Exactly when did Ostman star in the preseason? He apparently had some noteworthy reps in practice. That's it. So the hype continues.

Couple of seasons ago, Ostman was at the PS.  The team praised his efforts to simulate the opponent's key players for the team practices.  That won him the extra considerations.  No doubt he is the effort player and at the fringe.  His chance of making it depends on who are in front of him on the roster and injuries to others.  His best chance was last pre-season, but he was hurt in camp and that killed it.

Islanders fans used to chant "1940” at the Rangers when they played in Nassau; the Rangers went 54 years between championships until they finally won the Cup in 1994

Sadly the Flyers are rapidly approaching that territory — 45 years now, and counting.  Fans better get used to some trolling from time to time

I hope Howie’s draft classes aren’t as bad as these.

If Maddox and Toohill turn into decent players, the sting of letting Rasul/Jones and Miller go is a lot less. I don't mind misses as long as there are also hits. We really need JJAW and Reagor/Watkins/Hightower to be good, since they are the wrs next year and for the foreseeable future. Dillard being really good would also be nice.

Those are Howie draft classes. Just like with Douglas, Andy Weidl sets the draft board and Howie makes the picks.

Maybe not. But posting a Penguins Stanley Cup photo the night the Flyers were eliminated was definitely a troll move.

Joe Douglas boards sucked

Yes, it was.

Maybe, but Howie isn’t being held hostage. He watches the players too.

Meh.  Everyone complains about how great DAL is at drafting, and they've cut a first round pick and two 4ths over that same period.

How many drafts with Howie as the GM can we blame on other people?  At some point we have to acknowledge he can’t draft

I'm assuming most of you are grown men,  why would something as silly as a pic of penguins cup victory,  rattle your cage so much ?

There has to be more pressing things to worry about.

Or at least give him some of the responsibility for bad draft picks. It’s ridiculous.

Weidl sets the board now, just like Douglas, so I guess we’ll blame him next.

I think it is about the intent.

But what have their other draft picks done?

Funny coincidence regarding the Rasul Douglas pick -- when the Eagles traded for Timmy Jernigan they traded back from the #74 overall pick to the #99 overall pick, which they used to select Rasul Douglas.  I was looking at that draft of all the players who were selected between #74 and #99 and, of course, there are 4 Pro Bowl players there -- Godwin, Hunt, Griffin, and Golladay -- and there were 5 CB taken -- Moreau, Griffin, Lewis, Sutton, and Tankersley.

The coincidence is the Eagles now have Duke Riley at LB -- who was the #75 pick in that draft by ATL, so at the cost of trading Cyprien the Eagles basically recouped that trade-back.

If the intent is to get a rise out of people, we’re all trolls.

All evidence shows that the Eagles are an average-drafting team. If you want better than that, sure. But the idea that the Eagles can't draft is simply nonsense.

I've argued for awhile now since 2016 the Eagles have swung for singles in the draft and hit singles -- there haven't been any home run swings.

Out of 18 picks they have 10 players still on the roster -- Barnett, Gerry, Goedert, Maddox, Sweat, Pryor, Mailata, Dillard, Sanders, JJAW -- out of those they have 6 starters or starting-caliber players in Barnett, Gerry, Goedert, Maddox, Sanders, Dillard (Pryor)

The 2017 draft class objectively wasn't very good at all.  2018 and 2019 actually don't look that bad, considering they only had 5 picks in each class.

I think people’s expectations for the draft are out of whack.

That said, I’d love for the Eagles to quit drafting guys who are almost assuredly going to fail like Pump and Thorson. Yes, those are mid round picks, but we might as well set fire on the pick instead of wasting salary caps space on no talent players.

Howie, I think, has learned his lesson on drafting a player coming off a major injury, at least with a premium resource. Barnett, I don’t necessarily think there is a lesson to be taken from him. He’s been injured and hasn’t reached his ceiling. Just an increase to 7-8 sacks is worthy of a first-round pick when you take into account the failure rate of those picks.

If anything, Howie probably learned that he needed more bites of the apple.

There are different types of "rises."

Shareef Miller and Thorson were the worst picks IMO since 2016. Neither made sense. At least Pumphrey had production. You can argue the traits were a non-starter, but there was something there. What exactly did Miller/Thorson do well?

Moving forward, as long as we continue to focus on athleticism and trading down, we should be in ok shape. As of right now, we're down a 2021 4th, but up a 2021 5th & 6th (compensatory).

Ostman 100% retroactively wins the 2019 Nast Nate.

I think the hype for ostman winning the Nasty Nate is more hyper than the Joe Ostman Hype😒
