Actually it is.

If you're hired to do a specific job and now they want you to do another higher paying job at the pay that you were originally given are you gonna do it?

Most of us in the real world are asked do do tasks outside of our pay grade.  I had a female boss before.  When she went on maternity leave I covered her role for her.  Should I have asked for more money?  I did what I was asked to do, no questions or care tbh.  Part of the job.

O-line shuffling happens all the time, especially mid-season.  Just sounds like a major D to me, despite all the good JP has done for the Eagles.

Every day I drift further and further away from caring as much as I used to.

Ward has been Carson’s favorite WR target in TC in number of targets.

Yes indeed. Plus, I think Ward is a perfect fit with Ertz and all the speed guys. They need (1) a zone-buster and (2) someone to work underneath who is too much for an LB or SS to handle. They don't need more speed. They need a guy they can count on at 3rd and 8.

If his agent didn’t build in a contingency for JP to play LT, this is on the agent.  JP is experienced enough to know that.  Agent doesn’t confirm it, JP doesn’t utter it.  The team doesn’t comment on it.  "NFL (not Eagles) sources” tell McLane this.  I don’t buy that McLane’s sources aren’t the voices in his head.  I have had way too many McLane "sources” stories to bite anymore.

I agree. And watch this narrative get echoed by the other writers, also listening to the voices in McLane's head.

It’s not at all. He wasn’t "hired” to do a specific job. He chose to sign a contract to play for a team for one year. He didn’t have to accept lower money just because it was a guard position. If he got beat out for the position and wasn’t starting is he going to get paid less? No. You can’t equate playing a game to a normal 9-5 job. Nothing is changing by move him from G to LT. He’s playing the same amount and relatively doing the same job.

So let me get this straight. Just to throw out some numbers. You accept a job for $20 per hour if the company loses a worker who is in a $40 Per Hour job would you do the $40 ph job permanently at $20 ph?.

This isn't temporarily covering for someone. This is as permanent as it gets in the NFL

Yes, a buddy and I went to Newfoundland last year. We both got moose but he sprung for a caribou tag as well and we split all of our meat. Caribou is my favorite. Lots of yummy fat in it.

Something about it seems a little morbid........with that being said, I'd still try it.  I've probably watched Polar Express 1 too many times.

I had kangaroo once in a high end restaurant in St. Kitts.  It was delicious.  Then later that night, one of my co-workers blurted out, "I don't see many kangaroos around here.  Wonder where that came from?"  I'm sure it's not a big deal, but (pun intended) that has never sat well with me.

I agree while its nice to have speed guys its also nice to have guys that can move the chains. Ward is smart and has good chemistry with wentz and wentz trust hell get open and move those chains. Sounds like a valuable asset to have.

It's 1 season, hardly permanent.  I covered her leave for 2 months.  The NFL season is 4 months.  He doesn't practice half the time so he already is getting perks other players don't have.

What if Dillard got hurt in week 3?  In a pinch they would put JP and LT.  Would he not because of his salary?

2 things.

1. A lot of people do work outside of their pay grade already.

2. Our jobs are not the same. The back up QB can’t ask for a few million more if you want him to play.

Part of the appeal of signing an injury prone out of shape 38 year old with no RG experience to play RG was the insurance/flexibility he provided at LT.

If he’s not willing to do that, then they probably had better RG options.  So cut him.

we're never gonna agree on this so we might as well let it drop

This however is the way corporations cut costs. Get rid of older workers and replace them with a young person willing to work for less

Josh McCown should have held out of the playoff game since he had to do a harder job and he was replacing a guy making $30M a year and he only made $5M.

A back up QB is still playing QB.

The pay scale for guards and tackles are very different.  As i said earlier go ahead and cut him. Then you get to replace both positions on the O line.

Exactly. It’s stupid. Part of why he’s here is the insurance at LT. We didn’t sign him based on his RG ability alone.

Makes no sense to me. Is NRC going to demand more if he has to slide outside because outside Corners make more than Nickels? No. Do swing tackles get paid more depending on if they line up left or right? No.

Hell Taysom Hill should hold out of every play his number is called depending if he’s lining up as QB, WR, or RB.

That said, I think McLane is full of it. Maybe his agent asked for an adjustment but I doubt he’s refusing to move until he gets paid.

Interesting twist, Peters wants more money to play LT.

I just got this notification. Wow. I wonder if he’ll be an a-hole about it and hold out now

It’s not he’d play the entire season either. I’d be surprised if he didn’t play 50% since he’s always taking himself out and gets dinged up

No one else wanted him as a tackle.

So pay him his 2.9 mill garntee of his 3.1 mill deal to say hi. That will teach players a lesson.

No instead u just keep him at RG and play someone else at LT. No biggy

Can we put him on ST’s too or is he going to ask for more money?

So would Peters really say no when they ask him to play LT week 1?

Your argument is kind of moot if JP is actually asking for more money to play tackle. He’d be doing exactly what you elude to as being asinine.

And I absolutely would not do a job for someone else outside my pay grade. If that person cannot handle the job they shouldn’t be there in the first place. If you want me in that job, you give me incentives to be in that job, or I’ll remain doing the job I was hired to do. I’m not a fing slave.

Eh, we're gonna disagree. Besides considering who is reporting it who know how accurate it is.

Jones or Douglas time!

Pay JP, we have no other choice. Just F'in do it.

God I already hate this upcoming season.

There were reports of teams showing interest, but I doubt the offers were great or that he really wanted to leave Philly.

I’d definitely be tempted now to trade Jones

Would you trade for picks or players?

Who do they have that we could get?
