Shareef Miller and Thorson were the worst picks IMO since 2016. Neither made sense. At least Pumphrey had production. You can argue the traits were a non-starter, but there was something there. What exactly did Miller/Thorson do well?

Moving forward, as long as we continue to focus on athleticism and trading down, we should be in ok shape. As of right now, we're down a 2021 4th, but up a 2021 5th & 6th (compensatory).

I think Pump is easily the worst pick. I almost always look at a prospect optimistically and try to see what the Eagles saw. It was clear he wasn’t an NFL player. His traits had no chance to translate because you can’t be a tackle breaker with his frame.

All evidence shows that the Eagles are an average-drafting team. If you want better than that, sure. But the idea that the Eagles can't draft is simply nonsense.

I agree with this, for the most part.

I think the biggest gripe is other than Johnson, Ertz, and Wentz (who was an almost "sure thing") how many consistent "pro-bowl" and/or "star" players have they drafted since Andy Reid left?

3 "Stars" in about 8 years?  Sanders has the potential but not quite there yet.

Although for the most part, I agree, the draft is a crap-shoot....although I think they should have hit on a few more "stars" over the past 8 years or so.

I plan on opening the new Blog tomorrow.

Reagor was never on PUP during camp.  He is now on the 53.  He is eligible for "returnable" IR because he is clearly injured.  He will need to miss at least three games if placed on IR.

Dillard and Perkins were placed on IR during camp and were never on the 53.  Their seasons are over.

I apologize for being completely wrong on this. They can’t put Alshon back on IR.

How many drafts with Howie as the GM can we blame on other people?  At some point we have to acknowledge he can’t draft

I don’t think he’s been the main contributor to the draft boards. You could say 2016 is his doing, but it really went from Andy to Chip to Joe. Now is finally his chance to sink or swim.

Andy Weidl sets the board now...

I don’t believe he’s going to have as much say as Joe did.

Maybe, but Howie isn’t being held hostage. He watches the players too.

If he has to stick to that board its still a huge limitation no matter how you try to spin it.

You mean they can.  Or you saying Eskin is wrong?

Or at least give him some of the responsibility for bad draft picks. It’s ridiculous.

Weidl sets the board now, just like Douglas, so I guess we’ll blame him next.

Jeremiah Washburn on deck

There is no spin. Howie made the picks. Joe put the board together. It’s not like Howie just kicked his feet up and asked Joe who he was picking.

There is plenty of blame to go around, and for whatever reason you give Howie a pass. He shouldn’t get one.

On the Eagles Insider podcast Howie said specifically in the past 24-36 hours he felt like there were some TEs that came available that can help the team. He also said he didn’t want to get cute with having only 2, but did reference the new PS rules about calling guys up on gameday

New rule?

I should note that they apparently don’t even stick to the board. We had Campbell ranked higher than JJAW and still picked JJAW.

Didn't we do this yesterday?

You cant evaluate his drafts when hes using someone else's board.

If you were doing a fantasy football draft and I sent you a ridiculous spreadsheet of player rankings you had to use and your team sucked, is it fair to say youre a bad drafter? No. Its not.

"Teams will also be allowed to bring two players per week up from the practice squad to the active roster on game day without those players having to clear waivers to return to the practice squad. Teams can only promote any one player twice during the season."

Meh.  Everyone complains about how great DAL is at drafting, and they've cut a first round pick and two 4ths over that same period.

Yea, but they hit on impact players more than the Eagles do IMO.  They took a chance on Jaylon Smith who wasn't supposed to play after his knee injury and he's a stud now.  Eagles take a chance on Sidney Jones and he's trash.  The Eagles have to start hitting on picks.  The fact that 9 out of 10 picks made the team this year gives me hope they can develop some of them.

Again, he isn’t just sitting back idly as Joe puts his board together. He gets a say. Joe wasn’t the puppet master.

and that was after coaches made that choice right? Not Howie.

Howie had to use someone elses idiotic board. And ties were often broken by position coaches and coordinators.

Never really Howie getting to make a call. Just making the calls other people told him to.

yeah. Joe was brought here for the draft. No ifs ands or buts about that. Howie has been a figurehead in the draft process till now.

Guess what guys, Howie will be making picks off Andy Weidl’s board too.
