I'll remind some of you that there are several on this MB that dont even feel Ward is good enough to make the team.

We did not draft all that speed to be a primarily 2 TE offense.  You are gonna see 3 wide ( Ward in the slot ) and 4 wide this year.

Because of the 5 bad clips in that thread, most notably he has trouble separating down field and he gives a QB a small window since he's not the best at contested catches. 

I think that thread is a fair argument for both sides. And I also don't think there's many, if any, on here that don't think he's good enough to make the team. People just want to see a more versatile option in the slot.

What am I missing regarding Earl Thomas?  There has to have been more to the story than just the on field tantrum.  I might have missed if was discussed.

Having 2 vertical WRs on the outside (Jackson, Reagor) actually opens up a lot of room for Goedert and Ertz in the middle of the field. Either they uses safeties to protect against Jackson or they double Ertz. They can do both, but then everyone else gets 1 on 1 coverage. The spacing works with Jackson/Reagor/Goedert/Ertz.

I haven't seen many say that he wont make the team. He will be on the team. He won't be the full time slot/#3. As always they will mix people all over. But he will be a productive player this year and given the call more.

These injuries are the worst.

Earl Thomas to Cleveland makes sense if Delpit's injury is serious. Joe Woods is their DC, and was the defensive backs coach in SF last year. SF, of course, uses the Seattle scheme as their base-defense so Thomas fits. Cleveland also plays Baltimore 2x a year, which would be appealing for Thomas.
