sheil wrote a detailed story about dillard in high school and college Where he almost quit and his dad in the story talked about him not exactly loving the game of football. Then the stories came out from reporters during the offseason which isn’t that far of stretch if you read Dillard’s background story. It is a lot of the same things that he dealt with early in college and his high school career. And it was not just one reporter in kempski but mosher talked about what he heard, Caplan talked about it, roob talked about what he heard, Gunner talked about it, kempski talked about it, Jeff mclane talked about it and what they were told. All had sources saying similar things. It wasn’t just one reporter. It was coming from multiple. I don’t think the philly media got together to be like hey let’s all sabotage Andre Dillard’s chances and career. Maybe they are reporting what has been said to them and maybe some of it is the truth

am i saying dillard sucks and is hopeless? No. Am i giving up on him? No. I hope he is the LT for the foreseeable future. However I’m also not going to blindly accept that he’s a lock as the long term answer either just cause he was a first round pick who has talent. You can have talent and be a first rounder and fail too. You hope since he has that talent that made him a first that he puts it all together with stoutland’s coaching to be the player we envisioned when he was drafted

What I’m saying (And others) is he might not be the lock of the century like it is assumed on the blog cause he was serviceable at LT and horrible at RT as a rookie and a first round pick. The fact of the matter is just cause you were a first round pick with talent doesn’t mean it’s a given you become the left tackle that plays the position for the eagles for the next decade. My point has been and always will be for any player of the eagles (or stoutland in this case) if you believe there was a tackle(or player) in this draft you loved more or as much as dillard (someone else on the roster) or thought could he as good or better than dillard with stout coaching him then go get him if he’s obtainable. Cause dillard isn’t a lock to be successful. Also means if you don’t believe in dillard 100% As an organization then don’t just take the risk of hoping it works out cause you spent high draft capital.

Well, for one thing these reporters feed off each other. If you've ever been to a training camp you'll see that mostly they stand around and talk to each other. They spend very little time actually watching practice and even less concentrating. Kempski's comment about Ostmen bullrushing Dillard was, by his own admission, a play where he concentrated on Dillard, as if he shouldn't have been doing the same for every other play. Then, after practice they go and have a few beers and feed off each others' stories.

I admit that I despise Kempski's reporting, though he's obviously a funny guy. He could be the best beat writer of the group but he's not.

The stories about Dillard crying all seemed to end up in the same place - that's he's soft and weak. Like athletes don't cry! Really? Almost every athlete I've ever been around cries at one time or another. It's not that they're weak or don't care; it's that they do care, intensely. You think Jason Kelce doesn't cry? You must be nuts. So you can take that narrative and tell those clowns to shove it. I'm not blaming you; you're only going off what you've read. What I am saying, though, is that this coterie of writers generates a common narrative that drifts farther and farther away from the truth. With nothing to write about all summer, it's gotten worse than I can ever remember.

Jerrah, I don’t think this is what the players were looking for.

"I really want to say how our hearts as an organization, individuals in the organization, how our hearts go out to the individuals and the family members who have been affected by these times, these disheartening times that we’ve all seen on television,” Jones said. "And I want our team and I want them to be emboldened to be a part of change. The dramatic change isn’t going to happen overnight, but I want our organization and our players to play a part in the movement of making this a better place in this country. I feel confident that our players have a can-do and what-can-I-do participation in it. I want what the Cowboys [can do] to help make this a better place.”

Question for the Blog Need Help.

My wife is a clinical psychologist she is director of prevention and outreach at WSU. (Wichita) her department is in the process of rolling out a national program for mental health awareness and suicide prevention and they are looking for people in the public eye with a large platform to get on board as sponsors. One of the first people to come to my mind was Andy Reid. Question is does any body have any suggestions on how i would go about contacting Andy Reid or his sectetary or agent or somebody that can get me connected to running this program by Andy Reid? Thanks in advance any suggestions or info or help is greatly appreciated by me and also my wife.

His agent is unlikely to help.  Corporately, your contact will be screened.  You need to put it in a personal appeal that sticks or one the team might like to sponsor like the Bookmobile or the playgrounds.  Best way to approach that is in writing.  Might not make it to AR but it is possible.  We actually had a community outreach officer that dealt with our charitable and community contacts. She had the ear of the CEO.

Almost every athlete I've ever been around cries at one time or another. It's not that they're weak or don't care; it's that they do care, intensely. You think Jason Kelce doesn't cry? That’s fine and that doesn’t mean they don’t have sources that are telling them that. You still have yet to disprove that. Just conjecture of how media members are friendly with each other and talk. Do they go off on each other? Yeah probably cause they also have similar sources telling them similar things. It could be that multiple sources they have are the same and are telling them the same thing as well or heard the same thing as well. Again if they are giving you information saying it’s coming from their source you cannot believe it which is your prerogative. However  I don’t believe they all just made up sources because they talk to each other about what one reporter had said to him. And I don’t believe for a second well this is the summer so we got nothing better then go after dillard because one of the other reporters went after Dillard. Furthermore this happened Peak NFL off-season with the combine and free agency and then the draft. It wasn’t That slow during the times it came out

It isn’t that he cries or soft it’s the fact in Sheil’s story this has been a past issue to the point of where he almost quit in HS and college which dealt with the issue that’s being reported now. Again you dismiss it because other athletes do that. But other athletes haven’t gotten to the point of where they almost walked away from the game in high school cause it was too much. And then again in college at wazzu. other athletes also didn’t have their father Say he didn’t exactly love the game. So again it a bigger issue if you believe that possibly this could end with him eventually walking away.  That doesn’t change just because other athletes cry or become emotion.  Not every athlete who becomes emotional is made up the same Or almost quit the game or might not have the same passion as he does about the game

you can spin in whatever way you want to with reporters. Again your prerogative on what you believe they are or aren’t. But it feels like every time a reporter comes out with something you don’t agree with you go out of your way to bash them. I don’t like some of the reporters either. Some of them are pompus and some of them are jerks and some of them I think don’t even know what the hell they’re talking about when they watch football. but sometimes and some of them they have good information because that’s what they get paid to do for a living and they have better access to sources then you and I

again your prerogative to believe what you want. I’m not going to stop you. Just like mine is mine. It’s not going to change. Do i want dillard to succeed? Hell yeah. Do i think it’s a lock? Hell no. Hence why I’m not just handing him the keys to LT next season and think it’s a wise investment to draft another tackle high even if dillard pans out to be what we all hope, it’s not as if lane is young so that also plays into it.

Linemen who play a lot wear gloves. There are so many things that can happen to your hands in those positions that they have to protect them. You expect this guy to catch passes with thos mitts?

I'm willing to bet you that he could and would.

The bungles are allowing fans to buy cardboard cutout pictures of themselves to man the stands. If the Eagles do that would they really accept Foghorn from me.   Maybe I could Howie for Henry Hawk. I say son.....

Okay well I'm not paying for my cardboard cut out to go to a game. Last time it got totally loaded and made an arse out of me

Buy a Chiefs ticket then go streaking on the field with a sign asking for help.

Sara on Closing Bell just announced some workforce reductions and restructurings that were announced this week.  Not surprised.  We did the same thing every time there was a down turn in the economy. Employees were desperate to keep their jobs.  We pushed performance, cut down on backlog and deadwood, and identified who performed. We then cut out the lesser performers and bought out the more expensive, especially older employees.  A combination of voluntary and involuntary severance.  The employment market flipped with the pandemic and the corporations are jumping.  Good for stockholders, bad for workers.  I expect we will see this through October as bailouts mature.  I hope everyone here doesn’t get hit (unless you want). I have a number of friends that would jump at a voluntary severance package that fit the older more expensive profile.

you can spin in whatever way you want to with reporters. But every time a reporter comes out with something you don’t agree with you go out of your way to bash them. It’s consistent. I don’t like some of the reporters either. Some of them are poppers and some of them are jerks and some of them I think don’t even know what the hell they’re talking about when they watch football. but sometimes and some of them they have good information because that’s what they get paid to do for a living and they have better access to sources then you and I

I am prone to believe reporting based on observation. I am not prone to believe in character assessment. I gather you have never been so frustrated by something that goes wrong that you break down. I certainly have. I am not spinning about reporters and I admit to a certain consistency in how I view their stories. Game after game I see something utterly unlike what I read the next day. As far as linemen go, there isn't a one of our beat guys who's good at it. Baldy has his moments but with him everything is the greatest thing ever so I have to filter out his enthusiasm.

Going back to a guy I have been appreciative of for some time now - Seumalo. He has basically been ripped by our beat guys his whole career. It wasn't until Kelce made his remarks about him recently that the tide began to turn. An observer who paid attention, though, would have seen this long before.. I don't claim to be smarter than any of those guys but I do believe I pay closer attention to line play than any of them and that makes a difference.

Returning to Dillard, I see both his strengths and weaknesses. These beat guys seem to see only the latter. They don't see the talent. The weaknesses can be rectified. I recall when We got Peters, a lot of the reporters ripped the trade, while I was over the moon. Oh no, they said. He was undrafted. He was fat. He was a malcontent. This last characteristic goes to what I said earlier about reporters and character assessment. They were wrong, wrong, and wrong.

I get as good or better insight into players and plays and injuries (a tip of the hat to HE) in here than I do from the beat writers. I almost never go into the 411 any more because they produce such drivel.

So, maybe that is spinning.

Go to the Chiefs Community pages and check out all they do.  Find where your wife’s work fits best.  This will take time to go through each, including Ambassadors, Red Coaters and player foundations etc.  Then go to the team page and thumb down to the Community section.  Identify which of those employees probably fits best with your target.  May be more than one.  Then Google that person.  Find out what you can about them to personalize your correspondence and there you go.  Good luck. Don’t give up after one communication cycle either but be respectful and know when no is definitely no.

Weird coincidence
