Unless Ertz wants to offer us a team-friendly deal, I would not extend him. While I think he'll age well, he will not age well enough to not suffer any decline and be worth top 5 TE money. So if he wants to get paid for past production, let him walk.

And what if in two years we no longer want to be a heavy 12 personnel team? Things change quickly in the NFL. I’m strongly against extending him.

There can be extenuating circumstances:

But they're not wearing masks.

Yup.

The Eagles see Ertz as a "culture" guy. He played last year with broken ribs. You want to reward guys like that. But you can extend Ertz, without giving him 10m+ per year.

Wow. Didn't know that.

I see it both ways.  At 29, with play style injury history and current trajectory I don't see a huge reason why he wouldn't be able to continue to play at a very high level for the duration of a 4 year contract. Within the next few years Jeffery and Jackson will be off the books and we have a 3-4ish year window before any major extensions have to come for any young OL/skill position players outside of Goedert.

Goedert is the X factor for me.  If they extend Ertz at the cost of extending Goedert for a lower price then I agree that would be a huge mistake. IF they think they can do both and arrange it so Ertz's contract is expiring as guys like Dillard/Sanders/Reagor are coming up on their first contract then I'd be OK with it.

article says Brand will stay and scouting department will be overhauled. The new coaching search senters on Ty Lou, but Jay Wright is also a target among others. However management favors keeping both Simmons and Embiid and letting the new coach first try to make that work before considering any trades. Stupid plan.

As much as I'd love to see how Jay would fair in the NBA, the last great college coach that 'couldn't fail' that was hired in Philly crashed and burned epically into the ground.  If you count Chip, the last 2 of them.

Disagree here. I think he’s vitally important to the organization moving forward. Currently best O-player on team (besides Wentz) IMO. He’s a team leader, loves being here and has a great rapport with the Franchise QB.

While I hope we can keep the price down somewhat,  there isn’t any reason to let this guy walk. Keep him and Goedert here; figure it out. We have the best combination of TE’s in the league. The Patriots had Gronkowski and Hernandez signed together. We should want to keep really good players. He’s one of them.

My favorite Flyer in the past 20 years.

He was up there for me as well, if not at the top.  Couts and though short lived, Pronger, make up the rest of my short list.

I gave up hope the jazz would ever win one after the league robbed them against the bulls.

I dont enjoy the NBA as much as i used to, the total lack of anything resembling defense is difficult to watch.

Seeing that POS Malone sulk at having no rings is amazing.  Stockton on the other hand...

How exactly did they get robbed though?  In all seriousness refresh my memory as I was a wee bit young back then.

That seems odd.

The Jay to the Sixers hope is all fan boy fueled.  If Wright coached in Connecticut or North Carolina, no one would want him in Philly.

IDK about that, he's made his desire to stay in the area quite well known despite being linked to many openings (reportedly).  What he's done at Nova of all places is nothing short of amazing.  He's got a top notch eye for talent coupled with the ability to groom them.  Then again (we debated this before in here), Nova is shockingly one of the most successful NCAA BB programs in history despite its size.

The wording is weird.
It implies that he's either hurt...or traded?

The one with the shirt on probably has the right idea.  I'd give her a 6.5

I love motion basketball.  That’s why college is so fun to watch.  Set plays and running.  Rather than half court sets and ISO

Game is moving back that way with 5 out motion offense.

But that's still good for iso and lots of 3s as well.

This is the point that fans frequently overlook. They become too focused on salary cap management that they forget that you actually need talent to win. I get that there's a fine balance that needs to be managed, of course.

Kaye seems to be pushing the idea that Mailata is on the outs throughout camp.  It may be true, or he might just be shoehorning his own narrative a bit.

With Brett leaving, Doug is now the longest tenured coach in Philly.

Also, he's now the tenth longest in NFL and the only survivor of the 2016 class.

(Belichek, Payton, Harbaugh, Carroll, Tomlin, Reid, O'Brien, Zimmer, Quinn)

TBF, just about every beat writer has been writing him off the team.
