I don't see anyone else asking for a raise just because they became more important after an injury.

So you punish someone for asking for a raise?

When you get a raise at work, I’d wonder if they put stipulations in your job that for every mistake you make, they can take that money back from you.

Perhaps we are seeing why the market for JP was kind of flat. The Eagles have to turn the page on him and utilise other players for the future of the franchise.  Of course, Lane was drafted to be the LT of the future 😉.

Mike Florio has been saying similar things and mentioned that the BB coaching tree always say "we will be nothing like him" and end up being just like him.

And finally. I caught the Jerry Jones presser this week.  Man he needs to go the dentist and get his teeth cleaned. He's clearly a coffee sort of guy and even Austin Powers would be disgusted.

I couldn't remember where I heard it, but this is it.  Thanks!

And I suppose they should offer the same decrease in salary to any of them amongst the offensive line that commit a penalty.

Or don't play 16 games

That bar is set pretty low isn't it?

They do actually.

As I posted above, the context in which Peters has demanded a raise is nearly unprecedented.  And no, you don't punish someone for asking for a raise.  You punish them for demanding one by refusing to do something unless they get it.

hehe, we could always start discussing politics again

Come on.  You're smarter than this.

Are NFL teams allowed to have incentives in player contracts for not having personal social media accounts? If I owned a team I’d give players bonuses for not being on Twitter or instaGay

Is he refusing to play?

I’m just saying he does have some positional flexibility. Tremendous? No. But that wasn’t e45’s point anyway

I'm far from Seumalo's biggest fan.  As a designated starter at any position, he's not very good.  Every year, we hear how great he is "except for 2 games."  It feels like 3 consecutive years he has lost a game or 2 by himself with a complete inability to stop a fat DT from killing Wentz.

I digress.  He's OK as a LG and I'm sure may be OK as a C one day.  But the Eagles do trust him to play 5 spots on the OL.  That is great flexibility.

Refusing to play LT it seems.

Are you sure you’re not on a gay dating site?

Call my Sidney Jones then.  Or perhaps Malcom Jenkins.  We can admit that now.

Not gonna get worked up until he or his agent makes a statement.

If you sign that contract, yes. But why you’d sign that contract is beyond me.

Its also illegal in many states to do so. And I’d be curious if that was illegal for NFL teams to do.

Pretty standard for me.

Well that's fair.  I'm sure that will never come to light.  He and his agent won't actually say that.

I think that's incredibly bold and disingenuous for a reporter to completely fabricate that story.  But sure, who knows?

Howie probably failed to communicate it to him 3 times, and it fell on deaf ears.

Yeah not sure why that posted three times.

Then I suppose if you ever get hurt on the job, you’d not deserve worker’s compensation.

Man, talk about apples and oranges.  Peters got his full salary. The CBA calls for full salary.  Worker’s compensation pays two thirds of the average weekly wage up to $1,081 after a week, back in 2017 it was $995 a week.  Think the Eagles would have been better off paying Peters around $10k in 2017 or his salary?  They met their obligations to Peters.

And worker’s compensation should pay a workers full salary as well.

Apples to oranges? If that’s the agreed upon procedure for an athlete getting hurt doing their job, who are we to deny them that?

His initial argument was asinine.

I'll say again, there is an unending list of players who have held out in the last year of their contract because they wanted an extension.  There is a list of players who have held out because they felt they outplayed their contract after as little as 1 year.

In NFL history, I have never heard of a player refusing a depth chart/positional promotion unless they get more money.  When LT's go down, it's often a starter from elsewhere on the line that bumps out.  In NFL history, have you heard of one demand more money in order to play LT?  Have you heard of a backup at any position ask for more money to start?  Have you heard of a slot WR ask for more money before taking snaps out wide?

Or backup QB starting the rest of the season after a week or two. We all get what he is saying, but come on man.

49ers cut Erick Swoope, TE.  Eagles should sign him and then they would have Swoop, Swoope and Swoopes.

That’s a good idea, it makes it almost impossible for someone to misspell the name

I can't think of it offhand, but perhaps it's out there.....is there one example in NFL history or in sports history of a player refusing to accept an upgraded role...on a fresh contract ...after the calendar year has begun...without a pay raise?  I can't think of a single example.
