Ok please take this $hit to cvon. It’s exhausting.

My thoughts as well. There are training camp practices going on at this very moment, and instead of reading occasion twitter observations from reporters watching, we have to read political crap ad nauseum.

It really isn't THAT hard to see a political comment and decide to simply not respond, even if you do have an opinion. I do it all the damn time.

By that same logic I also want a RPG rocket launcher. I haven’t been to jail, been judged insane, or otherwise hurt anyone. Does that make it okay for me to own one?

I don't care if you own one. I don't complain and balk because of the process I have to through to buy weapons. Background check ect. I'm assuming if you want one of those it might be a bit more stringent but have at it. Not sure where you are going to be able to shoot it though since I doubt a rifle range will want you blowing up their backstops

Millions die from drinking and driving shouldn't booze be illegal? oh that's right it isn't?

We have background check for buying guns and in most states laws as to when and how you can carry them. Also it's against the law to  murder people.

That may be slight exaggeration.  The CDC has 36,000 motor vehicle deaths in the US vs. 39,000 firearm related deaths in 2017.  https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/injury.htm

Again, if you're talking about regulation absent the limitations of 2nd amendment the danger of the device warrants regulation.

Just make people by insurance that covers the damage they can do with a weapon.

Maybe it shouldn't be illegal. If you want to use that crap go ahead and die what do I care. It's not like people still aren't using it even though it's illegal. The same would happen to making AR-15's or "assault weapons" illegal, the bad people would still be using them.

More people in the US are killed by guns than are killed by automobiles (data from CDC). Yes, I know it includes suicides, so don't bother telling me.

Motor vehicle traffic deaths

  • Number of deaths: 38,659
  • Deaths per 100,000 population: 11.9

All firearm deaths

  • Number of deaths: 39,773
  • Deaths per 100,000 population: 12.2

Drinking and driving is illegal

BTW I'm 100% okay with more stringent background checks before people can buy guns legally. I want to keep guns out of nutcases hands as much as possible. I would also like to see harsher punishment for people that commit crimes with guns including the death penalty for murderers. That said I also know that some folks don't obtain guns legally.

So is murder.

What states is it legal to drink and drive?
Open Container Laws by State
  • Alaska.
  • Arkansas.
  • Connecticut.
  • Delaware.
  • Louisiana.
  • Mississippi.
  • Missouri.
  • Tennessee.

Drinking and driving is legal....drinking and driving while intoxicated is illegal

There are regulations, so not sure what your point is either.

In Alaska, if an individual drives a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, an inhalant, or a controlled substance, he or she is committing the crime of driving while under the influence. A person is considered driving under the influence if within four hours of driving, the person has a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more, or the person has 0.08 grams or more of alcohol per 210 liters in his or her breath.

The background of the victims is inadmissible.

Great point from the lawyer. Most of the time it is inadmissible.   But I don’t see limited admission here on the character of the witness because the victim won’t be testifying.

That's right....that's driving while intoxicated...it is legal to drink and drive if the level is below intoxication threshold..Alaska also allows open container...

There's no background checks with private sales and at gun shows. I think gun violence is a problem in the country.  Looking at other nations that have a much lower rate of gun violence, I don't know if there's a solution other than to limit the number of guns.  It seems to me that the cats out of the bag in terms of gun ownership and the type of weapons you can buy.  Additionally, we have a constitutionally protected right to gun ownership that applies to individual ownership of weapons for self-defense.  I think any law regulating ownership is going to run up against the 2nd amendment.

I don’t think it should be illegal. I’m all for personal responsibility. If someone doesn’t have kids and wants to do drugs or make decisions that affect only them, go for it.
