplishments. Still would love to see if the Pats are still using TB12 services.

Dude, we usually agree on things, but just don't seem to here. I don't see him getting cut at this point and could be wrong. I don't think this is the year you want to cut someone they saw so much potential in and have been patient with.

I could give a crap less about preseason football Two and a year ago. you’re trying to tell me because he looked somewhat capable for a guy who’s never played the game before coming to the eagles in the preseason against starters who are just trying to get through it without getting hurt. That I should take that as he’s somewhat capable.  Meanwhile in training camp he’s getting beat by guys who are third and fourth string defensive ends on the eagles like ostman. Yeah don’t buy that argument. So you’re willing to buy in to the preseason but in training camp when he’s struggling against Joe ostman we ignore that factor

I never said they are going to cut them. I said I could see them cutting him if they believe Driscoll is better. As well as they believe Matt Pryor or Jason peters if Driscoll doesn’t work out they can just push them into that role and not even have to use mailata who would be having a roster spot yet again who they don’t want to play cause he’s not Even somewhat capable Yet Im their eyes as he still wouldn’t be the top backup to a rookie who hasn’t had all the things given to him as a normal rookie would

We are still talking about it because you’re trying to convince me because of the preseason last year (A whole year ago) which has absolutely a completely different vibe than regular season football that he is somewhat capable. Meanwhile he’s never taken a regular season snap at LT or tackle in his life. And starters in the preseason are trying to just get out of the preseason without injury. And limited snaps and just working on their craft not playing it like a regular season game. If Driscoll beat him out it tells me that mailata is not somewhat capable. Because if he was somewhat capable the Eagles would want him to be there swing tackle. Not the backup to a rookie who came into the league at a disadvantage. That would speak volumes to me.

The Giants taking Hostetler with a high pick a few years after taking Simms didn't work?

This is not even close as a valid comparison.  Yes, Phil Simms was picked 7th overall in 1979, and Hostetler was a 3rd round pick in 1983, but Simms first several years were inconsistent at best and he suffered through several injuries.  Simms missed 1982, was benched by Parcells in 1983 and asked to be traded.  When he got another opportunity he was promptly hurt again.  He was hardly an established franchise QB by any means, and hedging against what he was would have made sense even if the Giants took someone else in the first round.

Carson may have had injuries, but he also was on his way to winning the league MVP in the 2017 year, when his team won a championship.  He signed a massive contract to be the franchise QB, and went out and led the team to the playoffs with the 32nd best WR group in the entire league.  Then the team went out and took a high profile QB in round 2.

In the modern, new CBA era, hedging against your franchise QB is an indefensible, insane position that will bring about a myriad of issues.

Trading for a guy to specifically be a backup.  Not drafting a high profile prospect in round 2.  Steve Young wasn't wanted by Tampa Bay.

The thing with Tega (his name isn’t Prince, he really is a Nigerian Prince) is probably his health. Don’t get me wrong, he is raw and has some faults but not as raw as Mailata who last year seemed to hit a plateau.  I like Tega’s feet. His pass rush anchor needs work (so does Driscoll’s) and he drops his hands too much but if anyone can teach punch, it is Stout and player/coach Jason Peters (best punch in football, well maybe Ogden could have challenged that).

Tatis is playing great too. He also has 7 more games than harper does right now as well. Numbers are good for both.

tatis: .317 avg, .393 obp, .731 slug 12 homers and 29 RBIs. 12 BB and 32Ks

harper: .354 avg, .475 obp, .667 slug, 6 HRs, 16 RBIs, 13BBs and 13Ks

tatis HR and RBI total is amazing for playing just 27 games. Harper’s walk to strikeout ratio is amazing considering he tends to be a high strikeout guy even if he gets a lot of walks.
