If you break into my home I'm pointing a gun at you. I hope I do not have to shoot and my intention is not to shoot. While what you are saying is true there are circumstances where gun safety isn't the first priority.  That said I wasn't there and have no real facts about why the couple was outside pointing their guns "at people". And I think we might be a whole lot better off as a society if we wait until facts are revealed (in court) before we fly off the handle on things.

That happened a while ago. The facts are out there. We have video.

Herbig seems too fat to me.  And I haven't seen his strength.  I don't remember it from last ps.  I know Opeta can anchor.

Yea, I think Bradley makes it as well.  I'll defer to you on Arnold.  Though I thought Epps played well last year.

They kept Herbig on the active roster all of last year. They never exposed him to waivers at any time. Opeta was cut and sat on the practice squad for most of the season, which meant he was available at any time to any other team for months. Based on that, you'd have to assume they prefer Herbig.

Last night was a what to do, and what not to do in sports

The NBA boycotting (basically their own company since they get 50% revenue share) losing their only platform(stupid  t-shirts, pre and post came conferences, speeches before games) was one of the dumbest things they could do.

Hockey players kept their mouth shut, knew their roll and went to work.

*IF* we've learned anything from orangeman being president and the silent majority that will reelect him is this...

We want out actors to act, want our athletes to play and we want it completely away from politics.

Tough crap. NBA players went on strike, they are humans and are allowed to feel things. They have every right to be apart of our political process as anyone else does.

Id be surprised if the NFL players "boycott". I dont think they can afford it. Salary structure is much different than in the NBA. Too many players cant do it.

Yup. Im all for social justice and im not sure how boycotting the nba playoffs solves anything.

Its akin to throwing a tantrum and taking ones ball home when no one else is there or they have their own ball.

Save the players leaving the bubble and marching in protests and doing real social justice work not just angry tweets and not playing im not sure how a boycott effects any positive change to current civil unrest?

No, what everyone wants is their athletes to agree with their own politics.  To be honest, everyone should be involved in politics because that's what helps a democracy.  Treating government as if it is disconnected from our values, daily lives, livelihood and beliefs is asinine.

They have a platform large enough that will make the issue known. It creates a conversation.

I dont have a problem with them boycotting i question how effective js the why???

If you believe the multiple videos out there are doctored then okay, we just can’t have this conversation. Agree to disagree.

It’s a player strike, not a boycott, and the size of their platform is why it’s effective. All of the people who may not be aware of what happened, or don’t care...Now they do. Not being able to watch the NBA affects them.

Actors are people too. So are athletes. You can "want” them to (seemingly) be robots all you want. They’re people. And they do their job. Which is act/play a child’s game.

as for the "hurting your own cause by boycotting” talk that’s been going around, the players obviously don’t feel right about playing said children’s game right now. For them, it probably feels like 9/11 (not saying it’s exactly like that obviously) or if a family member died.

And they also feel like the only way they can change something/anything is to change the bottom line: money. There’s only 2 things can really force change (and quickly) Money or Violence. If some guy says something stupid/racist but no sponsors pull away from his job or there’s no fear that the bottom line will be affected, no change will occur. But if sponsors start pulling out/money starts to be lost...... well then "we” can’t have that so "we” better change something.

Why would anyone think that Prince Tega Wanogho is any kind of a lock to make this team? And why would they think he would automatically be grabbed on waivers by another team before making it to the Eagles practice squad? He wasn't a high pick for a reason, and every team in the league had multiple shots at drafting him and chose not to do so. We're talking about a sixth round pick here. And I also find it kinda curious that his name has never come up in any reports from the media. You'd think that if he were doing well, it would at least have been noted somewhere. Driscoll, for example, has garnered several positive comments. I haven't heard a peep about Prince.

If the counter-argument is, well, why would anyone think Mailata would be claimed if he were waived? What's the difference? The answer to that is, Mailata has good tape. Two preseasons worth of games where his promise was on full display. Wanogho doesn't have that. I can't see a team that didn't think he was worth a pick in the first five rounds suddenly clamoring to put him on their active roster(!) ahead of guys they've been working with for months.

Argue the fact that a 17 year old Illinois resident without a valid FOID had a gun.  You can’t.

The event under discussion didn't happen in Illinois. I don't know that the fact he was an Illinois resident has anything to do with it. I don't claim to know the details of Illinois or Wisconsin law.

I agree the teenager should get a fair trial.

I just think the players are mad about the issue.

I really, REALLY miss preseason games. 😔 I didn’t realize how much until it was gone. There is basically nothing to look at to get hyped or down about with almost any/every player. Season opener is 2 weeks away and we got basically nothing. 🤷🏾‍♂️

What is the second most important position over QB? Oline. It is a very difficult position to fill when you have a injury. So having a few that know the offense, have the reps etc is extremely important.

So would you rather have a 5th Safety, 10 Dl or a  2nd backup OT that has had a nice camp? Oline is gold esp this year.

Of course. I rarely believe anything anymore. Everyone in the public are pushing their own agendas and trying to skew everything their own way.

I get but , I think some are wondering what exactly is the NBA supposed to do about it?? They have 100% backed the players up and the way they want to express themselves. Like I said the other day. NBA players not playing a game isn't going to change real life sheet in the streets. A cop or a black person is not going to be saved or do the right thing because the NBA is not playing games

Absolutely, and the couple on the lawn as well. I think that's the civilized way, everyone accused of anything should have that right before being considered guilty by us the lynch mob.
