Brown should be gone.  Think they told him after last year he had to make at least the conference finals this year.  Elton brought in the new players so he will argue that they weren’t used correctly which is somewhat true.  The guys that own the Sixers are finance guys, like the Celtics, so there’s no way they will stand for a sweep.  Sixers have some good talent so with the right coach, they can be a factor.  Embiid just needs to post up more down low on the block and develop a strong go-to move like a baby jump hook and stop shooting lazy three pointers and fade-away jumpers.  Guessing Elton has somebody good in mind because Stevens is a good coach and we have to beat the Celtics one way or another.

You don't trade Simmonds or Embiid. Simmons is like the Greek Freak three years ago, he's just scratching the surface of his talent.

You fire sale the trash Brand brought in, take a step backward, and start building real depth. They may have to take some short-term bad contracts to clear out Horford and Harris, and I'd take what I can get for Richardson, who's really a 6th man, not a PG and not a good enough scorer for off guard.

Thybelle and Milton are fine off the bench, asking Milton to guard a top starting NBA PG is mission impossible.

See if Smith has anything, and instead of giving away all those extra picks, use them to draft athletes and develop them.

If they had stuck with Hinkie's plan, they'd be on the verge of a dynasty today.

The current group has no chance, and there's no one they can add who'll make a difference - so blow it up. Take a couple years to build an athletic young group around your two stars, not overpay for second tier talent. As Burks shows, you can always pick up bench depth for cheap.

To me Simmons doesnt even compare to Giannis now or 3 years ago.  He is not aggressive at all as a scorer.

Theres a lot of stuff out there to make a damning case against the front office.

If for some reason the team is loyal to brand they can at least fire the rest of the colangelo scouting department they retained under him. But I dont know why theyd be that in to Brand. He was only a figurehead anyway. No real GM was going to come in here and pretend to be in charge while using some other horrible GMs sucky scouts.

Spike Eskin is campaigning hard right now all over twitter and whoever he writes for, to get them all fired.

Yesterday an article came out where someone leaked to Pompey that Brett was responsible for breaking up last years team with Butler. You can tell the FO is in big time damage control based on the timing of that article a day before the 6ers were about to be swept. They know theyre in trouble.

I mean.. look at this

I agree with him. It’s why i keep saying ownership is also largely responsible for the crap we’ve seen from this team. It starts with them. Frankly even with brown fired they likely still have issue cause they’ll refuse to clean house and get someone who knows what they are doing in.

Only issue with your plan is I think embiid is going to get impatient and not want to waste more prime years of his career without being a serious title contender. He’s going to ask for a trade. He only has three years left on his contract if you sit and wait two years that means you’re heading into the last year of his contract with him potentially leaving if they’re not better off than they have been doing that build up and losing a lot of value if you try trading him with just 1 year left on his deal.

His lack of dedication to his own fitness tells a different story.

Time with embiid is not a luxury we can afford.

Hes 26. By 29 he will probably be moving like Boban and only capable of a few minutes per game.

If you want to try to win with Embiid you gotta trade Simmons for alll the talent you can get, that fits with Embiid. Draft picks that are thrown in should be used to trade for more vets rather than drafting rookies who need time to develop.

People complain about that all the time. The dude went for 30-13 with trash around him in the series. Imagine if we actually had shooters and spacing. You’d have to guard him one on one and that would increase his offensive performance. Don’t get that right now cause spacing blows and trash around him.

Exactly. We don’t have time with embiid. He’s going to decline likely in 2-3 years with his injury past. Can’t afford to do a minor rebuild with him Cause you’ll waste multiple years of his prime.

The other thing about his playoff performance this year, which was awesome, is that he had like 2 months off to heal and prepare and get in shape. Normally hes coming off 82 games, minus however many he missed due to injury but in the daily grind of the NBA schedule.

I think the pandemic actually helped our team get more than we should have expected from him.

We know better than to expect this yearly from him in the post season. Normally hes beaten down by the time playoffs start.

How yall feel about Bradley getting reps with the ones?

Eagles could definitely use the help at LB if bradley can show out would be able to improve a LB room without much proven talent.

Im not sure what to think of him, i figure some on the board who follow Temple football might have more informed views?

I value hearing about some play at this point but my experience is the beat reporters, their notes and tweets are a little less fluffy than the Spads reports but (1) they are spoon fed by the team and (2) rarely offer in depth reporting.   Not exactly Fran Duffy breaking down film quality.   Eagles are showing vanilla to the beat reporters.  They are seeing a lot of one on one level challenge.  This will continue four more days and then spoon feeding even less so until the opener.   I am more interested in the injuries at this point.  Shaun gets some practices.  I am more interested in how does TJ look.  Is he getting any coverage assignments and how are those going.  Any jukes leaving Gerry confused?  Is Riley able to get off blocks?  See any of this reported on?  I do wonder if there is some Packers level censorship going on.

It actually should’ve helped the Sixers more because Ben Simmons had that back injury and I don’t think he would’ve played if they started the playoffs in April. But he came back in and got hurt again. Frankly I think he hurt his knee because he was overcompensating with his back.

The thing is they need to get on a regiment with Embiid like kawhi has done the last couple years to manage his minutes through the season and games to get him to the playoffs. The reality Horford shouldve given him time off and less minutes to get him to be fresh by the time the playoffs came around. Except horford stunk and didn’t do that. That was one of the major reasons why they signed him. And that never materialized. fortunately he got 4.5 months off to prepare

Him being beat down is different than him not being in shape. You can be in tremendous shape and still get beaten down to a point where play drops off. Don’t get me wrong I think he’s been out of shape some years early on. And some of that is him getting hurt and couldn’t play in live games for three or four weeks at a time like our first playoff run where he broke his face

the people needlessly attacking shocker have poor manners.

I have four posters on ignore, partly because their shtick is annoying, but the biggest part is their football posts, when rarely occur, aren’t good. All four dominated at some point this weekend.  Makes reading in here pretty easy, I just skip the posts responding to them.

As to the NBA, I went to UH.   Phi Slamma Jamma was just coming into its own as I graduated.  I was going through Drop and Add my last semester as a senior.  We did that in Hofeinz Arena, where the basketball team played.  We had all heard of Hakeem (back then, incorrectly Akeem) Olajuwon, the tall Nigerian kid coming to play.  That day, they were practicing.   I was watching Clyde the Glide Drexler fly on air to the basket.  We watched the tall Nigerian and noticed he was athletic but as to shooting he had to be even closer to the basket than Ben Simmons.  But he could rebound and I commented to the guy next to me, "at least we’ll get some rebounds”. Since then I have realized I am not a great judge of basketball potential.  Since Clyde and the Dream retired, I haven’t have much interest in round ball at a professional level. I did kind of enjoy the Admiral, humble Tim Duncan and the Spurs.  But nothing has excited me about the 6ers in long time.  Iverson was kind of fun.  The Round Mound of Rebound sure showed athleticism for a doughboy.  I loved Moses but my favorite thing about Moses was watching him one on one with the Dream in Houston at the Fonde (surely a streetball place like Philly has an equivalent to Houston’s Fonde).  But this current mix leaves me wanting.  No team in the NBA does it.  But 1980s ball?  Puhlease.  1980s gave us Dr. J, Moses and Mo.  How the hell are Embid and Simmons that?

I agree age is important for draft evaluation, and Toohill and Miller's numbers the year before being drafted were very similar. However, Toohill is the superior athlete in almost every category (in some cases shockingly so -- 10 inch advantage in the vertical jump). Sorry, that indicates way more upside to me than a sloppy-bodied, average athlete 22-year-old.

Miller actually tackles runners.

If we are being honest since 1990 there’s only two seasons of sixers basketball i could say excited me. The finals run. And last year when they were battling the raptors. The year before you knew they weren’t ready yet but fun to watch at the end of the year. Other than that it’s been a hard product to watch. Add on the sixers constantly have made bad trades since dealing Moses away. They have an unbelievably bad track record of trading all stars and getting little in return

Nah, I think that's giving our current beat guys a little too much credit.  I feel like they've settled into a checklist of things they believe Eagles fans want to know about.

I will say I think reporters using Twitter (and the initial adherence to it's character-limit driven brevity) is one of the root causes.  But I've noticed articles no longer go much into x's and o's anymore.  The news outlets have never really embraced that higher level of coverage we had for a time there before things like The Athletic started up and since guys like Kapadia left. IMO.

One thing I have noticed so far from Training Camp notes... There certainly is a lot more speed this year! Last year we all heard how good Douglas and the corners looked in camp for the most part but this year I've read a lot of plays where the DB is getting burned! Goes to show that Douglas was made to look better by our lacklustre WRs last year. Hopefully stands us in better stead going in to actual games.

Yeah, the Xs and Os stuff is pretty niche. I don’t think a vast majority of fans care to learn that stuff.

All this Sixers talk when the Flyers won their first playoff series since 2012 and are favored in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Focus on an actually well-run, likable team.

The majority of fans couldn't draw cover-2 on a whiteboard. They don't understand correlation (ex: if you rush 40 times, you win!).

That's not a "problem". Sports should be fun. Baseball has gotten less fun due to analytics (pitchers not getting to see batters a 3rd time, defensive shifts, focus on launch angles leading to both more home runs and strikeouts).

Agreed but it just sucks they aren't playing this hockey in front of our fans.  Imagine WFC with good Flyers playoff hockey.  That roof would be blowing off right about now.

Said this a couple weeks ago, I think Game 2 against Montreal was Friday at 330 in August. Imagine the tailgating scene for a flyers playoff game on a Friday in the middle of summer.

It would be off the charts.  My only Flyers gripe is I think they have the worst goal song in the NHL.

How can there be such a discrepancy?
