Look at Foles at the beginning of 2018 and the end of 2018. Part of that was play calling based on sudden death, throw a bit of caution to the wind. Scott and Ward thrived in that environment as well. Screw the Douglas focus on athletes. The athletes that thrive are those that rise when their backs are against the wall. Frankly, that is why I like Hurts (handling Tua at Alabama and picking things up so quickly at Oklahoma - perfect), Taylor (only practice and two games In HS but rose to the occasion), Driscoll (Mass to an SEC position and starter), Tega Wahogho (basketball player from Africa to SEC LT), Hightower (non scholarship player to starter at Boise), Quez Watkins (late round sleeper). And Wallace, Dawkins’ kid’s roommate and under Dawkins’ influence, may be the outlier of that group but, Dawk, enough said. This is also why I wanted Warren instead of Toohill in the seventh. Toohill seems like a Douglas pick. Got Warren anyway. Warren is a fighter. Watch how he fights for yards if you can find some of his college tape. Killins strikes me as a back against the wall type. Yeah, you are fast but you are too small. Back against the wall. Interesting the Eagles have him listed as 177. He was 164 at the East-West Shrine Game. Warren down to 218, was 222 at the Combine. I suspect rookie weights on PE.com are based on signing physical. That could well mean that rookies were getting good instruction on getting their bodies ready for professional ball. Noticed several changes from the Combine, Pro Days or all star games. If Douglas focused on drafting athletes, he did quite a piss poor job. I think his strategy was to draft "football guys" with high character that live, breathe, and eat the sport despite limited athleticism. Howie drafted more athletic freaks this year than the past 3 years combined.

It takes a few over sensitive flowers to send this place off in the wrong direction. As far as practice is concerned. With the issues in baseball right now. I still say any sports outside of a bubble is going to have a hard time working through this. I am still prepared for no football this year. At least not pros or college. My sister told me that my nephew's season is going to start on time. Just no fans in the stands. Yeah, well if I have to drive up there and sit in the parking lot and watch him from a distance. I will. As long as he knows I'm there and then he can tell me all about it. I'll need to get good Binoculars. Hard to follow action through binoculars. My dad, an avid bird watcher, mounted telescope to a gun stock. It was perfect for following action close up but frowned on for bringing in the stands. With tensions nowadays, we would probably get shot using it.

But they at least knew 4 players did test positive by Sunday (who didn't play) which means its likely there is a in clubhouse outbreak but decided to play anyway, so players who were/are potentially positive, played. Thats some stupid stuff and i imagine when millions of dollars are on the line organizations are going to minimize the threat and justify their actions. I imagine the nfl will sadly do the same

The NFL really has no contingency for having half a team infected.

They need to and should have already, had some type of independent infectious disease doctor that makes the call to play. Just like they have with concussions. Not players. Not only is it stupid, they decided to play when the Phillies short stop Didi Gregorious has a known underlying health issue with kidney disease. It's downright negligent and they should be punished harshly to make an example of them.
July 27, 20205 yr anyone looking at the mlb situation and thinking: "well, that won't happen in the nfl.." ? one week in and potential that the season is cancelled. nfl has teams all over covid hot zones. 6 teams alone from florida and california. i'm sure nothing bad will happen if those teams go to other cities, along with a laundry list of staff that comprises nfl teams..

The 2018 draft was fairly athletic, and we came away with what I think are four players who belong in the NFL and Mailata, who has elite athleticism for a tackle.

A lot of other businesses that bring in a lot less revenue than the NFL have done the same and found out the hard way. Sadly i dont think the NFL happens this year, baseball made it 1 week before a team breakout in a non " contact" sport. The vikings guy in charge of team covid protocol testing positive would as an owner scare me. At what point does the reward outweigh the risk or vice versa and out what point do those risks have possible long term negative effects on ones product?

Good point. Forgot about Sweat, Mailata, and didn't realize how athletic Avonte Maddox is. His spider chart screams nickel to me.

Always bugs me when an owner refers to his players as family then put them in harms way to make a buck. They arent family they are employees, they are marketable commodities and the above is just another example of money over morals. I love football, but right now unless things take a drastic turn for the better i dont thinking playing is socially responsible.

But that won’t happen, unless they move his season to the spring. With the chance of a vaccine in the spring, it seems negligent not to move all fall sports to the spring. I know if makes some athletes pick a sport or two but that seems like the smart thing to do at both the HS and College level. In deference, the NFL ought to move the draft to June.

Get a bunch of rooms at an extended stay hotel, enough for 2 teams +staff (would probably be renting out an entire place). That'll be where everyone has to stay for any given city. Most extended stays have kitchens in the rooms so players can cook their own stuff or the team can hire chefs to cook, have groceries delivered to the hotel etc. Players will only be allowed to go to certain places as well as have to test every day. It'll suck for the players not being able to live at their house (they could allow families into the extended stays if they want and they all test negative) but there are thousands of people working under the same circumstances for wayyyy less money. They're gonna have to sacrifice a lot if they want to make it through a whole season
