I'm not a Sixers fan, actually a Spurs fan but I never understood why they got Horford?  Seems like in today's NBA you need tall, athletic wings more so then traditional PFs or C's.

To me they screwed up taking Fultz over Tatum.  Never saw what the big deal with Fultz was.  Could have had a nice 3 with Embiid, Simmons and Tatum and maybe even kept Jimmy Butler too.

Just like when Larry Brown took Larry Hughes rather than Paul Pierce.  I think there was no way Butler stayed after he watched Embiid not work like a maniac to stay in shape and he realized Ben not only won't shoot, but can't shoot.   Jimmy knows he needs shooters around him.  He knows if he is the best shooter on the team, its trouble in thos NBA

I didn’t get the Horford signing either. I thought it was redundancy of what you already had. You had too many guys that needed to play in the post and not enough wing and guards to compete in what the NBA is today. Elton Brand thought well if we get another big guy like Al Horford he can guard Giannis in the playoffs and we could have an elite defense of team. The problem is Horford was already showing signs of declining and had a knee issue. Plus he was 33. Plus he was never going to mesh well enough with Embiid and Simmons because he’s not a good enough three-point shooter to space the floor. On top of that analytic showed he was worse at power forward than he was at center. And somehow the Sixers have had this idea since playing embiid that they needed a back up center almost as good as embiid if they were going to win. You’re never going to get anybody close to the level of embiid unless you get Anthony Davis or Joker which was never happening.

The fultz thing they never should’ve trade it up. Because the Celtics were always going to take Tatum. That’s who they wanted. So the odds were lakers we’re going to take ball because of them liking him and his LA ties. You still would’ve gotten fultz at 3 and kept your picks instead of giving them to Boston. But then again that’s what tends to happen when you hire a GM who shouldn’t of gotten the job and doesn’t listen to others in the organization who didn’t want fultz.

This all stems back to the Sixers ownership is bad. They didn’t hire a good gm after Colangelo because nobody wanted the job with the restrictions of you have to work with these people in place. So you got after Colangelo’s poor mismanagement of assets you got another crappy GM

Thomas and Clinton-Dix would be the 2 safety's.  Pretty good/solid but who are their CBs?

Havent seen alot of Earl since he left Seattle.  Is he still considered a top Safety?  I know I seen Nick Chubb leave him in the dust last year.

There have been reports that Clinton-Dix is losing his job to Darian Thompson and might not make the team.

Oh Lord.  And JJAW is beating Maddox 1 on 1 in red zone  today.

He’s got 6 inches on him so he should be beating him. I also think they are doing this on purpose to give Maddox extra work with taller receivers. Sounds like he was shadowing him all day

Right, Everson and Lawrence are good, not great.  Aldon Smith, even if healthy at this point, is only OK.  Zeke has been used a lot.  But mostly I' just think the praise of their talent is hype.  Win anything, and it's an argument.  Couldnt even beat the Eagles to win the division last season with our corners and WRs, Brooks out, the interior of the D line in shambles????  Their talent is talk, not action.  Therefore, it isn't that good.

Maybe it is hype but they do have alot of talent.  Just looking at their depth chart you can see how many quality players they have.

Whether it equals wins is another question.  History tells us no but I mean they should at least make the playoffs with that team.

I can tell you with good authority from some of the coaches here at Arizona who still talk to one of the coaches on Brett Brown staff (and you can figure out who it is) that the Sixers never even offer to Jimmy Butler a fifth year max contract. They didn’t want to pay him and deal with the other issues involved or be paying him 38 million and be in the luxury tax five years from now. And that was the reason Jimmy Butler did not come back. He wasn’t turning down 38 million at age 34. All this other noise that he’s coming up with to like make it seem all these other reasons were it are just noise. He wanted the fifth year max but if he came out and said I wanted the fifth your max and that’s why I’m not back in Philadelphia it looks like he’s just greedy and about money.

Interesting?  Always thought he was a good player with GB.

Meh... some of those are a little far fetched.  Lawrence and Everson Griffin are good DEs.  If Aldon Smith is back to playing shape that's 3 guys who can rush the passer.  Zeke is not on the downside of his career.  If anything he's entering his prime.  One reason they finished 8-8 was they didnt use Zeke enough.  When he's the focal point of the offense they win.  Hopefully McCarthy being as pass happy as he is let's Dak throw it 50 times a game.

Elliot touched the ball 355 times. I’m not sure how much more you can use him. And  with the workload they gave him I’d be hard pressed to say he’s just entering his prime.

I don't follow the NBA but I suspect that the Sixers are more embarrassing than are the Phillies.  I do not see how the coach and GM of the Sixers survive this.

I honestly haven't kept track of him. When the legion of boom was dismantled but Thomas was still there I think the defense wasn't good

Easy sixers ownership is equally as awful.

Hes still young.  He has 2-3 years left where he can carry a large workload.

The 2 years Dallas won the division and made the playoffs Zeke had his highest number of touches per game.  Last year he had 355.  Rookie year he had 354 but also missed 1 game.

Just sayin.....when hes the focal point of the offense and gets a heavy workload, good things happen for them.

Seems the Cowboys always have a lot of talent. Problem is ever since their glory days in the 90s all that talent has amounted to bubkis which id say is sad but i think its hilarious. Stupid cowboys Dallas sucks!!!

Maybe it is just the hype of playing for Dallas.  When someone you never heard of makes a couple plays their fans want to put him in the HOF after 1 game.  Same with Lakers fans.  A guy like Chris Caruso scores a few baskets and they're thinking this guy is great.

The Cowpies did the same thing to Demarco Murray. We know how long he lasted.

Maybe it’s just me but he looks less special every year since his rookie year. Not saying he isn’t good because he’s still a very good RB.

I honestly don’t know what Dallas is doing on offense. They paid their RB big money just to throw a ton of assets at WR. They should just pick what they want their O to be and build around that.

Is 86 your birth year? Act like it.

It is an act, and a stupid one.

Why don’t you take the massive stick out of your arse and stop telling people to "act their age?”  It’s a message board.  Have some fun with it.  No need to suck the fun out of every single thing that’s posted.

How yall feel about Bradley getting reps with the ones?

Eagles could definitely use the help at LB if bradley can show out would be able to improve a LB room without much proven talent.

Im not sure what to think of him, i figure some on the board who follow Temple football might have more informed views?

I watched a couple of games (cut-ups) and thought he looked awful. Hopefully I watched the wrong games.

Cowboys have a big problem with culture; if they stay out of the coaching staff’s way and let McCarthy and Nolan run the team they might be okay — but they’ve never done that.  Eventually even Jimmy Johnson couldn’t function there.  Parcells couldn’t function there.  I don’t like McCarthy’s chances.

They also have a core of players who are all about money.  Elliott held out for money, they couldn’t get Cooper signed without a big overpayment, they can’t get Dak signed, even offering above market value.  I don’t see any players there restructuring or leaving anything on the table to help the team manage the cap.  That’s just not a winning culture.

I truly truly don't understand the Cowboys win the East hype, and I don't think I'm being biased.  Just look at them vs the Eagles just on paper.

Cowboys: They went 8-8 last year despite having the 4th best injury luck in the NFL according to Football Outsider's.  I'd argue their only long-term injury for a star player was Vander Esch.  They have a new head coach with a pretty checkered history in an offseason where team contact has been limited. On paper they had a good draft but again rookies have had even less time to prepare this offseason than usual.

In free agency their notable signings were Gerald McCoy (who was released), Dontari Poe (over the hill), HaHa Clinton-Dix (meh pretty good), Andy Dalton (good backup QB), Aldon Smith (a 5 year retired head case), and Everson Griffen (inconsistent but potentially very good player).

They lost an elite Center in Travis Frederick, and elite corner in Byron Jones, a very good DE in Robert Quinn, and a mediocre slot WR in Randall Cobb.

Eagles: They went 9-7 with with 21st worst injury luck last year, including losing significant starters in DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Malik Jackson, not to mention several other shorter injuries and rotational guys. They have HC/DC continuity but had some shuffling of other staff.  Their draft on paper looks more developmental in general.

In free agency/trades they notably got a very good DT in Javon Hargrave, a stud CB in Slay, and a mediocre safety in Will Parks, and a very good nickel CB in Robey Coleman.

They lost a mediocre swing tackle in Vaitai, an OK backup RB in Howard, stone-hands Agholor, a disappointing CB in Darby, and a very good locker room leader but declining skills box safety in Jenkins.

One team was marginally better last year, has more continuity in their locker room and among their coaching staff in a year where that is even more important than usual, will have more significant returning players from injury, and clearly gained more talent than they lost during the free agency period.

The only argument I see is they had a better draft and McCarthy will make them better which is flimsy at best.
