Brown was put there as a leader who could motivate the young players and keep a team together through losing.  He established a great culture in those years where no one pointed fingers and everyone just tried their hardest and really enjoyed playing with each other. 

It was clear that most of those players never would have had a chance to play in the NBA on any other team. Guys took their opportunity an ran with it.

Don't forget,  he did take a team from 10 wins to 52. Those were all philly grown players.  Embiid, Simmons, Covington, saric, McConnell...

The problem was that he wasn't the right guy to motivate a different kind of player.  We began accumulating bigger name guys. We traded a bunch of those players away for he grew in that environment.  He was too nice and didn't hold the star types accountable.  Including Simmons and Embiid. Now,  they've tuned him out.

He may never win a title, but he should make a long career out of being that guy that teams want when they are starting over and establishing a new culture.  He was very good at that. 

 

I don't mind the thread turning to basketball. I just wish it was about a team that I gave a flying f*** about.

The Process was insanely stupid for three reasons:

1 it was a slap in the face to fans.   What a disgrace to a great sports town to literally just give up and embrace losing with some vague future plan of maybe winning when they feel like trying

2 there is/was still no guarantee that it would work.  Same argument for why you cant just go straight BPA in the NFL draft.  At some point, you have to field a functional basketball team and not a collection of 5 centers and 9 point guards just because they were the most valuable assets available.  Stupid, flawed logic from someone who apparently never actually played a sport

3 It was the easy way out.  I cant imagine how you actually successfully pitch the idea of purposefully sucking as if that is some genius strategy.  Losing is the easiest thing to do in sports, it doesn't take any great skill at all.  Show me someone who can build a team, thats what's impressive to me.

 

I cant believe there are 76ers fans so hard up for winning basketball that theyd buy into that nonsense.

Get rid of Embiid and Simmons, cut your losses now, and try to build an actual winning team.

Simmons isnt a key anything.  Hes a forward who wants to play point guard.  Dime a dozen.

Right now you have Fletcher and Malik both 30ish.  Cox already gets his veteran rest days and Malik is coming off a major foot injury.  So that leaves Anthony Rush, Hassan Ridgeway and Raequan Williams left for practice.

They need a body. I don't see this being related to Hargrave at all. Rush and Ridgeway were out of practice on Sunday, and Cox/Jackson are on a pitch count. They had Oastman, Avery, Toohill and Leo all taking DT reps on Sunday because they needed someone to take the reps.

If only there was a place for other sports to be talked about. You guys decided to make a blog to contain all of the Eagles conversation, limiting new threads,  then spam it up with Sixers garbage.  Move it to the Sixers thread.  I have faith that you can navigate 2 threads at once, as daunting as that sounds.

if you followed the team youd know The Process ended in April of 2016 when Hinkie resigned.

What just happened here was a failure of ownership, and 2 other GMs after Hinkie. Its nothing at all resembling his process. Which seemed to be working but we never got to see it through.
