We had this talk with my son, hes 8, he was really confused as to why people would treat some one different because of the color of their skin??? he just couldnt fathom that that actually happens. We asked him if he had any friends at school with dark skin and if he treated them any different, he simply said, why would I. We can learn a lot from kids.

Who is telling his friends not to assume racism as an easy excuse?

Sure it will. Less likely criminals born especially in poverty. Freakonomics showed as much in first book

the point is to have the kids make bad decisions while it is safe to learn from them. But being a kid is a far cry from being a criminal.

Criminals arent born theyre made.

That's the thing.  Racism is taught.  While people may be prone to bias, racism as a bias is 100% due to what children learn.

Maybe if there were less non-violent crimes there would be less criminals.

Dont know i dont make it a habit to sit other peoples kids down and give them "the talk" sounds like a one way ticket to jail😳

Yeah that's great. Who's going to make tackles for this team? I don't care if you're purple. Hit somebody 🤩

Can't wait until this stupid year is over.

Then you can all argue if Duke Riley took him down in a properly sensitive fashion.

Or whether Darius Slay, Jr took into consideration at practice EVERYTHING about Zach when he jumped the route.  ZZZzzzz Somebody's not got a lot so the Whistle's out full force.

Pfffff. Boy's going down. Simple as that.

Perhaps white families need to talk about racial bias and not being racist.  I know it's a conversation I have with my kids and my parents had with me.

Why assume its not? My daughter was the minority in her daycare in nj. Far more indian and chinese kids.

The way to combat biases is to change your own behavior. Not to throw temper tantrums that make it easy for people to dismiss you. Nonviolence is the key throughout history

Flyers still suck. They have 2 minutes left to boycott

they have issues with the islanders all year. Second time they’ve blown 3 goal lead against them this year.

Until the adults can have that conversation nothing will change sadly

Yup, violence leads to more violence!

Myers hit the post at 3-2 that would have put the game away. Then the Isles get a crazy bounce to the slot and it's tied.

If the Flyers don't win in OT, the series is over. If they win, it's 1-1 and they're in it.

I don’t see how in the world they are gonna win this in overtime. Like typically when you blow a 3 goal lead in a game it’s super hard to overcome that wave of momentum by the other team and usually get steamrolled. Add on the Flyers have been playing a defensive shell game. Hard to just flip the switch back to how the first period was going.

Have you ever talked to someone who was "using race as an excuse?" I have a lot of opportunity to talk to people who have bad things going on in their lives.  They often attribute bad outcomes to race or racism because that's what they have learned growing up.  What I mean is that they have experienced racism.  They think if someone does something they don't like it might be motivated by racism.  Some people lack introspection when they use racism as an explanation.  Some people acknowledge their in role in their hardship but still see racism as a hurdle.

And there's evidence everyday that racism exists in this country.  I mean house values are negatively impacted by race. https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2018.11_Brookings-Metro_Devaluation-Assets-Black-Neighborhoods_final.pdf https://thehill.com/policy/finance/housing/513770-florida-couple-says-home-was-appraised-for-40-percent-higher-after  These are real economic hardships created by racism.

Could be. Could also not pay politicians the amount they are receiving as well. Use that money to have better training since politicians care so much about better policing. Yet we somehow don’t hear politicians promoting that idea.

Probably wouldn't matter that much to many pols. I wonder what percentage of a congress critter's annual income is their congressional pay? I wouldn't be surprised if it were less than 50%. They get paid very well for 'speeches' and such, especially the long termers with lots of clout.

and you have people like this murderer out there too:

This was taken before he murdered people.  The police did nothing to stop him.

Would you let a mob beat the crap out of you if you had the means to stop it?

I'll bet not.

The NBA are kind of ridiculous postponing games. Do they want to alienate some of their fanbase further?  Where will they stop? You don't exist if your customers don't buy your products, advertisers won't spend etc. You need a calm head saying calm down and focus on the bigger picture - this applies to the NFL too. Don't shoot the golden goose. Where some of us choose to spend our money is not guaranteed.

On a lighter note, a kid near me at football over here does this a couple of times a season without fail.  He's a proper head case that brings his Mum to games to calm him down as he basically strops multiple times a game otherwise. And no, I don't miss him at all.

Should not have been there, illegally possessing a firearm.  He will get the full brunt of the 1st degree murder charges and sentencing.

I don't think protests are a temper tantrum but I wouldn't argue that protests have been effective. MLK took a much more measured approach and understood the need to keep his hands completely clean.  Of course, no one should have to be perfect to deserve equality or justice from their government.

He murdered people because he is racist.  He's not a victim except of the prejudice that was foisted on him by his parents.

So lets get this straight. The paid looters, arsonists and general rioters who are shipped in to cause trouble have a right to be there and he did not have the same right.

Got it.

Watch the video. He was running away and the mob caught him.

Video works both ways.
